Today is finally the day Sasha and her friends leave for their trip to Miralen. The young girl and Lysandra had barely talked since their little dispute, and Sasha was starting to question if she was in the wrong for going against Lysandra. Had she been acting childish? Anyway, that morning, Sasha chose to wear a beautiful knee-length turquoise dress that the angel bought for her.
They went to the dock early and got on their boat. A few days into the boat ride, Sasha was enjoying the sun and the chilly breeze on the boat deck, looking down at the swirls of water the boat created. The baby dragon, that Sasha named Merlin in honor of the old storyteller in her village, in the human world, was sleeping peacefully in the young girl's bag. Lysandra and Manta were engaging in a very long discussion. They had been talking for more than 2 hours while sitting in a corner, and the crew members were casually doing their chores. Sasha looked back down at the water and saw bubbles rise to the surface.
She frowned, confused. The girl got up on her toes to get closer to the bubbles and saw something swimming up to the surface with great speed. Sasha quickly backed away from the side of the boat and stumbled down. Then, a ginormous whale-looking creature jumped out of the water and took flight in the bright blue sky. Its silver skin shone brightly under the sun. It sang a sweet melody as it floated toward the horizon. Sasha's eyes sparkled in amazement.
"Beautiful, isn't it? said a crew member that approached Sasha while she was staring at the majestic beast. "
"Yes, she agreed."
Everyone on the ship looked up at the sky, admiring the rare spectacle. They all started clapping and cheering.
"Hardly anyone has the chance to witness the first flight of one of those silverish creatures, continued the sailor. They are born in the deepest and darkest part of the ocean. When they reach maturity, they spread their wings and, as they jump out of the water, the sun's rays touch their skin for the first time and make it sparkle."
"Where are they going? Sasha asked naively. "
"Where the sun guides them, the seaman responded with an enigmatic tone."
"Why are they rare?"
"You have a lot of questions, little lady! They are endangered. Cruel merchants kill them for their skin and then they sell them to rich folks. Their extreme beauty will be the reason for their extinction, he sadly responded while walking away."
Night fell quickly and Sasha had to go to bed to have enough fuel for tomorrow. Their arrival in Miralen.
The rough waves made the boat rock from side to side, either making you sick or giving you the impression of being in a cradle, gently being rocked from side to side by your parents lovingly looking down at you. Then the flames engulf the room as she hears screams of agony, people cheering maniacally and the faint cries of a baby. There was a barely audible murmur in the distance. Human...Human...HUMAN!!
Sasha gasped as she woke up with cold sweats. Manta was standing on her chest, angrily staring at her.
"Finally! It took you at least 10 minutes before you finally woke up! The Etomanian scolded."
"Ah, Humm... Why would you wake me up? Sasha asked, confused and still fighting to keep her eyes open."
"Why would you wake me up? Mocked Manta. YOU woke ME up! You were dreaming!"
"Really? I don't remember my dream. But now, would you please get off and let me sleep for a few more hours?"
Sasha fell back asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow and she slept for two more hours before the sun illuminated the room and woke her up for good.
the young girl quickly got up and ran to the deck. She threw herself on the railing and saw Miralen in the distance.
Sasha is a very curious and stubbornly brave (or stupid) 13 years old girl. One day, she couldn't take it anymore. She was craving a new adventure, so she fled her adoptive mother looking for a more action-filled life. Guess what? Well, she found it! But maybe it wasn't exactly what she was expecting. She woke up, after a dramatic fall, in an unfamiliar, fantastic world called Egea where lives some of the most unexpected of creatures. Along the way, she meets a lot of interesting people(?) but also falls face-to-face with a very unfortunate series of events. Will she be able to make it back to her family? or will she find out that she belongs somewhere else...?
