CHAPTER EIGHT
Emerson’s eyes fluttered open, still drowsy from his slumber, the digital clock on his nightstand table display the time 6:43am. He blinked a few times, yawning all the while scratching his stomach.
His room was dark save for the snippet of sunlight that slipped in through the cracks of curtains. A hot breath touched his neck, raising goosebumps on his skin. He stiffened when there was a shuffling and incoherent mumbling. Emerson soon recalled that Mason stayed over. Turning, he came face to face with the blonde jock. Mason’s eyes fluttered while he was asleep, his mouth slightly open.
Being lured by the way his chest expanded when he drew in air, Emerson was reminded of William, sure Mason was an attractive guy, but for some reason Emerson could point out how William was much more attractive than his Best friend. His eyes closed, at the memory of being on top William filled his mind, he remembered the sensation of pressing down on him, remember the moan that slip passed those lips and he harden in his shorts.
His hands moved-before he could stop them-palming himself, he bit his lips from the pleasure of it. Looking down at the bulge on his shorts. It was painfully obvious what it meant.
“What the hell am I doing?” Emerson whispered, withdrawing his hand, he eyed Mason to find his friend still asleep, relief flooded him knowing he wasn’t caught. Emerson got off the bed and sat by his desk, he twirled around, his back to Mason, frowning down at his junk.
His heart was beating so fast, “what the hell?...” Emerson muttered to himself “this can’t be happening”, he breathed out, rubbing his face. “Get your shit together Emerson”.
If only Emerson had checked on his friend a second time, he would have seen another pair of eyes staring at him.
“Hurry up or we’re going to be late." Emerson yelled down the hall, placing his backpack on the love seat in the sitting room, he moved swiftly across the room into the kitchen, to stuff his face with food. He was dressed in a white shirt, a black hoodie over that with a pair of blue jeans and sneakers to match.
“Slow down honey, you’re going to choke on your food”, Emerson’s mother, Brenda warned, as if summoning the action, Emerson choked on a spoon of cereals. Gently patting her son, Brenda passed him a glass of water. Emerson gulped it down just in time to see Mason and Benjamin coming towards the living area.
Emerson immediately stood up, picking up his backpack and headed for the door.
“Wait up, I haven’t had breakfast!”, Mason yelled.
“We are late, we gotta go now”.
“But breakfast!”, Mason stressed “You know how I get when I don’t eat in morning. Besides why do u get to eat and I don’t”. Mason said with a pout.
“Not my fault, you delayed us”, he said while opening the door. “Come on or I’ll leave without you”. He gestured Mason out the door. Benjamin quietly kissed his mother goodbye, grabbed two apples from the kitchen counter and saunter toward the door. Mason furrowed his brow, “God, why are you so frantic this morning”, Mason asked grabbing his backpack and accepting the fruit from Benjamin.
“Am not frantic, just don’t want to be late”.
“Right...”, Mason drew sarcastically, stepping out the door.
“Bye Mom” Emerson called out.
“Have a nice day.” she replied.
Emerson opened his car door, igniting the key. Mason was at the front seat and Benjamin at the back.
Emerson has been anxious since morning incident, in the confines of the bathroom, he lecture himself in front of a mirror how it was only his morning wood and nothing more. Then proceed to take a very cold shower because he wouldn’t be caught pleasuring himself. The thought plague him all through the drive to school and by the time they got there he was one step closer to ripping his hairs out.
The school was a beehive of activities, kids littered the premises, Benjamin was out the door before Emerson pulled the car to a stop.
Mason spotted Jeremy and Nickolas, by the entrance, they were members of the rugby team and friends of the two.
Jeremy-a play boy by heart, he stood at around 6 ft tall, with broad shoulders and lean physique. His sandy blond hair were always perfectly styled and piercing blue eyes gave him a confident appearance.
“Hey guys, how’s it going?” Jeremy greeted pulling Emerson into a half hug.
“Hey” Nicholas greeted. Returning Mason handshake. Nickolas was tall with lanky frame, his dark hair was styled into a messy quiff, giving him a slightly rebellious and edgy look.
“Oi, where did you run off to, Mason here was looking all over for you.” Jeremy questioned Emerson.
“What?” Emerson asked.
“At the party, dude you bailed on us” Nickolas clarified.
“Yeah, this one here.” Jeremy said pointing at Mason. “blew his chance with a Ava, men it was wild.” Emerson turn to Mason, this was news to him.
Emerson and Mason continued into the halls for their lockers nodding goodbye in their friends direction.
“What happened with Ava?.” Emerson asked.
“She’s mad at me…”Mason sigh. “Left her hanging while looking for you.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
“Why did you not say anything yesterday?”
“Didn’t get the chance, you were all pissy when I came over and then dinner happened… but seriously what was that about?”
Emerson stopped at his locker, he opened it-using the door to shield his face from Mason. That was a topic he was not ready to discuss yet, what if Mason didn't understand or worst thought he was in the wrong, No, he couldn’t afford to lose his friend.
“He's always like that, it’s nothing.” Emerson answered, referring to his father.
“He was really worked up about you getting a girlfriend.” Mason stated.
“Umm…”
“Dude!” Emerson reluctantly withdrew from his hiding place, he spared Mason a glance busying himself with his books. Mason placed his hand over Emerson’s, halting his unrestrained movement.
Emerson moved back until he was pressed against the lockers.” Can we not talk about this?” he asked, and when Mason went to answer he added. “…Please.”
Mason signed, pulling on his bag straps. “ Fine, you gonna tell me who you when home with?”
“Oh, I don’t really remember much of what happened… must have drank a lot.” Emerson gave a nervous chuckle. Mentally slapping himself.
Mason eyed him skeptically, but then they spotted Ava conversing with her peers, dressed in leather jacket paired with skinny jeans and ankle length boots.
“Right…” Mason said bringing his eyes back to Emerson. “…I’ve got to go…this conversation isn’t over.” Emerson watched him jock off to meet Ava, he buried his head back into his locker taking a deep breath.
“Why did you lie?” with a startled reaction Emerson’s narrowly escaped hitting his head against his locker door.
Emma smiled up at him, she was petite and graceful, she had long chestnut brown hair, that cascaded down her back in soft waves, she was dress in a flowery gown.
“Do you always sneak up on people?”
“Sorry, force of habit.” She gave another smile displaying rows of straight white teeth.
“So tell me.” She said eagerly waiting for Emerson’s reply.
Emerson furrow his brow. “You know it’s rude to eavesdrop.” He wasn’t entirely sure why she was talking to him…again.
“I wasn’t eavesdropping, I just couldn’t not pay attention.” Emerson gave her a blank stare.
“Right...” he drew “…I don’t see how that concerns you.”
“I know you left with William that day, so why lie?” There was a little increase in his heart rate, for reasons unknown to him, he felt he had to explain himself.
“I did not lie, I said I couldn’t remember much of what happened.”
“Another lie.” Emerson heartbeat increase another nudge. She really was getting on his nerves. Slamming his locker shut.
He scan the hall, closing in on Emma, backing her into a wall. “What’s your deal? Are you stalking me or something?”
Emma strained her neck to meet Emerson’s eyes. Although petite, Emma wasn’t intimidated by the proximity. A glimmer crossed her eyes and she smiled, a smile so genuine it rattled Emerson.
“Hey handsome.” A voiced called from behind him. In the seconds that followed a hand was placed over his shoulder and he was pulled away from Emma coming face to face with William. Emerson inhaled deeply basking in William’s sent and like earlier this morning, he felt stirring in his lower region.
He stumbled a few feet away, effectively breaking William’s hold on him, muttered a small 'hey', he headed for class.
He could feel the burning sensation of Emma’s eyes on he. He distantly heard William asking her something between the lines of ‘what was that about' but was too far down the hall to hear her reply.
His heart stilled beat frantically over his ribcage and the swelling in his groin remain the same. Emerson slump down on a seat placing his back over his lap to hide his little problem.
A sigh escaped him, he glare at his hands like they were the source of his problem. Emerson what the hell…
“Shut up, shut up it’s nothing.” He whispered. “We’re fine…I’m fine.”
There was motion beside him and Emerson gazed up in time to see William seat beside him, Emerson became alarmed. “What are you doing?”
“What do you mean? We’ve math’s together.”
“Why are you seating here, next to me.”
“Why do you think sweetheart?” Emerson dick harden even more at the word.
“Don’t call me that.” He bit out. Glancing to the front when the door was pulled open and their math's teacher-Mrs. Indira walked in, the notorious middle-aged math teacher at Crescent Valley High School, with her unkempt graying hair and a permanent scowl etched on her face, She possessed the attitude of a pregnant African elephant. Emerson spotted Emma giving him a knowing smile.
“Can I get your number?” William whispered, leaning towards Emerson.
“What?”
“Your contact.” William said waving his phone. “You ran out on me last time and I couldn’t check to see if you were okay.”
Emerson accepted the phone, inserted his contact and gave it back to William.
“Thanks.” William winked at him. Emerson had to squeeze his bag to keeping control.
“Want to come by my place today?.”
“What?”
William gave him a look a that says 'you heard me'.
“I can’t…I’ve practice today.” Emerson swallowed hard, tearing his eyes from William to look at the board. Through out the course of the lecture, Emerson couldn’t make out a word Mrs. Indira said, amiss sneaky remarks from William and the ever raging boner that plagued him. Immediately the class came to an end he was the first one out the door.
