In <When boy meets girl>, there is a character that always make things difficult for Mika. Either in relationship, in workplace or in daily life. He is Glenn Romaldi. He is the grandson of President of Noble Corp little brother. In the order of succession, he is far from able to succeed but because of his engagement to Myra Romaldi, his influence expand exponentially.
Yes, Glenn is my fiancee.
One that is with a very commonly villainous trait and disgusting fetish. Remembering the days where I have no free will to control this body and follow the plot, were the days that I dreaded the most especially ones that involved Glenn.
I heard few vibrations from under the desk that has been coming off since this morning. A number that I repeatedly blocked but somehow unblocked when a scene happened. At the end, it was a waste of time and emotions that I just left it unblocked.
As the professor ends it's lecture, I collected my notes and tablet, stuffed them into my shoulder bag. I pulled out my phone, and I saw a series of notification chat and missed calls from Glenn, missed calls from Lily and a notification chat from someone I did not expect at all.
Once again, my phone lights lit off. Lily's name shown on the screen.
"Lily!" I answered joyfully.
"Hey... in class?" she asked.
I let out a small laugh. "Just finish. Um..."
I stopped mid sentence when I was blocked from exiting out from chair column. A male student with a pleading eyes. Without giving a second chance, I withdrew and intend to exit form another end of column but it was also guarded by another male student.
"Lily... I call you later," I told her bitterly.
"Oh okay. No worries. I was just want to check up on you. Call me when you're free."
I slipped my phone into my shoulder bag while I faced the male student that blocked my way earlier.
"Give me 3 reasons of why I should join your club, senior?" I spoke nonchalantly, sitting on top of the desk and removing my shoes.
That senior watched me with growing suspicion. A bewildered smirk bloomed on his face. "You don't have to go that far."
"Oh, I will. I've been saying to you since many months ago. I'm not interested to be part of your socializing group. I'd rather go with odd ball group than yours." I stood on top of the desk.
"Hey!" he yelled. Clearly pissed with my remarks.
I descended from one table to another, not caring of people looking at me. Once I reached the lower level of the auditorium, I waved goodbye at my seniors who stood at there speechless. Then, I make a run for myself like my life depended on it.
It is disgusting enough that I got engaged to Glenn, you want me to be in a club he previously participated in? Nope, thank you.
As I ran down the hallway, my feet abruptly stopped at the entrance. A man stood outside of the building with a paper bag on his right hand. He wore a shades with a clean cut suits. From afar, he looked handsome and business-like that a few girls gave him a passing look.
I approached the man. "Uncle Lucas?"
He swiveled behind and took off his shades. A youthful smile blossom on his face though you could clearly see his age slowly crept on the side of his eyes. But it does not stop people to admire his handsomeness.
Lucas Morgan is my uncle that I never knew about. He suddenly showed up a few months ago at Millain Award after party. At first, I didn't know he was but looking at how Glenn glared at him, I started to like the man. An enemy of an enemy is a friend of mine or so they say.
"Thank god I could catch you today! I was scared that you didn't read my text," he said and gave me a brief hug.
I reciprocated it though it felt awkward. Maybe he is a social butterfly, he seemed very friendly even on our second meeting. But as far as I remember, Lucas Morgan was not this friendly to people he just met.
"Shall we?" he asked.
I nodded. It was shocking knowing the first time that he is my uncle. Grandpa Brandy youngest son that was said had cut ties with Romaldi family and actually the CEO of Loft Entertainment where Wren signed with since he was young. Since then, I realized the connection between <When boy meets girl> and Wren's <Reaching The Star Above>.
* * * * *
"I'm sorry that it took me sometime to reach you," Lucas said as he served me a cup of ice mocha frappucino and mango smoothies for himself.
I thanked him for buying my drinks and I slurped it cheerily. "It's okay. I just surprised that you're actually wanted to meet me."
Lucas laughed guiltily. "How was your life so far? Is Glenn treating you right?"
At that question, I choked on my drink and coughed.
"Guess you don't like him to some point," Lucas guessed and hand me a tissue.
I wiped my mouth. "So much."
He nodded understanding my sentiment. "I hope there's something I could help you with," he said truthfully.
Hearing that made my heart felt at ease. Still, I wonder if his genuine attitude is simply out of concern or with ulterior motive? After what had happen between me and Sammy and between me and Mika, I can't stop myself thinking that people approaching me are mostly with hidden agenda.
it's either good or bad.
Being a supportive character means that I have a much more free time to my own will compared when I am a main character but that does not mean I am free from many hidden plot. Just like what happen last month with Mika.
"I assume you like movies considering you own an investment company majoring in movie production. The last time we met, we barely talk with each other with Glenn and everything."
I nodded. My hand was busy swirling the straw, mixing whipped cream with mocha ice blended. "I really like movies. Especially one that involves my favourite actors and actresses."
"It was a real surprise to know that you invest in Wren's recent movie too. If your father hadn't told me about your involvement, I wouldn't be there that night," Lucas confessed. "That is the one thing I'm grateful to your father."
I chuckled at that revelation. Lucas Morgan has never been part of <When boy meets girl>, so his involvement in this family affair was close to a zero knowledge for me. Somehow a fresh breath of air.
"So you're one of my father's minion?"
Lucas laughed out loud at that term. "Gosh, well... roughly I guess. Last I talked to him before I met you at Millain Award was what... 13 years ago?"
I could feel my cheeks flushed red. "Sorry," I apologized at my blunder.
Lucas waved his hand dismissing my apology. I could hear his pearl of laughter. "It's okay to be wary. There's always something to distrust in that family. One of the reasons why I decide to cut off my family ties."
I really want to burrow myself in any of those soft cushion in the far corner of this cafe. Even when I had possessed so many characters and too many personalities, I just can't pick up those smart at deducing characteristics as my own.
Truth to be told, it's only a few times that I possessed a character in mystery drama settings. Those kind of dreams don't come often. Probably my choice of reading too. Many of my dreams often are those that I have read.
"So, what does Wren do these days?" I asked to make things more light. Maybe out of personal interest too.
Lucas put his mango shake cup on the table. After having a hearty laugh, his throat felt dry. "Wren? He's busy filming Eugene part 4. Why? Are you one of his fan?"
At that I did not ashamed to admit. "Was it obvious? He's popular to be good at picking a good script."
Lucas nodded in agreement. His face full of proud at his actor's wizardness hands. "Well, I heard you too good at picking project to invest."
After reading so many novels and comics and even experiencing so many cycles of dream, it would be a lie I don't know what kind of project is good or not. "I have a good babu filtering what needed to be filtered."
Looking at Lucas questioning gaze, I gave him a playfull smile. My resentful babu. After that night with Mika, I gave Sammy an ultimatum. Either to work with my father or me. That man dared to take 3 whole working days to process my request!
He was the one who found <Heart Rescuer> as one of the good projects to invest in. At first I was scared to blatantly interfered with another story when Sammy asked what kind of project that I want to make as my debut project to invest, but seeing that title appear in front of me, I thought it was destined for me to invest after so many consideration.
To this moment, I still scared of causality that might impose on me but seeing nothing happen until now... I could let go of my nerve a little. Yet, <Heart Rescuer> was never meant to win so many award that night. As far as I remember form the novel, only Wren was suppose to bring back home a trophy.
"It's good to know you have someone on your side, Myra." Lucas voice disrupted my nerve war.
I should braced myself for what to come in the future. "I'm glad too."
After that I talked about many things with Lucas. Mostly about his relationship because I already know his struggle to make things work with Wren's auntie based on <Reaching The Star Above> that I remember.
"Ah!" I exclaimed suddenly remembering something. Somehow our eating place has changed from sophisticated cafe to a nook tacky snack shop somewhere in downtown.
"Uncle Lucas, is it true your part of... what was it again? Rent club?"
Lucas looked at me bewildered. "How did you know?"
I swallowed my saliva. The after taste of spiciness linger on my tongue. "What kind of rent do they do? I mean, they're not actually some kind of cult club right?"
The middle age man slapped his forehead when hearing my question. There's a look of regret carved on his face. "Those kids still do unnecessary recruit method. After so many years..."
He gave me a look. "Why? You're interested?"
My mind flashed back to when clubs festival was held early spring. They handed me a pamphlet and said something along this line, "lent anything and get rewarded. This is the time to make yourself beneficial to the community. Reach enlightenment by lending anything. Do you want to join?!"
Lucas closed his eyes while massaging his head. "Those fools. Just so you know, once you're in, you're forever in. This club has very few members because the way they promote but it has generational members since I can't remember when. I'm not active because my face constantly on newspaper."
"So, it's really a cult?" I asked innocently.
"Shh..." Lucas looked around. "It's not. It's..."
"It's?"
I placed my ears near Lucas. My eyes went round with disbelieve hearing his answer. "You can establish that kind of club in uni?"
"Because it has a general mission statement and received no complaint. It also has gave a lot of money for students who searched for pocket money. I got involved because of that since I cut tie from my family at that age. Myra, don't even think of joining. You already has a lot of money," Lucas said and continued eating.
Despite what Lucas said, my interest is piqued. As long as I don't involve with any important characters or plot, it could be fun to join.
