Lifting her nose up, she followed the scent, fully ignoring the fact that she was walking away from the direction of her apartment.
Who and what smells so...so...good. She never witnessed this smell in her life, and her body cursed her for denying it in the first place.
Just as intense as her wolf’s side, she followed this trail with high diligence. Her curiosity possessed her better judgment.
This aromatic smell led her to the beach this time. Nobody was around at this time of night; she was alone with the sea waves lapping at the rocky sand-filled shore. Her heart sank to her stomach, finding that the scent ended here but no one was there.
At least, that is what she thought. She heard footsteps behind her, and her body sprung to move to face this person with fist raised above her chest. Ready to fight.
“Oie miss. It’s alright! I’m not gonna hurt you.” A man spoke out, raising the flashlight he had over her eyes to blind her.
She backed away from him more, blinking her vision back until it could finally absorb the beauty that stood before her.
This man is no less than six one in height, with skin glossy white and freckling along his high cheekbones down his neck. Almost white, blond hair long that reached to his ears, strong angular scruffy jawline, soulful deep dark eyes that are almost purple and tasteful lips that long rest in a smile.
Her eyes followed down to notice the odd spotty silver pelt he wore like a coat, hiding the broad shoulders and many more of him that she’d die if she was graced to see. He was literally a being that was angelic in features. She felt so wrong to thirst him in the first place.
“I-I...” She swallowed down her odd symptoms, enough to start her interrogation. Now more angry than naught, no one has ever gained the upper hand to sneak up on her. Her fists stood where they were, glaring at him. “Explain yourself!?“′
“Easy!” The male lifts his free hand up to show he meant no harm, keeping the flashlight on her. “I really mean no harm...I promise.”
His voice is deep, even kept leveled to attempt to sooth her. It only succeeded in making her drop her fists to her sides. Her gaze still bore into him for answers.
“I had just returned from my trip when I saw you wandering about with no flashlight. I was worried that a magnificent lady such as yourself would surely gather the wrong attention.” Her ears burned from the comment. He must have noticed, because his smile only grew. “and I wanted to offer you my flashlight.”
She glanced at the flashlight he was holding, now noticing that he was trying to offer it to her. Although she had no use for a device like this, she had to act like she did. It is weird enough to walk around without one at this hour of night.
The last thing she wants is for him to expect anything. Her hand reached for it, grazing his hand in the process. Her stubborn side hated how smooth his skin felt and retracted with the flashlight quickly. Her cheeks burned with her ears, what is this enchantment?
His face looked just like a puppy awaiting to be acknowledged and praised for his good deeds. She nearly choked at the display, now guilty that she didn’t say thank you fast enough. “S-sure. Thank you.”
“Happy to help!” He beamed with all his porcelain white teeth showing. Then his expression changed, one with playfulness that she couldn’t match. “Listen. If you ever need help or even just need a little company. Here’s my tele.“′
He rummaged through his pockets underneath his coat, then offered her a small business card. After looking at it from where she stood, she noticed that it was rectangular in black with a light blue font. Her eyes traveled up to his exposed forearms to realize that he sported markings.
Are those tattoos? She shook the trance away, feigning to accept the offer even though the next thing in her mind was to trash it as soon as possible.
This man came out of nowhere like a creep that he was ironically warning her about. She is shocked that he had the gall to even approach her like this under these circumstances, but the easiest thing she can do is to pretend complacency. At least, he smelled good. “Sure...”
“Great! I hope to spend some time with you in the future, strong miss.” He winked at her, then sauntered away with the confidence that he stole from her.
She watched him saunter off a little too long, shaking the spell away.
“What the hell-?” Her rage returned as soon as he vanished around the corner, and that sweet smell no longer blindsided her. She tossed the flashlight to the sandy ground, gritting her teeth when it didn’t break.
Her next victim was his business card but, she stopped herself. In bold lettering, she read the name of this annoying, confident beauty. The shock literally bridled her, her rage evolving into confusion. The letters spelled out ‘Leasdich Brennan’ above a seven-digit number that must be his telephone number.
Her soul nearly left her body, her wolf stirred in delight of a hunt finally over. After all these years, she finally got to meet the man that she listened to diligently on the days she could. The man that soothed the town. That soothed her rancid old soul.
This overly confident champ feels so different than the person she’d listen to. She didn’t know how to process it all, shambling back to her three-story apartment in a daze, taking the flashlight with her.
