A wave of heat distorts the view of Phoenix's busy streets. The sidewalks stay bare at this time of day, lest citizens be subject to the high noon sun's melting rays and join the concrete as a puddle. Out of a classy, pink car from the 60s, an elderly woman with an oversized, brimmed hat hobbles out with a cane. Her purse of the same magenta color, also oversized, catches the shifty eyes of a hockey mask wearing man in the alley between stores. In a swift and spastic motion, the man rushes out and swipes it from the asian elder's hands. "AYA!! HELP!! That man stole my-"
Before the woman could even finish her cry for help, Lil' Miss Steel had already punched down the purse snatcher. Upon hitting the sidewalk, the hockey mask broke, and a dozen stacks of fifty dollar bills scattered from the large purse. Vee quickly got to work returning them inside. *Bark!* The small sound of a chihuahua turned her head. It bit her metal finger and latched on. "Don't recommend that," she said, "Might break a tooth."
At last the final fifty was picked up before a light breeze began to blow. Vee pondered it in her hand for longer than a second, then stood with the purse. "Here's your purse, ma'am," said Lil' Miss Steel with a smile. The elder smiled back as she pet her dog. "Oh, thank you so much! My poor Edward was so frightened! How may I-" When she turned back, the local hero was already gone. *Bark!* "You're right, Edward, that dumdum was foolish for taking my purse."

A visible haze of heat filled Knight Vision's old base. The entire room reeked like a locker room after a big game, and the bandmates were the overheated players. Little Cutie laid curled up by a fan to cool off and perked up her head at the sound of the thick metal door opening. "I'm back," says Vee doused in sweat, "Stopped a purse robbery, again." Rolling back from the computer desk in his chair, Lajon crosses his sweaty arms with a smirk. "So my newly updated crime tracker's working?" Vee snatches off her mask and tosses it in an open crate. "Yep. You're the computer wiz." "It wasn't that hard," he says, "Just had to update the system map. Thing was twenty years old."
Now beside Lajon, Vee hip-bumps him to make room in his chair for her and says, "I'm just shocked it works at all. Any luck on the AC?" Behind them sits Chester on the floor, elbow deep into a bulky air condition unit. "Uh, nooo. Just because I work on the Murder Machine, doesn't mean I know how to fix everything. I'm roasting in here! Can we just hire someone to fix it for us!?" Amy stops playing her keytar on the sofa to say, "Hiring a repairman requires money, which none of us have, so unless you want to get a job..." Chester reacts with an instinctive fear, cowering behind the AC unit at the word "job." Amy finishes. "...You will have to figure out how to fix it."
Reaching into her shorts, Vee pulls out a damp fifty dollar bill. "Actually, we can call that repairman." Like buzzards surrounding a dead animal, the teens are drawn to the money. "Wicked! Where'd ya get that!?" asks Chester, snatching it quickly. Vee pulls it back from his grasp. "An old hag gave it to me for being a robber stopper." Amy gazes at the money with starry eyes and asks, "She really just gave you $50?" "Uh, yeah," says Vee with a hint of nervousness, "Of course. I deserve it."
*BEEP! BEEP!* The blaring sound from the computer forces Lajon to scoot the chair out from Vee. She nearly falls while he says, "Looks like we're not the only ones desperate for money. Bank robbery, west side of Tempe." Reaching for her mask, Vee raises a brow and asks, "Isn't that out of running distance?" Once more Lajon smirks. "Not anymore. I checked out the teletunnel software. Turns out there's several exit spots all over Phoenix and the surrounding cities!" With a pull of a red lever, the circular tunnel beside the PC lights up in an array of colors. The windforce actually cools down the teens. Standing too close in a trance, Chester is almost pulled in before Vee catches and tosses him on the couch. "You're the man, Lajon," she says with a wink.
