Laura agreed, thanked Collones and went back to work.
“Now, come with me, and if anyone asks, I’m just showing you around, okay?” Collones asked.
“Okay”
“Amazing. Follow me, Miles”.
Collones lead Miles down the hall and into a room that looked simple and old. All the walls were completely taken up by the big bookshelves filled with books of different colours and sizes, that went all the way from the floor to the ceiling, except for one. There was a dark brown desk in the middle of the room that was placed on top of a beautiful round carpet, filled with coloured scribbles of all kinds. When walking in, the desk is right in front of the only wall that isn’t filled with books. Instead, there were two big windows with colourful drawings made of tinted glass on them. The one on the left had a moon at the top, and the one on the right had a sun. Under both the sun and the moon there was a person underneath, that looked like it was holding it up. The people looked like some kind of gods.
Collones told Miles to go sit in one of the chairs at the desk, which he did. Collones herself walked around the room, collected a few books and thereafter went to sit in the chair in front of him.
“Okay, this may take some time so get comfortable,” Collones said. “Do you want details or just the basics?”
“Just a few details would be good”.
“Okay then, let’s start from the beginning.
Once upon a time, there was a god named Sothos and a god named Idos. Sothos was the god of the sun, and Idos was the god of the moon.
Sothos made sure that the day came every morning, and Idos made sure to bring the night. Sothos was also the one who created and took care of the animals that are awake during the day, and Idos was the one who created and took care of the animals that are awake during the night. They both helped each other take care of humans, who, back then, didn’t have any powers at all.
One day, Sothos and Idos fell in love, and their burning love for each other made a small star.
There’s a saying that one day, thousands of years later, the same star will appear when two people who love each other, but can’t stay together, confess their feelings for each other, but not many people believe in it anymore.
Well, back to Sothos and Idos. They fell in love and had multiple children, most of them had more children with the humans, except for two, whose names were Ae’dar and Ceci. Ae’dar and Ceci made their own children by themselves. There are many descriptions of how they did it, the most popular ones being that they made them out of clay, or that they took different parts of different animals and put them together, but no one knows how they did it for sure.
Only one of Ae’dars children decided to do the same as Ae’dar did, and the same goes for one of Cecis children. It continued like that for many hundreds of years, up until one point 700 years ago. Many things had changed, and now there was a king, Sothos and Idos were dead and everyone had powers, but the only two pure-blooded god's left had even stronger powers. Since the king didn’t want anyone to be stronger and more powerful than him, he decided to try and kill the two pure-blooded gods. He only got to kill one of them, since the other one somehow escaped and could no longer be found. Ever since the king wasn’t able to kill the second pure-blooded god, all of the kings after him have tried, but none of them were successful. Today, there’s still nobody who knows where the second god went, but the king is still looking. Does everything make sense?” Collones asked after the story.
“Yeah, it makes sense. There was something about levels too, right? How does that work?” Miles answered.
“Yes, the levels, I completely forgot about that! This part is going to be a bit complicated, so listen well! Before I explain the levels, there’s something you need to know. Everyone has 3 to 4 different powers. Each one of them can take anywhere from a few minutes or hours, up to 4 whole weeks, depending on how much of your energy you’ve used up, and if you use your energy up COMPLETELY, you will probably die. Now, there are three basic powers; Being able to speed up and slow down time, summoning things, and throw magic balls, like ones made out of fire. When slowing down or speeding up time, it only has an effect on yourself, and the things and people you touch. You can summon most things, except for people and magical artefacts like maps, magical rocks and magic accelerators, that make your powers stronger for a period of time.
Everyone also has one unique power, and when we talk about the levels without any context, we’re usually talking about our unique powers, but we also calculate the levels of our basic powers, just in a different way. When talking about basic powers in levels. Level 1 is weak, level 2 is a bit weaker than normal, level 3 is normal, level 4 is strong, and if your basic power is a level 5, it is considered your unique power. The only basic power where you can get a level 5 is the one with the magic balls. When the magic balls are your unique power, you can make the explosion bigger, and stronger, and you can also make the magic balls out of more things than you would be able to if it was your basic power, like blood, shadows, lightning and things like that, while normal people only can make them out of fire, air or wind, water and earth, You can also call it soil or mud, but it doesn’t matter, it’s the same. The normal size of a magic ball is about a little bit bigger than your fist. People, whose unique power is the magic balls, only have 3 powers in total, while others have 4.
Well, onto the unique powers! There are five levels. A level 1 power is the weakest kind of power, and a level 5 power is the strongest. Level 1, as I just said before, is classed as the weakest powers. There are not many people whose unique power is a level one, so it’s quite rare. Level 2 is average, level 3 is strong. Most people with level 3 powers are guards and things like that. Level 4 powers are the powers that the kings, queens and other biological members of the royal families are, and lastly, Level 5! Those, whose power is a level 5 are considered gods. Like, directly connected to Sothos and Idos, as in, none of their ancestors have had kids with humans. Sadly, as I said before, there are none left. One of them was killed and the other one disappeared,” finally, Collones was done explaining everything she had to explain at that moment.
Miles was visibly kind of confused, but he somewhat understood.
After the whole history lesson, Miles and Collones chatted while Collones was showing Miles around the house.
