Chapter 4: Dragon Siblings
Tanzanite’s POV
A gentle breeze passed through the meadow, scooping up a couple of crisp green leaves along the way. But, the serene nature of the meadow was soon cut into pieces like a knife slicing into paper after the breeze carried along the sound of laughter.
“Oh, come on. You gotta be faster; otherwise, I’m going to beat you to the finish line,” Tanzanite said with a playfulness to his tone as he watched his sister struggle to keep up with him as the two of them continued to run through the meadow that they called home.
“No fair, you’re the one who cheated and got a head start before me; otherwise, I would be beating you right now,” Amethyst stated with a pout on her lips as she ran after him, while a laugh escaped his lips from hearing her comment before he urged her to hurry up since they were almost toward the cliffs at the end of the meadow.
“Looks like I officially beat you in this race to the finish line, and it looks like the sun hasn’t set just yet, which means we haven’t missed the sunset,” Tanzanite said before he looked over his shoulder to see his younger sister who had finally arrived at the finish line before she leaned forward and placed her hands on her knees as she attempted to catch her breath.
After she took in a final breath to restore the oxygen within her lungs that she had lost from the race, she smiled at her brother once he mentioned that they had arrived in time to see the sunset.
“You know what that means, right? That this time I get a head start,” she said with a smile before she dashed by her brother before she jumped off the cliff with a big smile on her lips. As she slowly started to head towards the bottom, which housed an ocean since the meadow they lived in was nearby an ocean; once someone reached the end of the meadow, small ponds and rivers could be found in the middle of the meadow.
“Hey! At least wait up for me,” Tanzanite said before jumping off the cliff as well with a happy smile on his lips as he felt the wind start to blow upwards before it rushed through his short dark, choppy purple hair as he descended toward the ocean below the cliff.
“Then you better keep up with me because I won’t let you win this race!” She yelled, and with a graceful swirl, a bright purple light surrounded her. Inside this light, her skin changed to a light shade of purple, and soon a large set of wings that had tones of light purple and pink extended out of her back. It hadn’t taken long before her body doubled in size and morphed into one fitting of a dragon.
Tanzanite wasted no time in transforming into a dragon himself, and a darker purple light surrounded him. His skin changed to a darker shade of purple, and a large pair of wings burst out of his back that matched his sister's wings, except they were a darker shade of purple, and he had tones of blue to his wings. Once the bright light faded out, he was soon transformed into a dragon like his sister, and he soon flew after her as the two of them flew close to the ocean water’s surface as the rays from the sunset danced along the waves.
After the two passed by the meadow’s cliffs about three times, it was Amethyst who transformed back into her human form the fourth time around to mark the end of their race first, meaning that she had beaten her brother in their second race. It wasn’t long before her brother had soon transformed back into his human form by the meadow’s cliffs.
“Alright, alright, I admit defeat, you won our second race, but next time, I won’t let you beat me,” he said with a smile before his dark purple eyes looked downward after he noticed a bright crimson red coloring in the corner of his eyes on her right leg.
“Wait, when did you cut your leg?! Here let me see! This is why I always tell you to be more careful with your landings,” Tanzanite said before quickly kneeling in front of her, so he could take a better look at the injury on her right leg.
“Look, I’m fine, it’s only just a scratch after all, and just a little blood,” Amethyst said, trying to make him feel better, but she knew her brother too well. He always flipped out when she got any sort of cut or injury, even if it wasn’t that bad, and even if it wasn’t an injury, he was also always highly protective of her.
“Shoot, I didn’t bring anything to treat a cut,” Tanzanite said before he ran his right-hand fingers through his hair since he wasn't sure what to do, and once his right hand left his hair, he rested his chin against his hand as he was deep in thought on trying to think of anything he could do to treat her cut.
“You’re always worried about me, and what about you? Look, you have a cut on your cheek, and it's starting to bleed,” she pouted at him as she crossed her arms, and Amethyst had stated it numerous times before. If Tanzanite was going to protect her and have her back, then she was going to do the same for him because if he was too busy worrying about her well-being, then who was watching his?
A soft chuckle left his lips before he quickly wiped the blood off his cheek with his right hand before he stood back up, “I guess I wasn’t as careful as I should’ve been either. Say, that reminds me, didn’t everyone else head into town today? I would’ve asked Lapis if she had supplies to treat a cut or something since she normally does.” Tanzanite stated as he looked over at his sister.
“They did, but the sun is starting to go down, which means it shouldn’t be too much longer before everyone gets here. Plus, you know it isn’t that surprising that Skyla was about to drag Adrian into town with her,” She said with a sly grin on her face before she looked over at her brother with her light purple eyes since it wasn’t hard for the two of them to know that Skyla always tended to get what she wanted from Adrian despite him acting moody about it.
“Yeah, the guy tends to do pretty much everything Skyla asks of him, especially even if he hates Silverlya; he’ll still go with her. I can say the same thing about Majesty and Lapis, the two of them are rarely apart,” Tanzanite said with a chuckle as the two of them started to walk through the meadow.
“But, you know they would deny it or be unhappy if they heard us talking about them,” Amethyst said with a giggle before a cool breeze passed by the both of them; before the breeze gently lifted up her long dark purple hair before dropping it once the breeze had finally finished passing by them.
“Oh, yeah, Adrian would throw a major fit, and that reminds me, next time, how about we go into town?” he said with a smile as he looked over at his sister.
A soft chuckle left her lips, “Okay, but only if you’re paying,” she said with a grin before she dashed ahead of him.
“Hey! That’s not fair, and also, you can’t just start another race without telling me first,” he said before running after her.
“I’ll protect my sister no matter what the cost is!”
