Unwanted visits

Unwanted visits

"You decide, we can resolve your intrusion peacefully... or unconventionally."

(How could I beat the incarnation of Loki, god of deceit and head of the Ragnarok that befell in ancient mythology? I don't even know if Typhon is strong. My chances are practically nil.)

"I've never been one to resort to the impulsive tricks of instinct, well, both, me my incarnation," he admitted without even a hint of embarrassment on his features.

Hansung was able to recognize that he was not of foreign origin after observing him in the light of the full moon. His shoulder-length brown hair parting into strands only made him look more outstanding, not to mention his green eyes and his aura, when it wasn't hidden.

"So?"

"Huh? Oh yes, my apologies. It's just that hospital rooms bring back less than pleasant memories."

"Why are you, Donsuk Haun, a catastrophe level incarnation, in a hospital?"

His eyes sharpened, occasionally fixing on the bare palms and the reactions of the opponent.

(Did I have the same bravery when the snowmen slaughtered the entire group while I fled with my uncle on a man?)

His gaze drifted over his shoulder to his relative in a coma, with tubes attached to life-sustaining machines. The beeping of the electronic pulse was the only noise in the place, aside from the footsteps of whoever passed in the hallway.

(No, of course there is a difference; the subject in front of me is a threat, and I don't intend to let my guard down until the intentions at first glance change for the better.)

He turned his gaze to the stranger he had just seen on the news on the television he no longer had. He was no longer so far away, nor halfway, there were only a few steps between them. Hansung responded with the clench of his left-handed fist, launching it towards the fugitive's abdomen, but he only hit the air where a greenish cloud dissipated. A few meters in front of him still lay the incarnation.

"By Odin's beard, you are faster than I expected," he admitted with a small laugh.

(I must protect us. No, I must protect him, my uncle. I owe him enough to act like a cowardly, selfish asshole again.)

"Five four..."

Donsuk's haughty and joking attitude was cast aside as fast as a lightning strike.

"They did the same to me. What they tried to do to me and failed is the same thing they will do to you, child."

"Explain yourself."

"You are an average hunter, even if you were an ordinary citizen you would know what a catastrophic incarnation or a catastrophic deity is. Our patrons were once entities of great danger to humanity from this astro."

"Simplify your words, I'm not as bright as you," he warned taking two steps forward with a threatening stance.

"We are a daunting threat to them in the imminent sense. Even if we behave and are of faithful intentions, they have seen us in a bad light, and will continue to do so. That is why they prioritize the search for rank and patron deity. Since you walked out of that dungeon after ten minutes you didn't even wonder why they paid so much attention."

I didn't want to admit it. He always lived calmly staying below the heels of the greatest, so no one would notice him. The world around was falling apart.

"The same could happen to incarnations with good deities."

"What is your deity?"

"Typhoon," he replied without opposition.

(Am I so wrapped up in the doubts that flood my head that I give an honest answer without hesitation?)

"Typhon, remember that. Doesn't that sound like the titan born to defeat Zeus and take Olympus to avenge the titans thrown into Tartarus after the titanomachy? You know that, don't try to deny it, you've read and heard mythologies since you were use of memory. Wouldn't you like to know why there are so many coincidences in your life lately?"

(His words from him mean too much to easily enter my ears.)

"And how could I trust you? I've never seen you in person, I don't know you, let alone you me!"

There was little space left between them, it was already a personal area.

"And how is it that I know so much about you? How did I know that you were in this hospital, that you completed a dungeon like no one else, that the history of stories that we considered fantasies until twelve years ago were your favorites? I know as much about you as I don't know anything."

Silence once again ruled the room to the point where only his breathing could be heard. Internal questions accumulated in Hansung's thoughts. Even squeezing his eyes shut and tensing up he couldn't calm down, he never knew how to do it.

Donsuk started looking towards the door with an expression of disbelief and frustration.

When you have nothing, you only have courage and stubbornness. That was Hansung Yoi-Lung, a C rank hunter adventurer, just the brave stubbornness to solo raid a dungeon out of reach for him. But he could not perceive or guess that this stupid decision would bring him more harm than good.

He would now face mythological pantheons and entire nations for defending his right to life, which was only a butterfly effect.
