No window, no doors, not a single crack in the wall as far as I could tell. I had woken in this white room minutes or hours before--time seemed to have stalled-- and hadn't heard a sound. If this was a dream, it wasn't like any dream I'd had before. No, this was very real. All at once, the lights flicker, or was that my eyes? And then, purple, blue, red, flashing behind my eyes. It hurts. But it won't stop.

I don't know how long I layed on the white floor in pain, with tears rolling down my face. Time seemed to have stopped completely in this white room.

I have to pee. But I don't see anything in the room to use.

All of a sudden, a blank screen lowers from the ceiling, a woman with blonde hair and green eyes flickers onto the screen. She's in a science jacket and it looks like there's a lab behind her.

"This video is set to play 10 minutes after you've woken, Krish. We've discovered a substance that stops all aging. And we've given it to 30 volunteers, you included. We've sent your ships to 30 different sectors of space, you have the ship you're located in, your food supply ship, and your personal headquarters ship where you'll find clothing, hobbies, and books to learn how to fly your connected ships and navigate your sector. The door will appear in 5 minutes, enjoy your reading." The screen flickers off and goes back into the ceiling.

Time to start my new life, I think to myself as the door finally appears.
