Tell Me Your Story

The First Visitor part 1

The First Visitor part 1

Jul 04, 2023

I hated humans. Despite their weak body, their greed knew no bounds and their vicious minds were unfathomable. Their most disgusting trait… reproduction was so destructive to all other living beings, it was ironic how humans complain about how fast goblins reproduce when from others viewpoint, they weren't that much different.

No matter how much I tried to hide from them, some of them would find me and it didn't matter how good of a person I met, when the word got out greedy humans would come eventually. And I had to run again, the vicious cycle continued…

!!!

I jumped up. Why did I lie on the floor?! My head was hurt a bit, did I get ambushed? And where was I? I kept looking around but saw nothing but black space and… What was the being in front of me? He was sitting at a desk and looking at me. Just from its appearance I would say it's definitely human. Still, there was no way a human could make this type of dimension space. No, not just humans. With all my knowledge only a few beings could do this. Which god or deity is this?

I had no memory about how I got here. I only remembered I had been running around the Great Forest like usual before I found a somewhat decent cave to rest inside.

"Welcome visitor. You can rest easy, there's no danger here. Please look at the signboard and talk to me if you have any questions."

It talked to me! How should I respond? I couldn't speak in human language. Somehow even though it had the unknown letters, I could understand what was written on the signboard. This was really weird.

'Why was my mind so clear in this weird situation?'

—

I looked at the beast standing in front of my desk. It looked like a dog or to be specific it was called Husky, I think. But there were some features you would not see in a dog like a pair of golden horns on its head pointing forward or a thick lizard-like tail covered in scales. Its fur was silver with a glimmer of light blue and they looked really soft. I had to control myself from jumping in and hugging this big guy.

Its eyes were dashing around before locking onto the signboard. At least it had intellectual capabilities to read, right?

'Let's wait for a bit'

*woof*

'This is bad'

I thought to myself not just because this dog is so cute I can barely hold back but I believed it finished reading the signboard and tried to talk to me, but nothing got through. Could you help us, Room?

After I got an affirmative response from Room, I tried talking to the dog again. I hoped Room can handle all of the translation for us.

"I knew you could understand me, but I don't know your language. For that, I apologize but can you try talking again?"

'No need to apologize, sir. I'm just a Thunder wolf who got into your dwelling. It should be me who apologizes for the intrusion.'

I got the response! The female voice rang inside my head when the wolf made a noise. Good job Room!

"Great! Then let's move to the matter at hand. You already read the rules, right? Do you have any questions?"

*woof*

'It got through! How?! Umm.. sorry, I got a bit excited but can I believe that everything written there is true?! You could grant me a wish! Which god or deity are you?'

God? Deity? So this world had those kinds of beings. Maybe White is one of them. Was this information common knowledge here? I felt like I can't have casual conversations with native here until I learn everything.

"Don't have to be so formal. We're on equal terms here, so relax. I'll answer your question now. First, everything on the board is true. Second, it's a reward not a wish. There's a list of things you can ask for, but you can't ask for anything else. And lastly, I'm not god nor deity. I might work for one but I'm just a humble human."

I didn't know if Room also helped conveying emotion, but I thought I could tell when the dog's expression relaxed.

"Anything else? Take as much time as you need, we aren't in a hurry since there's no concept of time in this space"

*woof*

'It's an honor to meet you, apostle. And thank you for being patient with me, I would like to let all these sink in a bit.'

"Shall we chat to kill time? Since I lived in seclusion, I don't know anything about the outside world."

'Yes, I would be happy to answer any of your questions as long as it's within my knowledge.'

Seeing the wolf sitting straight on the ground with its paw bum on its chest with confidence is quite comical.

Ah, I made a mistake. Before we started, as a gentleman I should serve our visitor some drinks and snacks.

"Would you like coffee or tea?"

'...Sorry?'

"I mean, would you like something to eat or drink? As a host, I should serve something, right?"

'Anything is fine. I'm not picky.'

You heard it, Room. Could you give our visitor something?

Bowls of water and dog food appeared in front of our guest. She jumped in surprise but soon realized they're food we were talking about earlier. It might be unfamiliar to her, but she smelled and tried them anyway. Dogs are the best!

'Sir, your eyes look a little scary. Did I offend you somehow?'

Looked like I couldn't hide all of my feelings and scare our visitor a bit. Calm down me, we can ask for permission later.

"Sorry sorry, there's nothing. I'm just thinking about what is going on outside, how much things must have changed? you know? Hehe"

What a bad excuse, I should change our matter fast.

"Oh yeah, I've been curious for a while now. What are you? Sorry about my ignorance, but I've never seen a beast like you before."

She looked at me suspiciously but started to talk about herself.

When he came to his sense, he already made a contract with that being.

His job was to write the story about anything he met.

What sort of people would he meet? What kind of story would they bring to him?

"So, tell me your story" - He said as his next target walked into the room.

At least, he was nothing but the watcher. No danger would come, right?
