Mika waited for Vilem’s answer with his heart in his throat, fearing the Vampire’s refusal. The King seemed to debate, tilting his head to one side, before tilting it the other way, looking at him with piercing red eyes. Mika gulped silently, his free hand squeezing his sweatpant with the tip of its finger, while he tried to keep the sweat off his hand held hostage by Vilem’s strong grip.
“Of course you can write a letter to Charlie, Mika. I would never keep you from doing something that would lighten your heart.” Vilem said, trying to stretch his mouth into a reassuring smile. Since meeting the shifter, he had found himself smiling more and more, but it was still to the stade of a small smirk, and not quite like the smile he wanted to show to Mika now to make him relax.
Mika still felt relieved by seeing the attempted smile, holding back a chuckle at the grimace-looking result, before turning to take a paper and a pen from the drawer under the kitchen’s counter. Still without letting go of Vilem’s hand, the black panther quickly wrote his thoughts and thanks to Charlie, and ended his letter with an explanation of the current situation. He also left his work email as he didn’t have a phone, so that the Doctor would be able to keep in touch with him.
He drew a small heart next to his name, but the grunt that he heard next to him made him change his mind.
He changed his heart to a star.
He turned back toward Vilem, ready to leave. The satisfied look that the Vampire sent him before heading for the entrance nearly made him shudder from pleasure. He liked pleasing others, there was no denying it.
As they passed by the entry, Mika stopped, along with Vilem, and shook off the man’s hand. Vilem let him do as he pleased with a slight disappointment tug in his heart, but it turned into happiness as the shifter opened the dresser and took out his coat. Vilem let the black panther help him put it on, enjoying the way their skin touched from time to time. Mika also gave him his shoes and while the Vampire was putting them on, the shifter took back the slippers he had landed and put them back to their places. He also took this time to take out his shoes and wear them. Vilem nearly pouted, having wanted to help the shifter dress. Mika then put on his hood, hiding his fluffy ears, before sliding his switching tail into his baggy pants.
Vilem frowned when he was done, seeing the way Mika looked ready to go out, only waiting for him to lead the way. While he was satisfied with how Mika was positioned to be slightly behind him, so as to let him have control, he was worried about the shifter’s lack of coat.
“You don’t have a coat? Or a vest?” The King asked, his tone full of disapproval. Even though it was only the beginning of fall, the weather was still chilly, and for an overprotective dominant like Vilem, the fact that his submissive was going out with only a light sweatshirt on was quite upsetting. Mika flinched at the tone, and the Vampire immediately felt guilty for using it. It seemed like his prey was more sensitive than he thought, he would have to be cautious. It made him wonder if the shifter had any mental illness. After all, he had dark eyebags, he looked underweight, he had scars on his body and he was often scared for unknown reasons. The way he was submissive could still be explained and considered normal, but his triggers were worrying. He would have to investigate it, but for now, he wanted the shifter to feel comfortable in his presence, and asking him about his mental health wasn’t a good way to do so.
Vilem didn’t find Mika less attractive because of his suspicions, he only wanted to treat the shifter the best way he could, even if it necessitated special help or accommodation. He didn’t want to one day do or say something and trigger the shifter. Before he could comfort the man, Mika opened his mouth to answer the question.
“I don’t… I normally don’t go out. I haven’t gone out since late summer, and it was always sunny and hot when I did, so we never thought of buying one… I’m sorry.” Mika said, looking down at his curled toes with sadness. His lower lip shook and a burning sensation started to appear in his eyes, his throat closing up.
He wanted to cry.
Since being rejected by his community and his father, he was always more prone to be sensible. He was way too emotional, and he knew it. It wasn’t like the Vampire had insulted him, or even shouted at him, but he could hardly handle the disappointment he felt coming from Vilem. Hell, the Vampire wasn’t even disappointed with him, maybe only a little worried, but not angry. Only, his overthinking brain immediately conjured the worst scenarios and now he was on the verge of crying.
He was exhausted from always being such a crybaby, it wasn’t like he wanted to cry. He knew he was dramatic, and it bothered him. The truth was, it wasn’t Vilem that was disappointed in the shifter, it was the black panther himself. He let out a huff of frustration as he felt the pickling sensation in his throat intensify. The fact that he couldn’t control his emotion was making him mad, and when he was angry, Mika’s mind transformed the frustration into sadness, so now, he wanted to cry even more.
God, he was so tired.
“Hey, hey, I’m not mad at you, Love. I would never be angry at you, Mika. Look at me, my little treasure.” Vilem took Mika’s chin in his hand and lifted it so he could gaze into his watery turquoise eyes.” I’m not upset about you not having a coat, only worried. I will lend you my coat for now and then we will go shopping for one for you, is it fine with you, Precious?” Vilem said, noting in the back of his mind that Mika wasn’t going out often, if not at all. It was worrying him, and he would try to get him to get a little more sunshine, but it would only depend on if it was the shifter’s preferences or if it was because of other factors like trauma.
Mika nodded, swallowing with difficulties around the knot in his throat.
“T-thank you, I know I’m being over dramatic and I’m sorry for that. I better warn you now, my emotions are really unstable. I hope you won’t find it too… bothersome.” Mika mumbled, trying to avoid the red bloody eyes burning circles into his face. By now, his visage would probably be puffed up and red from trying to hold back the tears, while his eyes were most certainly bloodshot. It was so embarrassing to be seen like that.
He was sure that he looked ugly like a pufferfish.
“Now, now, I won’t accept self-depreciation. Each person is unique, and being more sentimental isn’t bad in itself. You are more in sync with yourself, which is amazing, and you can express your emotions openly. I, for example, have difficulties feeling emotions and expressing them. I have my strength and you have yours. I will never find you bothersome, Love.” Vilem said, before letting his instincts take over before he could hold them back.
His pale lips met Mika’s dark pink ones, sending fireworks in both of their bodies.
Hey dear readers, they already kissed!
Can you relate to Mika?
Vilem is such a touchy person, he expresses himself more with actions than emotions. The kiss was an attempt to sooth Mika, but he will ask for consent next time, don’t worry ;)
