On her way back, Commander Moon didn’t find the deer that was staring at her in suspicion. However, she did hear a young kitten’s voice near Moon Plains.
I love to sing
I love to shout
I also love to dance!
Who was that coming from? Commander Moon headed farther into the forest in Moon Family territory when she felt tiny claws pierce into her back. She nearly screeched when a soft paw covered her mouth. “Nice to meet you, Moonwing,” she purred. “I’m Rainbow.”
“That’s not my name,” Commander Moon mewed. Where did that kitten get the name from?
“Well, anyway, this Tick fellow is looking for Mara-lu,” continued Rainbow. She hopped off Commander Moon’s back as she turned to face the purple molly. Now that she sees this kitten, she had multiple colors in her pelt as well as blue eyes.
Doesn’t care now does she? Commander Moon thought felling irritated. However, she was concerned about Tick since the small child had mentioned him looking for his wife. “Do you by chance have seen Tick?”
Nodding her head, Rainbow turned around and headed towards the direction of where Eddie and Princess Grape’s summer house is at. When they made it to the now empty house since it was autumn, Commander Moon spotted the wolf lying in the grass complaining about not finding Mara-lu.
“Uh, Tick, you doing alright?” Commander Moon asked. Rainbow had her eyes narrowed as she stared at the wolf with disappointment.
“No, Mara-lu disappeared when I woke up from a nap,” Tick explained getting onto his paws. He appeared calm so Commander Moon wasn’t sure if he was worried about his mate or just wasn’t showing it to them.
“Maybe she’s in the Nursery,” Rainbow mewed with confidence, surprising Commander Moon. How much did this kitten know about Family life? Or was she just guessing? Tick stared at the rainbow kitten in confusion as he didn’t recognize her. “Stop looking at me, mutt!”
She startled the wolf and he jumped to his paws. He then raced back to camp with Commander Moon and Rainbow following behind. Hopefully Rainbow was right and that Mara-lu moved to the Nursery while her mate was asleep. A Scout Patrol waved as they went by, but the three barely noticed.
Commander Moon was panting, exhausted from all the running, but didn’t stop to rest as she headed into the Nursery with Rainbow and Tick. In the Nursery, Heartfur was grooming Mara-lu while she was lightly snoring. Safe and sound, thank goodness, Commander Moon thought as she breathed a sigh of relief.
“You didn’t look, did you?” Rainbow growled.
Tick gave a nervous laugh. “Guess I should’ve checked before making assumptions,” he barked. He then yawned and left the Nursery. All that stress must’ve tired him out.
“Do you want to join?” Commander Moon asked Rainbow. No matter how weird the rainbow molly was, she had some qualities that may be of value to Moon Family.
“Might as well, since you need some guidance,” Rainbow meowed. Commander Moon lowered her ears and the kitten trotted off before she could correct her. Something was weird about Rainbow.
When Commander Moon exited the Nursery, she spotted a Chihuahua mother with her son at the camp entrance. It was starting to get worrying that all these animals have been showing up to Moon Family camp. What is going on for them to seek Moon Family and not some other Family that may be closer?
“Hello, can I help you?” Commander Moon asked. She might as well be friendly since this mother looked like she was injured. There were odd dark purple burns across her body, and they didn’t look like they came from a fire.
“Do you mind if we seek shelter here?” The mother asked. She then nudged her son who was whimpering as he stuck close to her fur. “Our home was destroyed by Docdins, and my husband was killed.”
Commander Snow mentioned those vermin, Commander Moon thought. It was unfortunate that an outsider had been attacked by those Unique Creatures. If anything, she could always move in with Bushy Plant when he leaves. “A Commander mentioned that,” she told the light brown Chihuahua. She then pointed her tail at the Nursery. “You can sleep in there after Riverbird checks your wounds.”
“Thank you,” Chihuahua barked. She nudged her son Josh over towards the Doctor’s Cave. “I’ll try and get in touch with Confetti and see if I can move in.”
As Chihuahua and her son walked away to get their wounds checked, Commander Moon lowered her ears when Princess Grape and Baruti Landson entered their camp. What now? Commander Moon wondered, getting annoyed by Baruti’s presence. Did Zeval need to see her again?
Alongside the two, they brought some sort of fairy with them. She was scanning the camp as if not noticing the purple molly that is standing before her and her friends.
“I can feel the Pure Heart somewhere in this camp,” the odd fairy whispered.
Commander Moon grunted when Trainee Lily and Trainee Sean came to see the guests. She hadn’t expected the two to pop out of nowhere with curious eyes. “What’s a Pure Heart?” Trainee Sean asked.
“And why is it in our camp?” Trainee Lily meowed with wide eyes. She looked around to see if she could find said Pure Heart floating around.
Princess Grape smiled as she rubbed the two siblings’ heads. “Maybe later, when I feel like explaining,” she said in a soft voice. However, she looked annoyed in her eyes by the question.
The small fairy sighed as she floated over to Commander Moon. Her eyes had some odd stars in them as they pleaded for help. “Do you mind if I search your camp?” She asked.
“Um, I don’t think so,” Commander Moon meowed lowering her ears. She wasn’t sure who this woman was or why she needed to search her camp for some Pure Heart. Was it going to help stop Mr. Heart? She then looked at Baruti. “What’s going on?”
“Sienna is looking for the Heart of Truth,” Baruti explained. Thankfully he wasn’t going to shun her answer like Princess Grape did. The tanned woman was cooing at Trainee Sean and Trainee Lily who cringed. “Mr. Heart committed a crime and now we’re on to him.”
“Seems legit,” Commander Moon mewed. She turned her head to see Sienna searching through the camp. Bushy Plant’s children watched with wide eyes at what the small fairy was doing.
Eventually she stopped at the Nursery and held her hands out as a beam of light shot down at the Nursery entrance. Commander Moon was about to leap at her until a light blue heart appeared where the beam used to be. She couldn’t help but marvel at the light.
“How’d that get here?” Commander Moon asked.
“Bop probably lost it after defeating Black Oak,” stated Princess Grape bluntly. She had her arms crossed and there was a bit of scratches on her arms that most likely came from Trainee Lily or Trainee Sean.
Sienna didn’t seem fazed by her comment as she floated towards her two pals. “It’s safe with us, that’s all that matters,” she said in her soft voice. She then turned to Commander Moon. “I do hope to meet you again.”
I rather see you than Baruti, Commander Moon thought as she waved goodbye. She then sighed, hoping that was the last of the visitors for today. How did she deal with this all those months ago? It’s like I’m a magnet attracting trouble.
