The Candy Coated Villainesses

The World of CCV - The Regina Empire

The World of CCV - The Regina Empire

Aug 16, 2023

There are three distinct continents in the world of Candy Coated Villainesses.

The Westerlands.

The Eastlands.

And The Southers.

We don’t talk about the northern continent as it was destroyed by a deluge and the survivors migrated south towards the Westerlands where they initiated a violent takeover, forcing many of the Westerland natives further south to become slowly integrated with the citizens of what is now known as Lyona.

Though many who have a different view of history will say that they were all extinct but they won’t call it a genocide.

Originally a series of small villages gradually turned into towns and smaller kingdoms that you would think lived in relative peace. However, that peace and era of truces and trust didn’t sit well with the man known as Magnus Conwyn, The First Emperor.

To him, this is what led to the “degradation” of the Westerland Natives that used to live on these grounds. His belief was that they were too scattered to present a proper front and that’s what led to their demise and Magnus felt it was his duty to unite kingdoms that neighbored his own small kingdom known back then as The Regina (Reh-Gee-Nuh) Valley.

To loyal monarchists, his campaign sought to unite these factions through strategic marriages to their most eligible women from each territory.

To everyone else, Magnus’ campaign was bathed in blood as he took each of his mistresses by force. Wanted each of them to bare him a child as proof of their “union” which is a nice way of saying “so they had too much to lose to try and run”,

There was obviously his first wife: Lyssa Conwyn.

Then there was also:

Elza of Blythetown, a singer that Magnus was quickly smitten with. No one knows if she felt the same.

The Madonna of Wyrmborough, Petunia.

Dana Gavell, from the Gavell village tribe that mostly fought the front lines of the Northern refugees’ campaign to rid themselves of the natives.

VaDelle Cleonlord, daughter of a chieftain.

High Priestess Belle from the Boote tribe.

Giselle Goodluck, who was rumored to have been a part of the first group that praised Ferto. The Regina Empire’s prime religion.

And Magenta of the Spelmans, a witch from a forest commune.

This “united front” was only threatened after the death of Magnus and his son took the throne, bestowing each of his half-siblings with noble titles, giving birth to the Royal Nobles that exist to this day and while it was a beginning of turmoil, each family melded into a groove that supported the monarchy.

The Conwyns’ seat of power was mainly the Capital of course.

The Cleons took the reins of ruling over the Church of Ferto with their seat of power being a small town called Ferto Valley. Their current head is the High Priestess of the Church of Ferto, Wendy Cleon.

The Bootes had produced the most Empresses and a couple times Emperors and been given Glint Heights as their seat of power so that the future spouses of Emperors could overlook their future home and what all of the tutoring was going towards. Their current head is Silas Boote and Patience Conwyn, wife of Mathusela Conwyn and mother to Solomon and Selene is also a Boote.

House Blythe’s main family’s former seat of power was Woe-Borough and they ran many of the news outlets that reported on all things pertaining to royal nobles, keeping the dirt out and keeping the praise in. Their current head is Jamison Blythe.

House Gavell was known for their close proximity to the Conwyns. As such, they were given the North Luckstead and Lochlake Valley, the latter formerly belonging to House Spelman. Their current head is Dannie Gavell.

House Spelman…is currently extinct. The punishment for their part against the Conwyns in the Regina Civil War.

House Goodluck had maintained both the North and South Lucksteads but gave up the North as it spread them too thin. Smart on their part. Their current head is River Goodluck.

Finally came House Wyrm. Their former seat of power being Woe-Borough which used to be called Wyrmborough however, they led the charge of the Regina Civil War. Their punishment wasn’t extinction but humiliation. When their lands were salted and given up to the Blythes, they were expelled to a small island with a neighboring shore town which was officially named “The Isle of Wyrms” as an insult. Only for their military efforts to be the strongest of the Empire but no one knows what keeps them on their leash. Their current head is Antolee Wyrm.

But that is not where the Regina Empire ends.

When a country has been properly inducted within the Empire’s range (invaded and properly assimilated), it becomes Regarded.

Such is the case with Poinciana. A small island east of the Regina Empire.

Such is also the case with Melita Isle. An island not too far north of North Luckstead.

It’s showcased as an act of kindness for them to keep their names but add the Regarded part of their names.

Such will be the intended case of the country south of the Regina Empire known as Lyona. A country still reeling from the occupation where many Lyoni folk are encouraged to assimilate into Regina society but are regarded as mere outsiders.

Much like the early stages of the occupations of Melita Isle and Poinciana, the Lyoni had to be beaten into submission. Even having a few towns taken hostage and barred from escaping further into Lyona. Making many of the Lyoni found in the Regina Empire more along the lines of POWs with long leashes than refugees or immigrants.

And maybe the Regina empire extended their hand too far as they tried to encroach on the Eastlands, landing on the shores of Phillistia, taking a small shore town for themselves before they were pushed out. They didn’t know the land and they didn’t know its people and for that, they lost their forces but they swore they’d come back.

The world would be Regarded if it’s the last thing the empire did.

And it might just be.

For World of CCV chapters, I figured it'd be best to have some fun facts about the creation of the world and the societies within.

Fun fact: I can't remember what continent or series of countries I based the shape of The Southers off.

Okay, but the continent of The Westerlands has its shape based on European countries such as the UK, France, Spain, and Portugal because I forgot Portugal was there, I'm sorry Portugal but for me, Portugal is like Angela popping up behind Dwight and scaring him. Also, I think Ireland is in there but I could be wrong.

Additionally, the little islands are played by Cyprus and an island that looked like a fish that I can't seem to find--MALTA!

When it comes to names many people in the Regina Empire have names that echo Puritan and Colonial American names which were meant to put people close to godliness basically such as Patience, Prudence, Modesty, Hosea, Meek, etc.

There are some exceptions such as North Luckstead which invokes French naming like Chopin, Mireille, Sabine, and Jean-Marc.

Evelyn Prior grew up with the story of "Roll End Romance". It shaped her childhood and even in this day and age, it's what she turns to when life gets hectic and depressing. Sure, everything about the show didn't age well but it was something to turn your brain off and enjoy.

What she certainly didn't expect was to be transported into the body of the show's villainess, Elvira Khanna, but Evelyn soon realizes that the world she now inhabits is quite different from the show and, thankfully, it appears she doesn't have to traverse it alone because of someone else who knows she's not Elvira.
