I based this chapter off of the scene where a female lead is picked up by a magician ML without her consent in "I am the Real One."It creeped me out, honestly. It's interesting how much male characters can get away with compared to female characters in this genre. Especially if they're male leads.
Sometimes it is appropriate to sock someone, like when they’re trying to move you to a secondary location. Good hit, Iseul.
And yeah, the casual kidnapping by MLs is seriously unhinged. So much violence and disturbed behavior gets romanticized. I think in general there’s a lot of body autonomy violations by lead characters, though male characters tend to be allowed more extreme examples of it than female characters.
I’ve read some of “I am the Real One” and there are some bits I like, but definitely one where mistreating maids is endorsed and I feel frequently falls into the power fantasy of abusiveness and coerciveness justified as ‘necessary’ to overcome the foe.
Anyone who raises their hand to a maid will feel Bridgette's wrath!
Bridgette is a young woman who has been Isekai'd 10 times as a maid, and she has had enough of Otome protagonists abusing their power, slapping maids, and using them as pawns to do their dirty work.
Her solution? Form a union, protect her coworkers, and bring the worst house down! The only people who should be "put in their place" are those who raise their hands to their employees!
