The day felt dark. The madam of the house was in a sour mood. Her son sitting beside her and idly playing with his train set that took up half the tea room. It was going to be an odd day and the maids felt it. No one but the madam knew why, but the eerie feeling filled the air and it was thick enough to choke everyone in the room.
As soon as the clock struck one, everyone in the room darted their heads towards the madam, she nodded her head and looked lovingly at her son. Her beautiful boy, Sean.
She walked over to him kissed him on his forehead as she motioned to help to clear up the toys, “Sean darling, I need you to go play in the garden for a little bit while mummy talks to some people.” Sean looked up for the first time since he’d been in the room and finally noticed the other people in the room.
There was a couple standing at the door, the man had his head down but the lady tried her best to keep her shoulders held high. The man was dark skinned, dressed in a white collared shirt a black suit jacket, black slacks and a flat cap that had seen better days. The woman was dressed in a white floral ankle length sundress with her neat curls tucked underneath her cloche hat. They smiled at him and greeted him as the young master of the house that he was. Sean nodded slightly as he reached for the door.
The door swung open, Sean was taken aback when he looked up and saw his father Sean Von Camper III. Sean knew every interaction with his father was a test to check if he was worthy of the family name. His father glowered as Sean shrank into his body and slivered away from his father’s gaze and made his way to the rose garden.
