Nightfall may come soon 

And this moment in time might perish at the sight of the moon 

My breath hitched and my tears came anew 

This will be the second time I'll lose him; fate I cannot undo

I stared at him through the blur of my tears 

For his smile was something I'd like to remember through all the years 

His kind heart is something I'd like to keep with me forever 

And this love is something he and I shall hold together

The moon rose, and so did all the stars 

With them, fireflies appeared and flew toward him 

"Ah," he smiled, "Seems like you pushed the gods again with this love of ours" 

He stood and faced me, hand reached out to me like once upon a dream

"My love," he said, "will you hold me one last time?" 

I jumped to him; a miracle, I held him as I would in a lifetime 

I burned into my memory his smell and the way he feels in my arms 

I cried and cried and cried on his shoulders wishing the gods would give in to my charms

"My love," he whispered in my ear 

"Let this be the last time you would cry for me" 

He held my face, wiped my tears, and looked into my eyes dear 

"Each time you think of me, I hope that you smile and be set free"

I clutched onto him as much as I could; he smiled 

Fireflies swarm him as he kissed my forehead; all my grief relieved 

Tears escaping his eyes and falling onto mine no matter how hard he tried 

"I love you. Please remember that for as long as your soul shall live."
