"He's just like the prophecy many have come to believe was a myth," Alain said, looking down in admiration of the comatose young man that he and his friends claim as their mate. "Lips red as a rose. His hair like the night. His skin and eyes like copper pennies that glow in the moonlight."
Alain and his other mates and friends (except Dominic and Zechariah since they needed their rest) were currently back at Carson's side in UC Hospital. It had been two whole weeks since they initially visited the comatose omega and they immediately fell in love at the sight and claiming him as their mate. But since they had received the phone call from Fianna and the Four Aces Pack family, they knew that the Moon Goddess herself had blessed them with a special mate- one that was directly born from her lineage and coming from a powerful dynasty.
And they weren't the only ones who were full of excitement. Since yesterday's phone call, word of Carson's true heritage spread like wildfire across the state of Colorado and soon into every supernatural clan all over the world. And everyone had come from near and far to pay their respects to the broken omega that was scorned by the pariah (Regan) yet blessed by the Moon Goddess.
Of course, it didn't stop a few asshole paparazzi to try and sneak pictures of the sleeping Carson in hopes to pain him as the bad guy as directed by the shady newspapers. But every attempt was blocked by the assigned female guards who had strong words- and fists for any intruder.
And in Carson's room lay every stuffed animal, flower arrangement, cards, monetary gifts, even some jewelry collections and gems that would make every human monarch in the world turn green with envy. Hell, some of the visiting dignitaries went as far as even gifting Carson luxury cars and properties.
"I wonder what's on our sleeping mate's mind as we speak?" Nicholas asked aloud as he fixed the bow of a stuffed zebra wearing a top hat. "I can only imagine all of the sufferings that he went through when he was alive and locked away in the basement of Alpha Ciara's mansion."
"I ask the same thing myself," Francisco replied, turning his attention to a decadent bouquet of lilies in a crystal vase gifted by his mother. "I'm surprised that he didn't kill himself, granted the fact that Harvey and Delia made him swear to keep on fighting and holding on to hope for better days."
"True," Alain replied, narrowing his eyes. "But I still can't believe that such a fool like that wolf would reject a young boy like Carson. I mean, many Alphas today would lie, cheat, steal, and even kill to be in our shoes right about now. And his hatred of omegas and plans to commit genocide is a confirmation that we feared all along."
"And that is?" Gavin asked, though he already had an inkling of the answer.
Alain sighed. "Regan is one of those hardcore extremist wolves who want nothing to do with any omegas at all," he replied, making the other gentlemen growl in anger. "He believes that doing away with all omegas of every species would assure the world of dominance and power."
"The fool," Quentin snarled, letting his black wings flutter. "His mindset is what drove Carson to this point. If it weren't for Metatron wanting to keep me by Carson, I would gladly burn him alive in my prisons back in Hell."
"Agreed," Ferdinand growled, letting his eyes glow gold yet keeping himself from shifting into Antoni. "Let's hope that the wolf is smart enough to remain in the dungeons where he belongs. If he dares cross into this room and kills Carson, I'll go for his throat."
"Well, well," Eurydice said as he and his fathers Damian and Gregory Joneslake (both of them large men with the power to burn down an entire forest if need be yet sweet on their son) came into the room with a motherly Black nurse and her blonde assistant following behind them. "It looks like y'all are dead set on keeping Cutie Pie here safe. Daddy, Father. I do believe that you guys met my friends, the Elite Eight."
"Charmed," said Gregory Joneslake (the Hispanic) as he turned his attention to the comatose Carson. "And this must be Carson Hadley, the Moon Wolf blessed by his mother- the Moon Goddess."
"That he is," replied his husband Damian (the dark-skinned man with the dreadlocks) as he joined him by Carson's right. "And he looks so peaceful. It's a crime for such beauty to be treated like garbage. He has our support and the Winged Victory Community vow to protect him with our lives."
"So be it," the six mates said formally.
"Father, I think that it's best to hire more security to keep watch over this hospital," Eurydice noted. "And I'll have some more flowers sent to this place as well. This room needs more color, though it already has enough flowers for a garden show."
"It shall be done," Damian promised his son. "And I will personally make sure that a new Lexus arrives for Carson first thing in the morning."
"Ha!" Gabriella, one of the female guards who were guarding the door outside, replied. "As you can top my gift of a Cadillac sedan- and in a shade of red, no less!"
Everyone laughed, the room starting to feel less tense.
"All right now," the motherly and plum nurse said, clapping her hands. "Y'all need to let me check on this little boy right here, so you grown men get yourself something to eat."
"We can't leave him, Mrs. McNeese," Quentin protested, his eyes darting towards the older nurse's assistant, who had a small smirk on her face. "He might be in danger."
"Don't worry," the perky blonde assistant replied, giving the men a wide grin that sent chilling vibes into the room. "Carson will be fine by the time you get back. I-"
"Back off," boomed another female's voice.
Every head whipped around to see a stunning Amazon of a blonde woman dressed in all black who held a gun in her hands. "Lainey DuBois, I knew you'd be here," she growled. "You dare defy the code to protect Carson?"
The assistant known as Lainey sighed dramatically, brandishing out a syringe. "I'm just doing this for the glory of the REAL Alpha of the Four Aces," she replied casually. "The runt needs to die so Regan can be the king."
"You bitch!" hissed Eurydice, letting his eyes glow red.
"Stay back, omega trash, or you'll be next," Lainey spat. "But it doesn't matter since-"
BANG!
The other female fired her gun, the bullet immediately landing in Lainey's skull. She shot again, this time taking down the rogue nurse in cold blood.
"Thank you," Alain breathed. "So, you're one of the good guys, huh?"
"You better believe it," the huntress replied, putting her gun away. "Name's Bianca Albritton from the Altimare Dynasty and we hunters and huntresses know all about the Moon Wolf right here and of his lineage. You can count on all the hunters around the world to protect Carson Hadley. As for Lainey, I had a hunch that the disgraced wolf known as Regan Zallenda would hire her to-"
"Kill our mate," Gavin growled. To his cohorts and the Joneslake clan, "We need to let Ciara and the Napiers know about what's going on."
"I just texted Ciara, and she's pissed off as well," Eurydice replied. "Harvey is calling all the Alphas and the Hunter matriarchs to talk about Regan about his fate."
"Let's move," Alain boomed. To Bianca, "Will you keep watching over Carson for us?"
"Sure thing," Bianca said. "Mrs. McNeese and I will keep him company, right?"
"Much obliged," Mrs. McNeese said as two silent janitors took away the corpse of Lainey as two more began to swiftly clean up the mess. "Call me Cathy Sue."
The men nodded, leaving quietly with anger in their eyes. "I want all the leaders and their best hunters and shifter warriors to meet us at the Four Aces pack," Nicholas ordered as he, his friends, and the Joneslake went through the hospital hallways. "Regan Zallenda, you will die for your sins!"
And all of the other patients, the doctors, and nurses who heard every word of what happened believed him. They knew that the Elite Eight were protective of Carson and they too hated Regan Zallenda with a passion. Regan had to go once and for all.
