Seeing Nolan walk closer, the driver opened the car’s second-row door for him. Nolan got into the car, sat down, and placed his long sword beside him. The driver closed the car door and sat in the driver’s seat on the left. The car then drove away.
The car that Nolan was in drove on a highway made of an arrangement of stones with a flat surface. Highway traffic was neither heavy nor quiet, filled with carriages drawn by rhino-like animals and classic-like cars. The city view on the right and left of Nolan’s car windows was the classic-style buildings typical of this city, with busy pedestrians of various humanoid races walking on the sidewalk. This car had a luxurious interior decorated with glossy brown wood trim. Nolan enjoyed the view outside the car window while propping his chin on his right hand.
Sometime later, Nolan’s car arrived at a short, beautifully carved wall fence and entered an expansive area with green grass and trees typical of this planet and a classic three-story luxury building. The car stops in front of the building entrance, with a beautifully carved concrete porch in front of it and a one-way stone road below it. The mayor was a humanoid old man with graying hair, purple skin, and wearing a neat overcoat, standing at the entrance to welcome Nolan. A male security guard from this planet's race opens the car’s door for Nolan. Nolan walked out of the car and left his sword inside the car. Nolan turned to the mayor and smiled as he approached him. The mayor smiled.
“How are you, Nolan?”
Nolan smiled and replied as he walked.
“Amazing as usual.”
They stood face to face and shook hands. The mayor smiled.
“Let’s talk for a while.”
Nolan nodded, his expression turned curious.
“Of course.”
They both walked away.
They walked on a sidewalk beside the park in the front yard of the mayor’s building, with beautiful, neat, orderly trees, green grass, and various kinds and colors of flowers from this planet. The mayor smiled.
“Thank you for your hard work so far protecting Wervas planet. We feel lucky because you are our guardian; other planets around the universe may not be so lucky.”
That matter appeared to catch Nolan’s attention.
“You mean arbitrary from their new ruler or guardian?”
The mayor nodded.
“That’s right, our planetary defense force and fleet won’t be able to withstand the forces out there, and the latest is the war between Dzyranth and Titan. I hope Wervas planet can always work with you.”
Nolan smiled and nodded. They arrived at a classic building with a raised surface and a short staircase in front of it, with a roof and rows of beautifully carved wooden pillars, railings, and three rows of round metal tables with four chairs each. They sat at one of the tables with a waiter standing nearby, who had prepared light dishes and drinks served on beautiful glassware. They continued talking while enjoying the view and the dishes for some time, then continued walking together on the sidewalk.
After some time of being greeted by the mayor with various activities, Nolan was sitting in the previous sedan with the same driver. This car drove out of the mayor’s building area. Inside the car, Nolan sat and relaxed. He turned to the driver.
“We go to the Sner Dar fountain.”
The driver nodded as he looked at Nolan momentarily from the rearview mirror.
“Of course, sir.”
From inside the pocket behind his overcoat, Nolan took out his touch screen cellphone, which had a light blue transparent glass shape with a black frame only at its bottom edge. This cellphone screen displayed the contact of the “Guest of Honor.” Nolan sends a text message that says, “Let’s meet now” to the contact, then puts his cell phone away again. Nolan looked around the city view from behind the car windows while propping his chin with his right hand and smiled. The car then accelerated toward the center of the city.
The sky was increasingly orange, with the sun shining gently. The faint views of the fleet of massive battlecarrier starships and fighter starplanes of the Lantern Space Pirate Alliance. In an expansive garden with shady trees, flowers, and grass arranged beautifully and neatly, the center of this park was divided by two flat stone roads for pedestrians that crossed to each other in the center of the park, and in the center of it was a fountain decorated with beautiful carvings, rows of benches with their backs toward the garden, and a row of lampposts in the middle along this pedestrian road.
Arlen, Grimor, and Rothur stood by the fountain, waiting for someone to arrive. Rothur looked at the clock on his faint blue transparent glass phone screen while looking around and appeared to realize something. His expression turned astonished.
“This meeting place was exposed so much; I can even feel cold glances from some people around us.”
Some people who walked past them realized who they were and glanced at them while talking with their nearby friends. Grimor’s expression turned deadpan.
“I think it’s only natural that they are like that.”
Arlen looked around astonishedly.
“Why is Nolan not here yet?”
Rothur’s expression turned doubtful.
“I don’t know, even though he asked to meet now.”
A man in an armored black cloak with a metal mask that resembled the face part of a mecha covering his entire face walked from a distance and approached them. Grimor was the first to notice the cloaked man’s arrival.
“Our other alliance has come.”
Grimor’s words drew Rothur and Arlen’s attention. The cloaked man finally got near the three of them.
“Hello, comrades. Are you ready for this historic day?”
Arlen smiled broadly.
“Of course, we’ll meet Nolan, the second-ranked most wanted fugitive in the universe.”
Rothur looked at Arlen with a deadpan expression.
“You are completely affected by all of this....”
Grimor looked around in astonishment.
“You came alone?”
The cloaked man turned to Grimor.
“Right, the other members of my organization have a business they’re currently working on.”
They continued chatting with each other.
On the other hand, Nolan’s car arrived outside the park roundabout, and he got out of his car, carrying his long sword slung over his back. Nolan walked toward the fountain and entered the pedestrian road. Nolan’s arrival caught the attention of many people around here who happened to be looking his way. Nolan arrived a few meters near Arlen and the others, who were busy chatting with each other and didn’t notice Nolan’s arrival. Arlen looked curious as he crossed his arms and held his chin.
“I’m curious about how strong Nolan is. Maybe I’ll ask him to fight to train my skills.”
The cloaked man was surprised. He appeared to realize something while crossing his arms and propping his chin with his right hand.
“That’s probably an excellent idea.”
Rothur was surprised.
“Good idea; I also want to try to fight him.”
Hearing that all, Nolan smiled and walked up to them as he spoke.
“Alright, let’s practice together sometime.”
Arlen, Grimor, Rothur, and the cloaked man were surprised. They turned toward the source of the voice and found Nolan already standing near them. The cloaked man could hardly believe what he was seeing.
“I didn't expect I would actually see Nolan before me….”
Seeing Nolan bothered Rothur slightly for some reason. Grimor smiled.
“I feel honored to meet you, Nolan.”
Nolan smiled.
“I should be the one who said that.”
Nolan glanced at Rothur, slightly surprised him. Nolan smiled.
“Long time no see, Rothur.”
Rothur’s expression turned serious.
“Nice to meet you, Nolan. It’s been a long time.”
Seeing the two appear unfamiliar to each other made the others wonder because they knew that Nolan and Rothur used to be close friends from an orphanage, so they were like brothers. Nolan smiled.
“I have booked dinner at a nearby restaurant; let’s talk there. Please follow me.”
The others’ expressions turned curious. Nolan smiled and walked away. The others walked after him. As they walked through the pedestrian road that cut through the beautiful park on their right and left, they chatted while enjoying the views around them on the still-long pedestrian road. Nolan smiled.
“I heard a lot of amazing news about Endless space pirate; you all have done it successfully.”
Arlen rubbed his nose with a big smile.
“Not really. I just want to be the next person to reach the Last Planet and Starless Region.”
Nolan was slightly surprised; he appeared to realize something.
“Different from decades ago, those words have developed into a bold wish now because numerous very strong, powerful, and dangerous parties out there also want to go there while expanding their territory.”
The cloaked man looked curious.
“Do you also have the desire to go there, Nolan?”
Nolan smiled.
“Of course, any amount of power will be meaningless if you can’t get there.”
Arlen nodded curiously.
After walking for some time, they arrived outside the park roundabout and crossed the highway, passing several classic-looking cars and carriages pulled by rhino-like creatures. They walked on the sidewalk here and turned into a wide pedestrian road. They walked in this crowded pedestrian alley while looking at the atmosphere of the classic buildings around them. The cloaked man appeared curious.
“Speaking of the Starless Region and the Last Planet, does anyone know what kind of place they are?”
