tied up, kai woke up to the sound of an explosion. he jumped up and nearly broke the metal that was holding him down in his seat which alerted the league that he was awake. they all turned their heads to him with slightly wide eyes. "uh, hey guys" he said nervously. he thought that he had died. the last thing he remembered was the light blue surrounding him to the point it was nearly blinding. 

before the league could say anything, bakugou sent another explosion into their faces and then into kai's restraints. freeing him. he jumped up beside him and rubbed his wrist. "thanks, mate" he said with his expression nearly perfectly matching bakugou's. "so that the hell are we going to do now?" he muttered, taking a step back.

suddenly, there were two knocks at the door. "hello~ kamino pizza delivery~" the voice called out from behind the door. not even a few seconds later, all might smashed through the wall to their left and another hero bound all of the villains with stiff roots that looked like they were from a tree in place. 

kai had felt so light headed that he thought he was about to pass out. "couldn't you have gotten here sooner...?" he muttered, swaying from side to side. his hearing thinned out and his vision started to get lighter. he looked down and saw his waist bandaged all around and saw a bit of blood leaking out. that's when he remembered he was actually impaled while his battle with moonfish. 

he looked to his side and saw dark liquid spilling from bakugou's mouth. but the liquid never actually touched the ground. bakugou grabbed onto kai's arm tightly in fear and he was teleported along with him. during the travel, bakugou just held on tighter to him and kept his eyes closed tightly. kai left his eyes open and surrounding them was what seemed to be thick ink. it didn't feel like anything, but it was definitely there. 

bakugou kept holding onto kai's arm but stood tall (kinda. he slumps a lot) and opened his eyes fearfully. he coughed out and exclaimed about how terrible the liquid smelled and tasted. "what was that?!" he yelled, wiping his mouth with his right hand. "apologies, bakugou" the villain said kindly. it felt oddly warm even though he knew he wasn't on the right side. 

soon enough, the rest of the villain appeared and some fell onto the ground weak in the knees. 

"you've failed again, tomura" the villain said clearly "but you mustn't loose heart. there will be more chances to set things right" he put his hand out in a stiff claw-ish shape. "that's why i've brought along your little band and the boy because you determined that he is an important pawn" he spoke "so try again. that's what i'm here to help you do" he stepped towards tomura with his had outstretched towards him. "it's all for you" he spoke slowly. 

the atmosphere was so terrifying that he had shivers sent down his spine. suddenly, the villain turned his head. "i know you'd come" he said, suddenly clashing fists with all might. 

"you're going to give it all back, all for one!!" all might yelled through a smile. "here to kill me again, all might?" all for one muttered. 

their strength was almost perfectly matched that it scared kai so much he fell to his knees in fear. all he could say was "oh" and just stared wide eyed in fear. 

"what took you so long?" all for one taunted, holding all might back with ease. their battle created a crater in the ground and powerful wind that crushed rocks. 

"it's about five kilometers from the bar to here. and it took you a whole thirty seconds to arrive after i sent the nomu. you're losing it, all might" he taunted playfully. "so are you. what's with that industrial-looking mask?!" all might said loudly. his smile starting to falter. "are you sure you should be up and about in that state?!" he yelled out. 

"i'm not going to make the same mistake i did five years so, all for one!" he said dramatically. "i'm taking bakugou and kai! this time i'm smashing you into a prison cell. you and your little league of villains!!" he yelled, dashing with his hand outstretched towards all for one in anger. 

"sounds like there's a lot on your to-do list" all for one spoke nonchalantly. "you and me both" he stretched his arm out and a dark spiral surrounded it, shooting towards all might. it was so powerful it smashed him into buildings. 

"all might!!!" bakugou yelled, letting go of kai's arm and lunging towards the direction of the damage. "don't fret. that won't be enough to kill him" he said calmly. 

"you need to flee, tomura. and take the boy with you" he told, stretching his fingertips out to stab into kurogiri's back. "he will help with your escape" he announced. after a few seconds, a large dark portal appeared in front of him and his fingers retracted "now, go" he spoke. "and you, master...?" shigaraki muttered fearfully. "always think ahead, tomura. you still have much room to grow" he said while quickly jumping up into the sky, colliding fists with all might once again. 

"time to go, shigaraki! while the gentleman with the pipe mask is holding all might back!" mr. compress spoke, bringing dabi into a light sphere like kai was once in. "and take your pawn" he added.

"what a pain..." he said through a smile to mask his fear and worry. 

"bakugou, kid!!" all might called out in worry. he turned away and ran towards him. "i'm coming for you!!" "not so fast!!" all for one yelled out, grabbing kai forcefully by the shoulder and bringing him tighter in his grasp. "do you want this child to die?" he asked tauntingly. his hand now formed into a knife pointing into his back. "kai!" all might yelled. "make your choice, all might. who will you save?" he asked.  all might looked back and forth between bakugou and kai. "it's alright, all might! go get bakugou, i'll be fine!!" he yelled. "if you're so sure, young one" he muttered. the blade quickly stabbed into his back exactly where he was hit before and he screamed out in pain before being dropped onto the ground. "kai!!" all might yelled, now immediately changing his mind and running back to him. 

in the back, bakugou had been saved and was being rushed to a safe area. all the while kai was bleeding out on the ground. he had stayed like that for, who knows, minutes. the way he was bleeding he wasn't even sure that he would be able to live very long. turning to his side, he saw all might's shriveled old form that, albeit, appeared like as if it needed desperate help, still had the same burning passion and fury as his hero form did. 

unable to understand the situation, kai stood up with blood on his back and front. he felt like he was dying, which he was. his wings had just fully grown back. he glanced up and saw a camera. "oh no" he thought to himself. "my parents can see me" he thought. tears began to stream down his cheeks. he didn't want his parents to see him dying. 

even thought his whole body was in pain, he sent feathers towards the camera lens and clouded it's vision. he sent feathers towards all for one and broke his mask fully, making it difficult for him to breath. "you want to fight?" he muttered. his breathing slowed by a lot. "you can barely do anything. you are a child. do you not understand? give up" he spoke clearly. "give. up" he spoke in anger. "yeah, no. i've done that. i'm just the distraction" he said happily. his feathers stiffness growing weaker, giving away a little bit of space to allow the camera to see a little bit of the scene. 

by the time, all for one had already been beaten to the ground unconscious. kai fell to the ground as all of his feathers did. 

all might raised his fist weakly and then shot it up with strength, all covered in blood and dirt. he wobbled back and forth, smoke coming from his body.

kai could feel his pulse slow down. his fingers resting on his neck. "so this is how i die" he thought to himself. "that's pretty sad" he thought with tears streaming down his cheeks as his pulse stopped.
