Ola and Freda had talked about everything and anything on their little dinner date or should I write 'diner' date. HeheHehe. They had shared about their lives with one another, as if they already hadn't known about each other.
Freda told Ola about her family in Germany and how she had her brother living in the city, but they didn't really meet up with each other since he had two daughters and was mostly busy with everything going on in his life already.
Ola had talked about her younger years when she used to cover her head since she disliked the idea of anyone looking at her unruly long hair. Plus, there was also a time when Ola used to have lice in hair, and it was easier to just cover her head than to have people know she had lice.
Freda had laughed so hard at that reasoning that the blonde waitress had come back out from the back of the diner probably thinking that someone was getting murdered or something.
They had also enjoyed the Mustard Blast more than they had liked to admit, which was odd for Ola since she disliked mustard with her life. "Okay there, that woman by the bus stop." Freda spoke up excitedly as she subtly pointed over to the woman by the bus stop. Yes.
Ola frowned as she paid close attention to the woman's jacket and how it was most definitely a light pink. "Okay." Freda cheered as she clung to the brunette's arm with a happy expression on her face.
The two women had decided to walk all the way back to their apartment building since both of them didn't want the night to end so quickly. But the silence wasn't something they had appreciated. They wanted to have conversations with one another but seeing how Ola rarely did anything social, she was bad at making small talk, so Freda took the reins.
This was how they had found themselves playing a game involving colors and jackets. Being in a long-sleeved sweater and only jeans, Freda had thought of a jacket game.
How are you not picking up on what she wants?!
Ola frowned as she felt the red head snuggle more into her side as she hummed in concentration. "Okay, blue." As if completely forgetting what Ola had heard before, she began to find a blue jacket amongst the crowd of people strolling around in front of the people.
As far as they had played this weird game, Freda had been the victor since she had telescopic vision in finding jackets.
Just give her your damn jacket!
Ola had found a person wearing a blue overcoat, but she couldn't point to the person since she had been yelled at by an imaginary voice, only she could hear. "Did you see someone?" Freda asked up innocently as Ola began to frown and then tap her right ear as if that was going to make anything better.
"N-No." Freda frowned as she separated herself from the other woman's arm, enough to look at her face. But that didn't last for long as a cold gust of wind came passing through them.
The red-headed woman shivered as she clung herself impossibly closer to the woman beside her.
Come on, she's cold. You're literally wearing an inner underneath apart from your shirt. Plus giving your jacket to your significant other is romantic.
"But I'm cold." Freda frowned as the two had finally halted in their trek back home. "What?"
"I wasn't talking to you." Ola smiled apologetically even though she was aware how odd she sounded at the moment. Freda had even looked weirded out since they were the only ones together and there was no one else walking beside Ola.
You're a cold-hearted bitch, that's what you are.
"Okay, we're going shopping." Ola spoke up suddenly, getting a surprised look from her red-headed companion. The brunette had only scanned the place they were at before she found a clothing store right across from them. Holding onto Freda's arm, Ola made sure to speed-walk right over to the store.
Freda wasn't even sure what was happening anymore as she let the other woman drag her across the road to a store which looked like it could have actual fashion models instead of mannequins.
They had only stepped inside of the store when they had an employee come up to them with a wide shining smile. "Welcome! How may I help you?" It was the second employee in the same night who had caused Ola annoyance, but this time the woman had managed to keep it within herself. She didn't want a repeat of what had happened at the diner.
"We need a jacket." Ola had spoken up and Freda finally understood what was going on as a small smile of excitement came onto her face. "Are you buying me a jacket?"
Ola's eyebrows had knitted together as she looked at her red-headed companion. "What? No. You're buying me a jacket."
Freda was confused as she frowned. I was confused too, in all honesty.
"Uh – what?"
"So, I can give my jacket to you." Ola explained further, which did nothing to ease up the confusion she had spread all around. Even the employee looked confused before he cleared his throat and spoke up. "We have our jackets right over there at the back." He had pointed over to the place as well, for more emphasis, before he gave the two women another prepared smile. "If you need any help, just call me." And then he was leaving them to sort out whatever they had, because clearly Ola and Freda were not on the same page.
Neither was I.
"Why do you want to give me your jacket?" Freda and Ola had continued on with their odd conversation as they were left alone.
"Because you're cold." Ola pointed out as she grabbed a hold of her hand since Freda had separated herself from the woman again just to confront her. The brunette dragged the red-headed woman to the aisle where the employee had said the jackets were at.
Freda's confusion only rose more as she narrowed her eyes. "Shouldn't I be buying myself a jacket then?" Ola instantly shook her head. "It won't be the same."
There were so many questions swirling in Freda's head as she watched the other woman pick through a number of overcoats and jackets, while she just stood in her place.
If Ola hadn't been so adorable to Freda, she was sure that she would've run out of the store claiming that the other woman was somehow crazy. But no, Freda just stood there with a small, confused smile playing on her lips, as Ola quickly browsed through the clothing pieces.
It hadn't taken Ola long, as she stood with a satisfied smile, holding a black jean jacket in her hands. "I want this one." Freda could only smile as she was once again dragged over to the checkout counter with the other woman.
The employee who had greeted them, was stood there as well, talking up with the man behind the check-out counter. "We want this one, please."
Freda could do nothing but nod as Ola placed the jacket onto the counter before looking at the redheaded woman expectantly. The woman had rolled her eyes with a smile before she took out her wallet from the back pocket of her jeans. She had paid for the jacket easily with her credit card, not even thinking twice about it.
The jacket hadn't been as expensive as one would imagine seeing the store, and it was of good quality as well which was another surprise. But Freda couldn't really keep her attention on the price or the store for long because she had watched her companion take off her short over-coat carefully.
Freda didn't really understand Ola but as the woman had held her own coat open for the redhead; she was sure that she didn't need to understand the brunette. Her heart felt warmer than her body the moment she had gladly worn the overcoat that the other woman had been donning.
"Thank you for purchasing at Trendies!" Ola nodded her head at the employee behind the checkout counter as she put on her new jacket which wasn't as warm as her overcoat, but she would be fine anyway.
Freda had smiled widely at Ola which was warming enough for the brunette, as she saw the bright light and flowers blooming in the background. It was cold outside but here they were in the store, feeling like spring.
Ola was the one who had offered her arm for the other woman coolly and Freda had gladly held onto it with the smile that was going to be on her face for the rest of the night and even till the morning.
"You're so unusual." Freda commented as she snuggled into the other woman, holding tightly onto the woman's arm. The two exited the store and came out into the cold night again, but this time Freda didn't feel like curling her body into herself.
Ola snorted as a response.
Hm, I think I'll have to reassess what it means to be romantic for different people.
Ola's face held a smirk as she heard the apologetic tone of the imaginary voice drift into her ears. She was satisfied with the outcome of her night with Freda who had also loved spending time with the other woman.
The warmth that both of the women felt in their bodies wasn't because of the jackets they were wearing though. It was surely because of some weird ass feeling that inflicted many people in the world.
"I think that mustard blast is giving me mild heart burn." Ola frowned to herself as she heard Freda let out a loud laugh paired with a two-word response. "Me too!"
Not what I was referencing to, but okay. Whatever floats their boat, I guess.
