The order was given to accompany the Space Station patrol, and we carried out it without resistance.
"What is happening? What did we do wrong?" I asked.
"That was an unauthorized mission," said the (Major Captain) Golgreen.
Everyone was looked at him.
"EXPLAIN!" said the (Major Captain) Yennir, changing his voice.
"It was (Captain Lieutenant Colonel) Hennmi who gave me the information that you could be alive and in trouble.said
"My father!" said the (Aspirant) Lairilon.
Guinna and I looked at him in surprise.
It was quite a coincidence, although it was common for family members to pursue the same career. Just like Micahilla's parents, who were also researchers, and were hibernating on the second Crommirris mission. And I, who had a father who was a pilot auxiliary remote control drones and my mother who was...
"They did not authorize the mission, no matter how clear the emergency information was, due to its origin. One of the researchers on his team who captured it. (Researcher) Micahilla. She who managed to achieve this feat of capturing the message, even with the weak signal you were sending, but to be sure of what she was receiving, she broke into the system to have access to ongoing missions and to make sure that it was not a mistake," said the (Major Captain) Golgreen.
"No," I said, mentally concerned with Micahilla.
She had recently freed herself from being punished for accessing information for which she was not authorized, and after what she did, it would probably harm her research career completely.
"I see, but is unacceptable that they did not give her credibility." said (Major Captain) Yennir. "We could have died if it weren't for her audacity to come to us."
"Yes my friend. Since I heard about the possibility of you being alive, I didn't hesitate to check it out, but that caused problems. You can rest assured that I will explain everything. The important thing is that they are saved," said the (Major Captain) Golgreen, looking at (Major Captain) Yennir, and then at his son, the (Aspirant) Justrim.
"I will question the lack of attitude of the superiors. It is not because the source of the information lacked credibility that they could ignore the situation," said the (Major Captain) Yennir.
I was even more concerned about Micahilla. The information came from her. I wanted to find her as soon as possible. Even though our relationship was not well, I could not leave her alone in this situation.
"Maybe I was being selfish about thinking only about my career," I said to myself, looking at the (Major Captain) Golgreen and his son the (Aspirant) Justrim.
He risked his career to go after his son, believing the information they claimed had no credibility. Maybe, I didn't do the same to the point of risking my career but thinking about Micahilla, maybe I would stop following the rules. That's what my heart said, but my reason insisted on wanting to focus only on what I can be and achieve as a pilot.
Micahilla and my career were becoming a constant conflict. After a while, we were already close to our planet. We entered the atmosphere and landed.
Military security, a support group (sergeants) accompanied by two officers, surrounded us as soon as we left the space drone.
"Aspirants accompany officer (Captain Lieutenant) Caiziri. (Major Captain) Golgreen and Yennir accompany me," said the military officer, (Captain Lieutenant Colonel) Rirnortt.
We were divided and went on with the designated officer. He separated us and placed each of us in an interrogation room. Sitting in front of a screen, a virtual officer appeared. It looked like the one who questioned me the last time I went to see Micahilla.
"Graduating space pilot, military officer (Aspirant) Drinihian, when did you become aware of the undisciplinary attitudes of the (Major Captain)?"
I hesitated a few seconds before answering.
"When we were approached by the space patrol."
The virtual officer looked at me and then asked me another question.
"What is your relationship with the military officer (Against Brigadier General) Naihinah?"
Again that question.
"Why were they repeating?" I thought.
Again, it took me a few seconds to respond.
"My mother!"
The virtual officer stared at me looking serious for a while and then closed, turning off the screen.
(Captain Lieutenant) Caiziri removed me from the room.
"It's cleared, but stay tuned for calls. If your presence is requested, do not delay in presenting yourself."
"Released?" I thought, confused.
Strangely, I was released, but I didn't question it.
"Yes, sir!" I said, looking at (Captain Lieutenant) Caiziri, trying to show some confidence.
Thinking of Micahilla, I immediately decided to go to where she was being held. I didn't know if I could help her in any way, but I tried at least talk to her. That officer friend of hers was also not going to be able to help her due to the seriousness of what she had done. I arrived at my accommodation.
"Drinihian, what happened? Everybody is talking about what you guys did," said Kerhnir.
I ignored him and went to do my hygiene to change and go to Micahilla’s. I took a stimulant because I was exhausted.
"What happened? Aren't you going to talk to me?"
"Not now, Kerhnir. I need to go! Let’s talk later!"
He asked no more questions. I finished and left without saying where I was going.
I took a transport drone and headed straight for where Micahilla was being held. Almost reaching the entrance to the sector where she was, to my surprise, I saw her. At the same time that I was happy to see her, the smile left me, due to the scene I saw. She was with her friend (First Lieutenant) Dornnih, holding hands.
She turned and looked in my direction. I took advantage of the movement of the various soldiers who were passing by at the time, turned away from her eyes, and hid. From a distance, I saw that she had let go of his hand and kept looking for something with her eyes, but soon afterward she took his hand again and left on a transport drone with him.
"Why?" I wondered, but it was obvious that she was following her own way.
She should have realized that I was no longer willing to invest in our relationship. It was confusing because I wasn't sure if that was what I wanted. I should let her go, and with that, have more time to pursue my goals.
I tried to be confident with myself, but my heart was broken and I wouldn't let my reason work. For a moment, I thought about going to her, but it would be stupid.
"Stop this! You wanted it that way!" said my reason, to my heart.
I walked aimlessly. I took a transport drone that took me to Flower Square. Arriving, I sat next to the only tree in the garden, which was at the top of a hill. I stayed there for hours admiring the view of the great and modern city.
Thoughtful about my life, which would be going forward without Micahilla, I ended up falling asleep.
