I just used magic, right?
“YOU! YOU! SINCE WHEN CAN YOU USE MAGIC?” Jack groaned.
"Uhhh, since now?"
This doesn’t make sense. I tested myself for magic and mana abilities and I’m positive that Kai doesn’t have any. He doesn’t even have an affinity for anything. So how come I can suddenly use magic? The other thing that’s baffling me is the title of the spell, “Draft Skill?” Through my Encyclopaedia of Fantasy and Magic Novels, such a term does not exist. Is this a unique plot point?
Blinded by my confusion, Jack got himself on his feet and once again, lunged straight at me.
Almost immediately, new words came into my head;
“Open Book: Salamander's Wrath: Draft Skill- Sightless Flames”
Upon my words, Jack froze on the spot. His expression grew more grim by the passing second until finally:
“eUGH AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! IT BURNS! IT BURNS! AHHHHHHHHHhhh, make it stop…. stop it.” He continued to glare at me. His glare had started to look more like a desperate rescue glare instead. “please… stop…it… no…more…” he groaned with agony.
I turned around to see Charlotte, looking at me with sorrowful eyes. When she realised that our eyes met, she turned her head away. The red mark on her face looked more purple now. My heart ached again.
The two other boys ran up to Jack, trying to find a way to help him out of his pain. They had light and wind affinity, and both of them used healing attributes. Except their healing was of no use. The spell that I used on Jack surpassed their healing magic. Seeing him in pain brought a sense of joy into my heart. You reap what you sow.
“You want me to make it stop?” I asked.
“P-ple-please… eughhh” his voice sounded like he was in serious pain, but why should I care?
“On one condition-“
“Anything! ACK!” he coughed.
“If I find out that you even touched Charlotte, EVEN ONCE! I will make you go through pain that’ll make death sound peaceful. You got that!”
“Of- of course! I swear- I’ll never touch her! Never! AAAGHHHHH!” He sprawled across the ground almost like he was trying to put out flames.
With the thought of cancelling the spell, new words came to mind;
“Draft Skill- Withdraw.”
“-Cough- -Cough- Hah!” Jack sighed with relief.
I took a step closer to him only to see his entire body flinch. My smallest action made him run miles down the hill.
He feared me! What an achievement!
Once the boys had left, I walked back to Charlotte. I kneeled down to help her up, except she was the same. Her pupils were shaking and her face went completely pale. At first I thought I was the reason behind her fear, however that was not the case.
“You- You- What are you?” She asked with a shaky voice.
“What am I? It’s me Kai!” What an odd question.
“YOU’RE LYING! You’re not Kai!” She exclaimed. Her fear towards me caused her to hyperventilate.
“What are you-“
She lifted her hand and pointed it to something that was behind me. “A Dragon! GASP! Why is there a Dragon behind you?”
A dragon!?
I instantly turned my head around to see the creature she was pointing at- but there was nothing.
“There’s no dragon… why do you keep saying there is?” Nothing was making sense. I reexamined her face and realised a very small detail. In her eyes, there was a reflection of a creature behind me. At one glance, it looked like a dragon but looking closely, it didn’t have wings. A wingless dragon? A- A salamander? That spell I used a few minutes ago, I recall saying salamander something before it. “Salamander’s Wrath?” To use the spell, I uttered the words, 'Open book?’ So if I want to get rid of the creature behind me-
“Close Book : Salamander’s Wrath”
“Gasp!” Charlotte finally started breathing properly. “What was all that? Kai! What is going on? Why was there a dragon behind you? And Fire magic? You can use Fire magic!” As soon as she caught her breath a flood of questions came towards me.
“Calm down. I can’t use fire magic, better yet I can’t use magic at all.” The one that really needed the explanation was me.
“Huh!? But! But!” She wanted answers but so did I.
“Come on, let’s go back to the library. I’ll explain it all there.”
Explain? I don’t know myself.
“Let’s go Nero- Eh?”
Nero was nowhere near by. He must have disappeared somewhere between the fight.
We arrived at the library with no issues and Nero was still nowhere to be found.
As soon as we came back, my head started to ache ridiculously.
“So Kai- when are you going to start- Kai? KAI!” Charlotte looked so worried. Why is she making that expression? Is there something wrong with me? OUCH! My head felt like it was about to explode! My vision started going blurry until everything blacked out.
………
“Master? Master? Are you awake?” Blonde strands of hair brushed across my face and bright blue eyes were staring into my eyes. “eeeEACK! Felix!” His beauty is really bad for my heart.
“I’m sorry Master! I was just making sure you were awake.” He immediately started apologising.
Why do I feel bad even when I’m not in the wrong?
“Forget that! Felix! What happened earlier and why am I here in the Enchanted Library? Didn’t I faint in the Duke’s library instead?”
Felix stood up and straightened his clothes. He cleared his throat and said, “It seems you have awakened Librarian’s Command. To put it simply, the Enchanted Library is home for any and every book out there, which also includes spell books. An additional benefit for the Master is that they have the ability and command over every single one of them.”
“You’re telling me that I can use every single spell book ever created?” This is unreal!
“That is true however there are conditions.”
Right- orthodox system.
“But when these conditions are fulfilled, you will in fact be able to use every single spell book in this vicinity. That is called the Librarian’s Command.”
