Ever since that fateful day in the janitor's closet, Freda had been more comfortable around Ola, who had certainly noticed. This wasn't the usual way in how the red head would find the other woman in her free time at work, or just visit her at the apartment even before dinner time.
No, this was more on the lines where Freda would make up situations where she could somehow brush against Ola's hands or bump into her mistakenly, or even ask Ola to spend time outside of the apartment for their weekends.
Not that Ola agreed to any outdoor activities with Freda. She was still a home body as she just rested at home during the weekends. Even Mr. and Mrs. Shafi wanted the other woman to go out and do something other than just stay indoors, but Ola was her own person, who made her own decisions.
Well, Freda didn't want that at all.
"Do you want to go watch a movie with me?" Ola raised an eyebrow in question as she barely took her attention away from the game she was playing. The brunette had asked Freda if she had wanted to play with her, but the red head had refused, only to sit beside the brunette on the sofa and stare at the woman.
Ola had noticed eyes on her, but she had just considered it as another one of Freda's weird habits. She had no problems with other people's weird habits. She was even fine with Howard's excessive gaming.
"Oh yes! Go watch a movie." Mrs. Shafi had chimed into the, barely there, conversation as she did something in the kitchen. Mr. Shafi was in the master bedroom, napping away. Weekends were nap days paired with newspaper games and good food.
"But I don't want to." Ola frowned as she calmly pressed the buttons on her controller, trying to drive a car while shooting at something at the same time.
"Just get off the sofa and go out for once!" Mrs. Shafi let out as she glanced from over her shoulder to her daughter, who simply continued playing.
Freda, in the meantime, was trying to think up on what to do to have the other woman just go to the movies with her. Even though she wanted to outright ask the other woman on a date, but she had also known a little about the Shafi household and their religious ideology.
She didn't even know if Ola was even interested in her, but then again, Ola wasn't interested in anyone at all. Freda thought it was more to do with the way they handled relationships and how only marriage led to a romantic relationship.
"Come on, Ola beta (meaning child, often used to refer to one's child or a child in general)." Mrs. Shafi had come out of the kitchen just to look at her daughter be stubborn. Freda had raised an eyebrow at the sudden use of an unknown word as she looked at the older woman.
Mrs. Shafi did worry about her daughter sometimes. The clear disinterest in everything was concerning since Ola hadn't been that way in her earlier years.
Freda glanced from the mother to the daughter and then back again, before she smiled at the idea she had just thought of at the moment. Sitting up straight beside the brunette, she began. "I was wondering about making bratwurst again for tonight." Ola was the first person who had turned to look at the red head beside her as her on-screen player died which brought her attention back to the tv screen.
Mrs. Shafi smirked as Ola frowned before throwing the control beside her on the sofa.
"I think you should make something new, dear." Mrs. Shafi had understood what Freda's intentions were. It made her almost regret not having a son again since Freda was such a keeper.
"Hm, I guess you're right, aunty." Freda nodded her head as she made a serious expression, completely making it seem as if she wasn't just pretending to get Ola's attention, which was already on her.
"No, you should make bratwurst." Ola had finally spoken up as she frowned at the red head. "Don't listen to mama, you just make bratwurst."
The red head wanted to laugh at how serious Ola looked at the moment as Mrs. Shafi spoke up. "How about you go out and have some fun and maybe then Freda might think about it?"
Ola's attention turned towards her mother who looked like a villain in the way she had a smirk playing on her lips. Her eyes bore into Ola's as she practically forced her own daughter to get out of the house and finally do something.
It only took Ola a few seconds before she realized what this was. Her eyes squinted at both of the woman around her before she shook her head in disbelief.
"You want me out of the house that much, woman." She mumbled before she stood up from the sofa, pulling on the hem of her large t-shirt. "Fine. Let's go somewhere." She sighed as she turned to look at the red head who had immediately jumped up from the sofa with excitement.
It looked funny as well as a little cute to Ola, who wasn't used to finding people cute. She only found cats and plants cute. And that was only because neither of the things didn't move much. Well, she also found furniture cute. Oh, and also every inanimate thing that stays in the same place.
Ola was strange like that, yes.
And Freda was equally strange as well. With her own little quirks which made her interesting, like the way she liked cooking European dishes from scratch, or the way she pulled on the tips of her shoulder-length hair whenever she smiled. Her smile was a whole different story too since it would enable the flowers and the rainbow behind her whole being to intensify.
Ola had been trying to find out the settings on how to decrease the intensity of that all, but she was coming up short. All she knew was that when Freda cried, everything felt wrong.
"I'll just go get a scarf." The red head nodded her head as Ola made her way over to her room just to get a scarf and not change out of the T-shirt she was currently wearing.
Well, there wasn't anything wrong with her shirt, just the fact that it featured a small tea stain on the chest area, but Ola didn't care.
Oh man.
Ola frowned as she tapped her right ear before grabbing the first scarf she came across in her room, which just happened to be a deep brown color.
Mrs. Shafi and Freda had been celebrating in the living room since they had been able to get Ola to finally move from the sofa, and not just because she had to go to the bathroom.
The older woman didn't admit this out loud, but she really liked the red head as a person since Freda had made herself somewhat a part of the Shafi family already. Her bratwurst was the prime reason why the family loved her so much, but other than that, it was because of how Ola had begun to take interest in conversations.
They all had long conversations during dinnertime, some would be humorous, while others would be a bit serious. But the talking always occurred.
Mrs. Shafi was grateful to the woman more than she thought herself.
Ola had come out of the room with her brown scarf wrapped around her neck as she looked at Freda, before she frowned at her mother. "Let's go." She had simply spoken before she walked over to the front door of the apartment.
Freda waved her hand to the older woman before she followed the brunette, who was now grabbing a jacket from the coat-closet. "We'll be back by evening." Freda had informed Mrs. Shafi, which got her a frown from Ola.
"What are we even going to do for that long?" The brunette had looked at her wristwatch to check the time, even though she knew it was 11 in the morning. Mrs. Shafi waved her hand dismissively as she looked at the red head, completely ignoring her own daughter's existence. "You are allowed to even come back after dinner."
"No. I want bratwurst." Ola frowned as she spoke up. She was not going to miss out on her new favorite dish just because of her mother's exaggeration, nor was she going to have her red-headed companion keep her out till late.
Freda had only giggled at the mother-daughter interaction before she nodded her head at Mrs. Shafi. "Bye aunty."
Ola was still frowning but she opened up the front door to step out, followed by the red head.
And now they were off to the one place which is always romantic. A place where you could wrap an arm around your significant other's shoulder or hold their hand, or have your hands accidentally touch and feel the electricity course through your veins. A place where you could even find your mate and have your inner wolf scream 'MATE' in extra bold and capital letters.
Yes, you guessed right.
Ola and Freda were off to the movies.
"I feel like you're going to take me to watch a romantic movie." Ola frowned as she rubbed her left ear as they had walked over to the staircase together.
Freda suddenly let out a laugh as she nodded her head. "How'd you know?"
Ola's frown remained as she made a mental note to get her ears checked before she would start hearing controversial premonitions.
Oh, this woman.
