Hunter approached him just at the right time taking a seat right in front of him as he watched uncomfortably. He told him to continue showing a strict stare with his ruby eyes. Cloudy suddenly no longer felt upset but pressured seeing Hunter more serious than he normally would be. The cold air began to rise with the sun leaving the land and the moon showing itself for all to see. He tried and tried again with only his effort going taking him nowhere. In that moment he was at his lowest so far not wanting to be inferior to the other two. He shouted mad at nothing but himself but seemed to almost take out his anger toward Hunter.
"Grah! The other's already have this part down while I'm stuck! I don't get it even a little bit of this! It's frustrating! I don't want to be a burden to the rest of us!"
Hunter puts his arm on his shoulder giving him a gentle smile. He pointed with his finger areas that could help him and gave him some images to use if he fails to do anything else.
"You don't have to worry. Why? Because I'll be here to help you... As long as I'm here you WILL get this. I swear upon my name."
Cloudy only locked eyes with his still upset at himself. Hunter stood up and rubbed his hair telling him that some take longer than others and that meant their time for greatness will just come a bit later. Taking a quick gander around he tried to see if Royal and Nick were around, fortunately not spotting them anywhere. He whispered in his ear telling him not to tell the other two about a secret he had since it was quite embarrassing.
"What is it?"
Cloudy said starting to cheer up just a bit.
"Remember DON'T tell anyone about this. It's really embarrassing."
"Ha-ha. I get it- I get it! Tell me."
"*sigh*... When I first started training it didn't take me hours like them nor days. It didn't take me months to learn it either. It took me five whole years to learn just to conjure up the energy around. I never gotten the help like you guys will. I was alone. Surviving on my own. I can still remember that day like it was yesterday. Terrible~. That's besides the point though. With my help I promise you that you will learn this by the end of next month and that is a pledge I will keep."
"Only in a single day is what you could do what took me months almost an entire year to do. You have talent kiddo! Don't beat yourself up about it and focus on the goal at hand! ...Alright?"
His eyes brimmed with life and new found determination after hearing about just a speck of his life back then and decided to continue with it until he accomplished what he set as his goal.
"Atta boy~. Get to it."
He turned away leaving Cloudy with newfound determination and headed inside the cabin ready to make dinner for them all. Before moving inside though Cloudy called out for him wanting to say something.
"What is it Cloudy?"
"Mhm~... I-I... I just want to let you know that.. 𝐼'𝒹 𝐿𝒶𝓎 𝑀𝓎 𝐿𝒾𝒻𝑒 𝒟𝑜𝓌𝓃 𝐹𝑜𝓇 𝒴𝑜𝓊."
Hunter was astonished by what he said almost a little emotional hearing a kid say that. He marched over to him granting him a warming hug as Cloudy told Hunter not to be so creepy. Yet Cloudy hugged back needing a fatherly figure to spoil him at least a little.
"Hey! Don't act like Royal he's enough as it is with his dark jokes."
They both let out a laugh before Hunter went back inside the cabin to prepare dinner leaving Cloudy alone to keep on going. From there on the three trained for days trying their best to get ahold of their newfound power, some having more difficult than others. Faster than they all expected an entire month had went by just like that. Their bond had grown stronger with a little bit of comic relief in the mix. They really were a family now. In the morning Hunter lined the three up outside ready to see how much they've progressed with the first to be tested being Nick. He stood in front of all three as they observed with the wind pushing on them all. The trees shifted and the snow from branches fell, leaves slowly swaying from side to side before gently sliding across the clear white snow. Nick took in a deep breath of cold fresh air before exhaling. He opened his eyes as they began to shine brightly of the color orange. Aura surrounded him completely with clear indication he had mastered bringing it out as if it was second nature. Hunter clapped his hands applauding him for reaching the basics of the basics. Explaining certain weak points and bad habits he made.
"You are currently using too much right now. You may have gotten use to bringing it out but with how you are right now its like taking in a puff of air and continuing to try and suck in air without letting it out. You'll tire yourself out if you do that. But I do spot you already trying to control it which is great. Keep it up."
"I'll take note of that~."
Nick muttered thinking of how he can improve.
Next was Royal in which he immediately did what he was supposed to do without anyone telling him and saw a purple shine spawn from his eyes. The energy circulated around him differently compared to Nick's. It was far more gentle instead of sporadic and aggressive. It was tame and flowed like a fish in a water stream. They also took notice of how he was breathing slowly and softly as one normally would when breathing without energy.
Hunter had some things to critique about and used his mouth to say what his mind was thinking.
"Yours is almost the opposite of Nick's. Well done. Although that also means the opposite problem is there with you. You aren't comfortable with using enough. There must be a balance of how much is used at all times. Enough to change to other methods such as sharpening quickly without using too much aura while not using too little having no effect when using one of those methods."
He slides his sight over toward Cloudy most excited about his progression and ordered him to do his best and show him in his own way. He nodded in response wanting to do things his way. Cloudy took a deep breath in as the rest hoped and wished the best for him. He searched deep within thinking of an image to help him picture what aura was to him. He wanted to do things freely without worry nor care. Wishing to explore anew and see wonderous and mysterious lands. Ever since he was in the orphanage his dream was to fly and travel the distant lands with a look of sheer gratitude for being given his freedom and now that was finally possible. He opened his eyes slowly as a yellow glint came from his iris. Aura flew out from his backside coating him in layers of energy with the top image revealing a pair of majestic white wings resembling angels. Hunter let out a small grin happy to know he finally found his way. He moved toward Cloudy giving him an unexpected hug as he blushed not expecting anything.
"It-.. It was beautiful Cloudy. Out of the three of you you did the best. That is not because they were more talented nor were lucky. You worked the hardest and it showed. You mastered the activation. I couldn't find any mistakes. It was a perfect balance. Just like this~."
He showed an example covering himself in aura as they watched his crimson aura flow around him trying to devour the nearby energy around as if it was sentient. Before that could happen he stashed it away and said next would be controlling it in order to use the three methods that was talked about so much. He changed subjects though pointing out another extremely vital part of controlling aura. It spend it as well. Meaning there is a limit to how much one can use.
"Aura exhaustion is the last thing someone would want. It's more than just inconvenient, it's fatal if you're in battle. That is why you must learn to expand how much you can take and hold."
He brought out a piece of paper and wrote down with a pencil he strangely had on the go pointing out what they can do.
"Each individual's energy is unique and has the potential for many possibilities. There are those out in the world that require more skill and energy to use their powers due to the rewards they may give. Since you have no control over how much you use there is a high chance you will burn out if not taken care of."
He drew a bucket with a gigantic hole at the bottom.
"How is this relevant to using energy?"
Royal said curious with a bit of confusion in his voice.
He explained that if someone fills water inside the bucket the water would go right through it just as fast. The water signifies aura while the bucket is the person's storage. The larger the hole is the faster one uses up energy which in fact increases potency but for a cost of more aura.
"Make the hole smaller and it can hold more while conserving that energy to do more things. There are going to be times where you must enlarge the hole but that is not what I will be focusing on. There is one last thing as well~. Can you guys tell me?"
"Is it the bucket itself?"
Cloudy claimed not very sure about his answer.
"You are correct."
"The bucket is also a key piece in this. Which is how much the person can hold. Training how much aura you can intake and store in order to use. Make the bucket larger or wider and possibly both will help you last longer in a fight. This is your next task. Control and monitor how much you use to help expand that bucket whilst making the hole inside grow when needed and shrink at will."
He shouts loudly the importance and how difficult it would be so he prepared ahead of time mentioning that they will be fighting monsters to help them get more experience. The three shouted in panic with Cloudy reminding them that they never had killed anything before. Hunter was the grim reminder for them all that the world was rough and dark in so many ways and that life was also just as horrifying. For only a little he spoke about himself.
"When I was only but a child no more than five years old I killed my first monster. It was nauseating. I wanted to pass out but I couldn't because if I did there would also be other monsters nearby to take advantage of my defenselessness. When I was six I killed my first human. That feeling I felt before was multiplied tenfold at the time and I almost gave up. But I had a goal in mind and I had to reach it now matter what."
"Did you reach that goal yet~?"
Royal said nervously.
".... No. I never did. Let's forget about what I said alright? There is no need to dig into my life."
The three couldn't help but feel depressed knowing he had went though something far worse than they could ever think of. Not even a minute later Hunter cheered them all up putting the mood into a bubbly one exclaiming to get their things and be ready to go out and see the world. They had no more time to worry as they rushed to grab the little things they had with supplies around the cabin.
