Barnabas said goodbye to Jossey and packed a couple of bags. He had extra clothes, his notebooks, pens, incense, and all of his fears. Vincent was bringing tea, food, supplies, his camera, and probably more books than was practical.
“Off to a new life,” said Vincent, grinning.
“Yeah.”
Vincent stepped forward and kissed Barnabas hard. The young sorcerer forgot to be worried for a moment, with his hands in Vincent’s hair and their bodies pressed tightly together. When he broke away, though, all the anxiety came flooding back, even though Vincent was still smiling at him. Barnabas slipped his hand into Vincent’s and tried to convince himself that they would have a fun adventure and not a shitty adventure. He wasn’t very successful.
