My New Life From A Former Tyrant

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Sep 18, 2023

Hours later, I finally entered my room feeling worn down. I never thought I would have so much work piled up. I thought at least someone would lessen the load, but whatever the case, I am glad that I managed to get it all done in one day. I stripped myself from my shirt, and I heard a low whistle coming from behind me. Looking back, Luna stood in the doorway, looking at my chest and torso.

"Can I help you with something?" I asked, tossing my shirt to the side.

"Nope, just enjoying the view. I didn't know doing nothing could give you muscles like that," Luna said as her eyes raked over my chest.

"Well, I am not completely lazy. I do have an image to maintain," I said, crossing her arms.

"You do it well," She said as one corner of her mouth rose.

"Well, if you don't mind, then I would like to sleep," I said, and Luna shrugged and snapped her finger, and her clothes changed.

"What is this attire now?" I asked, sitting on the edge of the bed and looking at her.

"Well, this is what you call workout clothes. Mine consists of leggings and a sports bra," She said, showing off her outfit and fantastic figure. Even though she was dressed in all black, she still looked good.

"You are working out? Don't you need sleep?" I asked.

"Well, I don't really need to sleep because, for starters, I am not really human, so I don't need basic human functions like sleep and stuff to get by. Also, I am rusty, so I need to see if I still got it," Luna said. I scanned Luna's body and started to feel hot because of how her pants hugged her hips. I looked at her chest and how I wished I was in that binder. I felt the heat running downward, and I started to panic because I had to stop myself before I made a fool of myself again. I cleared my throat, got up, and moved to my wardrobe, avoiding looking at Luna.

"Very well, I am going to retire for the night," I said, slipping on some sleepwear.

"Well, don't miss me too much because I don't think you will be sleeping much tonight," Luna said, giving me a wink, and I felt even hotter. Of course, she would know.

"Maybe I can get sleep without being interrupted," I said. Luna rolled her eyes, and I smiled at her.

"I'll leave you to it. Luna is out. Peace," She said, and by the blink of an eye, she was gone and left me confused again. I stripped myself of my trousers, grabbed the lounge pants that Luna gave me, a slipped them on. Now feeling comfortable. I slipped into bed, staring at the ceiling. After being able to start over again, I have been pushing myself to right the wrongs I have committed. If I saw Angela again, I thought I would feel emotional, but when I looked at her, I felt empty. Yes, I was still angry, but once I got past that emotion, what I felt was nothing. I tried to turn off my mind, but strange enough, my mind kept drifting to Luna. Even though she came into my life without reason, I must say that I enjoy her company. Her past will always be a mystery, but I hope she will be willing to share it with me one day. I started to feel my body get heavy as I drifted to sleep, thinking about my new companion.

"Your Highness, it is time to wake," I heard Edith call out. I moaned and rolled to my side, hoping to get more sleep, but I was wrong when I heard my curtains opening and the light assaulting my eyes.

"Okay, I am up," I said, rolling onto my back. I forced myself to get up, pulling the covers back and throwing my feet off the bed. I looked over to Edith, and she was walking past me to prepare my bath. After a while, she returned to the room and gave me a strange look.

"What are you wearing, your Highness?" She asked. I looked down and saw the pants I put on before bed, which were the lounge pants that Luna had given me. I couldn't help myself. They were too comfortable not to be put on.

"Well, Edith, they are lounge pants," I got up from my bed, and she looked like she wanted to say something but shut her mouth. "Is there any news for me, Edith?" I asked, and Edith nodded.

"Yes, but that will come after your bath," She said.

"But Edith, I would like to hear the news now," I said, but the girl did not break. She frowned at me, poking her lip out as her nose scrunched. If I didn't say she looks like a small rabbit before, she certainly looks like one now. I knew I wouldn't get my way, so I only shrugged and bathed first.

I must say Edith was right to make me bathe first. I feel refreshed, and my mind is clear. After my bath, I changed, and Edith was out in my drawing room, placing cups for tea. I smiled, watching her, and tried to figure out things would be different if I had met her in my past life.

"Are you joining me for some morning tea Edith?" I asked, and the poor girl almost dropped the kettle.

"N- no, your Highness, you have visitors," Edith said.

"Who is it?" I asked.

"W- well, sir, a woman arrived saying that they received a letter from you and that you requested for them," Edith said, and I held back a smile. I thought that Luna would at least wait for me to wake before she did this.

"Very well, where is she?" I asked.

"Well, she is with Charles in his study, speaking before he brings her to you," Edith said.

"Well then, let us go, Edith," I said, walking towards the door.

"B-but sir, what about your tea?" Edith asked.

"I will drink it later. We can't have my guest waiting," I said, leaving the room. I heard Edith's light footsteps running to keep up with my fast pace.

I reached Charles's room and opened the doors, beaming at the older man behind his desk.

"Good morning Charles. Edith told me that my guest had arrived," I asked. I looked at the chairs and saw Luna sitting there with a bored look, but she was not alone. I looked at the other chair, and a young boy sat there. He looked terrified and was shaking in his chair.

"G- good morning, your highness. I wasn't expecting you until much later," Charles said, getting up.

"Well, when I am told I have guests I invited, I would like to greet them myself," I said.

"Yes, but of course," Charles said, moving towards me.

"Don't be so hard on him. He was just making sure I was not a danger to you and your family," Luna said, getting up from her chair. I must say that I was shocked as to what Luna was wearing. I was expecting to see her in one of her questionable outfits, but this time, she looked normal. She wore pants a commoner would wear, and her white tunic was peaking out from behind her black cloak. I know I said this was normal, but thinking about it felt wrong. It was like she was not Luna.

"Well, I would hope that you weren't," I said, and Luna smiled, walking up to me and pulling me into a hug.

"It is about time you showed up. A second later, I would've died from boredom," Luna whispered.

"Well, you never told me you would do it this early," I whispered. Luna pulled away from me and turned to Charles, who had a confused look on his face.

"This is your mentor, Prince Stephen?" Charles asked.

"Yes, is there a problem?" I asked, and Charles blinked and sighed before returning to his desk.

"Very well," Charles said.

"Well, that being said. Edith will show Luna to her room. I will catch up in just a moment," I said.

"Yes, your highness. Follow me, Dame Luna," Edith said. I saw Luna's face scrunch up in disgust. Once the two were gone, it was just me, Charles, and the mystery boy.

"Now that my mentor will be getting settled in, I hope this young boy sitting in your chair has something to do with who has been in my study?" I asked, sitting on the couch and staring at the two.

"Well, Prince Stephen, this Michael. He is the butler in training," Charles said.

"How old are you, Michael?" I asked, and the boy took a long breath before addressing me.

"I- I am 19 years old, your highness," He said. Ah, he is the same age as Edith. Why is he training to be a butler instead of using his knowledge to good use? I slapped my thighs, picked myself up from the couch, and walked over to the boy.

"Very well, follow me. We need to chat," I walked to the door and looked back. Charles was getting up with Michael, and I held my hand up. "Charles, as much as I love your presents, I would like to talk to Michael alone," I said. Charles froze, looking at the young man before looking back at me and giving me a slight nod.

"Of course, Prince Stephen," Charles said, and I looked at the boy and smiled.

"Good shall we take our leave?" I asked Michael, and he nodded, following me out of the room.

We walked for a while, and Michael didn't say a word. He was afraid to say something because he thinks he is being punished. We approached my study, and I pushed the door open, stepping inside with Michael close behind, now shaking even more.

"Please close the door behind you, Michael," I walked over to my desk and sat down. I watched the boy turn to close the door. Once it is, closed, he slowly approaches me, stopping inches from my desk and fidgeting where he stood. "Michael, if you want to ask me something, you better say it now before I talk about your recent activities," I said, sliding my glasses on.

"Am I going to be punished, your highness?" Michael asked. I blinked at the boy and held my head down; my body started to shake, and the laughter I held back came out. I threw my head and started laughing harder, and once I felt myself coming down, I looked over at the boy, and he looked more confused than scared.

"My apologies, but you humor me. You are not in trouble. You are here because I want to praise you." I said, and the boy almost fell.

"P- praise me, sir, but why?" he asked.

"You seem to know how to handle my work, correct?" The boy nodded, and I frowned. "Michael, if we are to work together, then we need to speak with each other," I said.

"W- work to- together?" He asked.

"Yes, work together. I want to offer you a new position at the palace," I said.

"Really, can I ask why?" He asked, and I leaned back in my chair.

"Well, I need people I can trust, and I know you are doing this not to look for the praise. You are looking for the best for this country," I said.

"Well, I only organized your work because I heard you fell ill," Michael said.

"For a month?" Michael opened his mouth and shut it, and I sighed. "Look, Michael, I assume you didn't want to be a butler for the rest of your life in the palace and let your talents go to waste. Am I correct? "I asked, and the boy nodded.

"When can I start, your highness?" Michael asked. I looked into the young boy's eyes, and the fear that was there was no longer there, and it was replaced with determination. I smiled and held my hand out.

"We start now," I said, and Michael took my hand, and I smiled. I had another person in my corner, and I only needed one more person for my plan to begin finally.
