My side of the story is a little different then my friend, Ethan's. I was held up in the guidance counselor's office. Apparently she thought I was on the verge of ending everything. If I knew what would happen that day I wouldn't even attempt. For me the apocalypse was an escape. Sure, good friends died and that made everything feel hopeless but overall it felt right. I remember hearing the sounds that Ethan, Edin, Dallen, and Ashton described to me. The sounds of the dead, like music to my ears. The counselor, Ms. Parkensin, locked her door, together we hid in the back of her office. I didn't want to hide. I wanted to see what was happening.
Not everyone made it into classrooms on time. Many were left wandering the halls, face to face with the dead. I heard their screams as the dead's teeth sank into their flesh. Ms. Parkensin was terrified, you could see it in her eyes. Me on the other hand, didn't know what to think. By now I've seen many of the undead creatures and I know it would have really messed me up if I saw them that day.

We waited there for hours. It was already a quarter past four by the time we finally heard an announcement from the office over the loud speaker.
"The intruders have been dealt with. Students and staff please make your way out the front doors and onto the buses. Do not leave school grounds. Do not try to find your regular bus number. Form neat lines and we will get you home safely."
The teacher unlocked the door and immediately all the students rushed out. I followed once everyone was out. I heard students scream in terror at the sight of the blood on the walls. I wasn't planning to go anywhere near the front doors. I wasn't leaving.
I saw Aiden from across the hall. He was tall so he was easy to spot. I pushed my way through the crowd of students. As I reached him he grabbed me and Edin's arm, who was also approaching him, and pulled us both into Mr. Kirkin's classroom, shutting the door.
"What the hell is going on?" Edin asked, she had spots of blood on her face. Aiden could tell it bothered her so he gently wiped it off.
"We can't leave. I just came from gym class outside. There are more of those things out there. A lot more." Aiden informed. He seemed terrified. I guess it was fitting.
"We need to find Rudi, Dallen, and Ash. We can't let them go out there," I exclaimed. We opened the door slowly, the halls were no longer filled with students. Aiden went out first and was met with the sight of more of those monsters.

When I opened the door I saw more of those things. They were attacking the students that got separated from the crowd. But the monsters weren't the adults that I saw through the classroom window, they were kids. They ran at everyone, biting their necks, arms, and anything they could. I shut the door as I saw one look right at me. Eyes sky blue. Dead.
"What?" Ethan asked.
"There's more."
"We still need to find them though," Edin said, worried.
"I'll go," Ethan offered.
"No, stay here. I know where Rudi is anyways," I said, quickly opening the door and shutting it. I ran down the halls, avoiding anyone I saw. There were less people now, most of them had gotten out. I saw Dallen out of the corner of my eye. I said his name quietly to him, I preyed that he wasn't one of those things. He turned around quickly and ran to me, pulling me into a tight embrace.
"Come with me, we need to find Rudolph and Ashton." He followed as we continued our way to the guidance counselor's office.
"Do you know where they are?" He asked, pulling away.
"I know where Rudi is but not Ashton."
"I saw Ash by the media center earlier, he went inside and the teachers in there locked the door."
"You should go find him. Split up, it would be faster."
"Why do we need to find them anyways?" Dallen asked.
"We can't leave, there's more of those things outside."
"But they're in here too."
"We'll figure that out later."
