What looked like the elements, Water Fire Lightning earth, and air, poured out of the forest behind us. Joanne gasped in shock- and the beams hit her. 

 

Her scream sounded throughout the woods, as she lye...deliberated entirely. When the smoke cleared, a scorched, soaked, unconscious Joanne lay. Even though she was a terrible human being, my heart ached to see her lying there, blood on her face, dirt on her body. 

I ran to her, tears streaming down my face. What had we done? I lay my head on her body, feeling her slow breathing- the rising and falling of her chest, the air that escaped through her mouth. A howl echoed nearby. Holly lightly took my hand, leading Ariel, Aster, Charlie, and me inside. 

“What are you doing?!” I screamed. “What are you doing?!”

Holly looked at me, sympathetic. “Oh Baby…shh, It's okay. I'm going to get her, and put her in the room we held Great Uncle Mikasi.” Aster put a hand on my shoulder. 

“It's all right.” He whispered. Charlie nodded.

“Your okay, and so will your…mother.” She hesitated on the last word. But did she mean it? I looked into her eyes, searching them for any sign of fib. But to my surprise, couldn't find anything. 

She pulled me in tight, for a warm hug. I rested my head on her shoulder letting out a sob. No one could understand how it felt to have you're own mother want to kill you for you’re magic. At least no one here could. I let out a shuddered sigh, tears drying against Charlie’s tight embrace.
