Bianca Deseret Albritton.
Three words describe her perfectly: Amazon (she is taller than all of her brothers in her family), witty (she was the valedictorian at her high school and graduated summa cum laude at Tennessee), and lethal (she was the sharpest shooter and could easily take out rogue creatures and hunters in less than ten minutes).
But there's one more word that also describes her when it comes to the abused and broken omega creatures of the supernatural: compassionate. And not only did every member of the Hunting Dynasty held the Code of Law when it comes to protecting the supernatural, but they also made sure to treat the omegas with care in case one is suffering from abuse or being rejected.
And in the case of Carson Hadley, all of the trained Hunters knew of his story and were ready to protect the discovered Moon Wolf at all costs from Regan Zallenda. And since they also knew of Carson having eight second-chance mates of high caliber, the situation was very dire. Even more so since the late Lainey DuBois was set on taking him courtesy of the pariah werewolf.
"Child, this day is going from zero to chaotic since Lainey tried to kill this boy," Cathy Sue McNeese commented as she finished checking the comatose young man's vitals. "And you already know that all bets are off at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if my bosses were ready to trade blows with that fool."
"Well, one always needs to be ready in cases like this," Bianca commented just as her phone rang. "Hello?"
"Bianca, it's Marcia from the Domingue Dynasty," said a female's voice from the other end. "Listen, you need to head over to the-"
"I already know," Bianca cut her friend off just as there was a knock on the door, the nurse herself letting in three more black-clad hunters. "I took down DuBois since I had a feeling that something like this would happen."
"Thank Goddess," breathed Marcia. "I'm at the Four Aces pack mansion right now because things are getting hot thanks to that- that... you know. I can't believe that he dared to kill off his own mate, much less did it without leaving the dungeon."
"Believe it, girl." Bianca waved at the other hunters, who were sitting down and talking to each other. "Anyway, I bet that Mother Annette is ready to come out of retirement."
"She already has her crossbow polished and fine-tuned," replied Marcia with amusement. "All of the Matriarchs and their best hunters are here with the Alphas' top warriors while Regan is getting his ass beaten like he stole something. We're getting ready for this meeting. I'll fill you in, okay? And if Carson does wake up, let him know that the Domingue Dynasty sends him their love and hope that he enjoys the Maserati we gifted him."
Bianca chuckled. "As if that can top off my parents' gift for him- a Lamborghini," she replied, earning her some mock-boos and playful glares.
The line disconnected.
"I still can't believe that this is Carson Hadley in the flesh, and him being the son of Kings Iain and Archer as well as a Moon Wolf, no less," a small red-headed young woman said. "My father didn't even believe it when my parents talked to them yesterday. But the joke's on him when Iain shifted to his wolf."
"I already knew," commented a tall, Black dude with dreadlocks. "When my parents and aunt called me about the news, my girlfriend flipped out and immediately called her co-workers at the beauty shop and her Hunting Matriarch. They're chipping in with a Corvette for this little man right here."
The last hunter, a masculine brunette sporting a phoenix tattoo, tsked. "Colin, you must be joking. My team has for this guy a new boat, a house in the Hamptons, and- wait for it: an Aston Martin," he boasted before his face turned serious as he turned his gaze to Carson. "But for real, you guys. This is getting really serious right now with that pariah swearing to kill this kid. What if he actually goes through with his plans to escape?"
The red-headed huntress pulled out her gun, eyes narrowed in silts. "Then we make sure that Regan Zallenda is turned into sushi," she growled. "I always wanted to turn rogues into sushi and Regan will be my first test."
Bianca suppressed the urge to vomit. "Colleen, don't. I just ate," she replied. "Not even I would want to eat that. But he would be fitting for the rogues."
"You got that right," Colin commented.
"Bianca," the brunette said. "You know, this kid kind of reminds me of-"
Bianca cut him off. "I know, Clayton," she said before facing Carson. "Kid, you got a lot of people now joining the rally to protect you. Even us Hunters know who you are and we know better than to mess with what the Moon Goddess has in store for you. She must want you to rest until the threat known as your ex-mate is out of the picture."
"Amen to that," Colleen replied. "And Carson, the moment you wake up is when we hope that you find good friends in all of us. You look like a cutie who could go for lots of my aunt Lina's cheesecakes. She makes a mean raspberry cheesecake."
"True," Colin agreed. "And Carson, my girl and her Dynasty will hook you up with some new threads."
"I call dibs on him getting some combat training," Clayton piped up, making everyone's eyes roll playfully.
Bianca smiled softly. "We all have your back, Carson," she continued. "You know something? You remind me of my sister Arianna. She's in a coma just like you after being spurned by her mate Jaxon, may he rot in hell. Thanks to her, she suffered from a car crash that almost ended her life- twice. So please, Carson. If you see her, tell her that my parents and I are waiting for her to wake up."
"Damn, Bianca," Clayton said, steeling away a tear. "Kid, please wake up. And if you see my sister Vickie, tell her that I miss her. That bastard of a boyfriend ended her life with his anger issues and a gun when she threatened to leave her and I haven't forgiven myself for not doing enough to protect her. I can't lose you as well. We only just met, but you remind me so much of her with your innocence."
It was then Colin's turn. "My mama is hoping for the same thing," he said, coming up to place a single rose on Carson's chest. "She lost her sister to rogues and I swore to her that I'd protect all omegas from them and abusive assholes. Regan is an ass for breaking your heart like that. He lost himself a good mate like you."
"Colleen?" Bianca said, noticing that the red-head was silent.
Colleen looked up, tears in her eyes. "I lost my sisters to my ex-mate," she confessed. "He rejected me on the spot before shifting into his jackal and killed off Sienna and Eve. And my baby brother Luciano? He got his heart broken by a spiteful were-panther and was nearly killed. He's in a coma as well. Carson, please take care of my baby brother until you two either wake up or the Goddess herself calls you both home."
And after all that's been said and done, the tears began to flow freely by the four hunters.
The door swung open to reveal Gabriella and the other guard as they came bearing roses and teary eyes. "Carson, we miss you and we love you." the latter replied. "This is Morgana, one of the guards outside of your door. I lost my dad yesterday and he made me swear to guard you with all my heart. So take your time with your rest. We will get rid of Regan and make sure that you are loved."
No sooner than she said those words, a Hispanic female nurse (a mermaid) came in and joined them with teary eyes, followed by a widowed vampire whose son was fighting a rogue witch's curse. All of them had one thing in common: they had someone who reminded them of Carson and were in the same situation or already lost their lives. And they were praying to the Moon Goddess and to the comatose boy to wake up.
