Without a second thought, she turned tail and began to sprint away. She ran towards the mountains that peaked above the plain, her paw pads becoming caked with dried blood. All she could think of as she ran were the bodies of her beloved handlers and the amount of hopelessness she felt when she realized she had failed them both. Her need to get away grew with every step she took, causing her to ignore every other sign of life around her. Deers with fawns and owls with eggs eyed her curiously as she ran, with one buck even attempting to kick her when it deemed her to have gotten too close. But she cared little for what was going on around her, as she only cared about getting away.

Consumed by her thoughts, she failed to see the boulder blocking her path and slammed into it at full force. She yelped in pain as she fell through the snow and into a small cave. Tufts of her fur were ripped off as she hit the edge of the cave's ridges, leaving drops of blood marking her way in. Feeling hopeless, she closed her eyes, expecting to die on impact with the Earth.
