Chapter 8: Forgive me

We got to the office, the door was unlocked but it was closed. Khai tried to open it, turning the knob carefully. We all jumped back before it could open though. One of the monsters was in there, they banged on the door. They were hungry and we were their desired meal.

"What do we do?" Rudolph asked. The monster was taller than all of us, all of us besides Connor.

"I'll do it," Connor said with a sad smile. We weren't skilled enough for this, it was too early on, he knew he wouldn't make it. We haven't had to do this yet and we would have to learn at some point.

"No, we can figure out another way," Amy protested. They were good friends, she didn't want to loose a good friend.

"It will be okay, Amy, it'll be okay." He leaned forward and gave Amy a quick and gentle kiss on the lips, smiling and took the door knob into his hand.

"Go for the head," Khai said, placing a hand on Connor's shoulder.

"Forgive me, Khai."

He opened the door and the monster flung itself to him he struggled but placed the blade into it's skull but not before he was bit. It was deep, he was in pain but he just smiled. The son of a bitch just fucking smiled.

"You see Amy, my family always would tell me death is not the end and I know I'll see you again." He fell to the ground, not dead just in pain.  There were tears in Amy's eyes, we all stared at Connor in shock, still not fully aware of what happened.

I was the first to grab the door handle. I stepped over the monster's dead body and made my way inside.

"Where is it?" I asked Aiden who followed behind me.

"Behind the desk, it's a big red button." I searched behind the desk and soon enough my fingers landed on that exact button. I pressed it with a smile but then a sudden fear rushed over me.
