Anna sat in her cozy living room, the days since her last conversation with Luke stretching into a seemingly endless week. Thoughts of him consumed her mind, and she couldn't help but wonder where he was and what he was doing. Had he forgotten about her? Was he simply caught up in the chaos of life?

Lost in her thoughts, Anna was jolted from her reverie by a knock on the door. Curiosity mingled with caution as she approached the entrance. She opened the door, revealing a woman standing there, her eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses and an air of mystery surrounding her.

"Hello, Anna," the woman greeted, her voice smooth but tinged with an undercurrent of danger. "My name is Monique."

Anna studied the woman, her heart racing with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. "Do I know you?" she asked, her voice laced with caution.“Anna ,whose that ?“ Anna's young brother Erick asked from the hallway. “Get back inside” Anna ordered making her brother rush upstairs to his room.

Monique smirked, her gaze fixated on Anna. "No, we've never met formally. But you've caught the attention of someone who knows you very well."

Confusion etched across Anna's face. "I don't understand. Who are you?"

Monique removed her sunglasses, revealing cold, calculating eyes that sent a shiver down Anna's spine. "Let's just say I have a vested interest in Luke. You see, he's not just an ordinary man. He's entangled in a world that you can't possibly comprehend."

Anna's heart raced, fear coursing through her veins. "What are you talking about? What world?"

Monique took a step closer, her voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "Luke is a pawn in a game much bigger than you or him. And you, my dear Anna, have become an inconvenient obstacle."

Anna's mind raced, her thoughts consumed by the realization that danger lurked closer than she had ever imagined. She tried to maintain her composure. "What do you want from me?"

Monique's smile sent chills down Anna's spine. "I want you to disappear, to leave Luke's life for good. He belongs to me, and I won't allow anyone to get in the way."

Anna's voice quivered as she spoke, a mix of fear and defiance. "I won't let you intimidate me. Luke deserves to know the truth."

Monique's eyes narrowed, her voice laced with a warning. "You have no idea what you're up against, Anna. I suggest you stay out of this if you value yours and your poor little brothers life.“

With those ominous words, Monique turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving Anna trembling with a newfound understanding of the dangers that surrounded her. The mystery of Luke's whereabouts became secondary to the overwhelming realization that her life had become entwined with something far more sinister. Determination and fear mingled within her as she resolved to uncover the truth and protect herself from the dangerous web that Monique had woven. She was not ready to loose anything yet though ,not her brother nor her love for Luke.

 

This woman Monique, She was a powerful and alluring figure, commanding attention with her dangerous beauty. Her eyes, mesmerizing and golden, reflected intelligence and ruthlessness. Her lustrous ebony hair flowed freely, defying any attempt to tame it. Her flawless complexion hinted at a life of privilege, yet bore the scars of her journey to power.

With her seductive crimson lips and a knowing smile, she exuded confidence and danger. Her attire, blending elegance and danger, showcased her sophistication. The serpent patterns on her dress symbolized her cunning and control, hinting at the venom that lay beneath her enticing exterior.

Some saw her as an angel of temptation, ensnaring unsuspecting victims, while others recognized her as a ruthless queen, leaving destruction in her wake.

Anna knew she couldn't stand as a rival to such a woman even with the way she talked, her voice sent shivers down Anna's spine. This made her want to forget anything about Luke with in a second but as it is said “ love is love”

Luke sat in his dimly lit apartment, his mind filled with a whirlwind of emotions. He had just discovered that his father had arranged a marriage for him without his consent, a revelation that left him feeling trapped and suffocated. He knew he had to do something, but he also couldn't ignore the growing feelings he had for Anna.

With a deep breath, Luke picked up his phone and dialed Anna's number. His heart raced as he waited for her to answer, unsure of how she would react or what he would say. After a few rings, her voice finally filled the line.

"Hello?" Anna's voice was tinged with a mixture of surprise and curiosity.

"Anna, it's Luke," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. "I need to talk to you. Can we meet somewhere?"

There was a brief pause on the other end of the line before Anna responded, her voice filled with concern. "Of course, Luke. Is everything okay? Where do you want to meet?"

Luke thought for a moment, considering a safe and private place where they could talk without any interruptions. "How about that little café near the park? We can meet there in an hour."

"Sure, I'll be there," Anna replied, her tone laced with a mix of anticipation and worry.

As Luke hung up the phone, he couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling in his gut. He knew he had to end things with Anna to protect her from the dangerous world he was about to be entangled in. He didn't want her to become another pawn in Monique's twisted game.

He knew for sure in anyway ,if Monique had arrived in the country , she was after him or Anna and he was sure she knew Anna and had made her a visit. That was how she did all her work.

Arriving at the café, Luke scanned the room, searching for Anna. He spotted her sitting at a corner table, her expression a mixture of curiosity and concern. Taking a deep breath, he approached her.

"Anna," Luke began, his voice filled with a mix of sadness and determination. "I need to talk to you about something important."

Anna's eyes widened as she looked up at Luke, sensing the seriousness in his voice. "What is it, Luke? Is something wrong?"

Luke took a seat across from her, his hands trembling slightly. "I've just found out that my father has arranged a marriage for me. I don't have a choice in the matter, and it's not safe for you to be involved with me anymore."

Confusion clouded Anna's face as she tried to comprehend his words. "What do you mean, not safe? Why would it be dangerous?" “ Luke, I don't care.“

Luke hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. He didn't want to put Anna in harm's way, but he also couldn't bear the thought of losing her. "Anna, there are people involved in this marriage arrangement who are dangerous. They won't hesitate to hurt you if they find out about us."he added forgetting that the marriage thing was not something he wanted to tell her.

Anna looked confused at what Luke had just said. “What marriage, Luke , who is getting married here? It's not me. Is ….is it you Luke?“ Anna asked stammering, her own tears chocking her with every breath she took. She was trying hard not to believe what she just heard as if it was the first time Luke had mentioned him getting married ever since the conversation had began.

Luke didn't know what to say “ this is it, he thought to himself. No turning back” he said to himself.“ Anna , it's me .“Luke answered keeping his eyes on her just to take in her reaction. “My dad arranged a marriage for me.“ he continued.

At first ,Anna stayed quite. This hit her a mile, she had hope in their relationship, she thought he was the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She stood up to walk away but halted in her tracks and looked at Luke. “You made a promise to me , you said you would love me forever and when ever , what happened and Who are these people, Luke? Why would they want to hurt me?"

Luke's voice dropped to a whisper as he leaned closer, his eyes filled with urgency. "Anna, the woman my father wants me to marry, Monique, she's not who she seems. She's involved in criminal activities, and she's dangerous. She already came to see you, didn't she?"

“Are you with her ..I mean what kind of job do you do, Luke? “ Anna asked trying not to think of the possibility that Luke is involved with any criminal activities just like Monique had said earlier .Luke kept quiet as he stared blankly at her. He never told her, infact he always ignored this question when ever she asked it but fate played tricks with him , here he was again facing this fear again.

“Luke , I want to know, I mean stop keeping me out okay.“Anna broke the silence again this time, his silence meant something “ So you lied about everything didn't you?, Your job, your family ,your interests . I trusted you Luke . Why?“.Luke remained silent , he actually felt bad . He was totally breaking down.“ Who the hell are you?“ Anna asked her voice betraying her because of the anger she felt. She needed answers now or never.

.“I am a drug Lord Anna”he finally said waiting for her reaction. Anna was speechless, she didn't know what to do instead she just clenched her fist trying hard to act the big woman she was.she was not to cry, not now even when everything she wanted was breaking down.“So she was right.“Anna said to herself,now her tears starting to peak through her eyes.

“And yes, I do bussiness with her.“he continued casually.

Anna's eyes widened with a mix of fear and disbelief. 

Anna's face turned pale, her hands trembling slightly. " So you know ,How... how do you know about that?… I mean how did you know she came to see me? Oh ,no need to explain, I know ,you drug Lord's from the movies, stalking me right.“ Anna couldn't help it. At this moment ,she couldn't think of anything she said. She was mad and angry at herself. How did she end up like this.

"I know because I've seen what she's capable of," Luke replied, his voice tinged with a hint of regret. "I can't let you get caught up in this. I need to end things between us to keep you safe." 

Tears welled up in Anna's eyes as she reached out and grabbed Luke's hand. "But Luke, I care about you.“ Anna added. “Stop this Anna.“ Luke said trying to keep his voice calm. “ You don't love me, am sure this will end in a while.“ Luke continued determined to get her where he wanted. He had to end this.

“And don't cry, I hate seeing those clumsy tears of yours.“ he said. He needed to put it into her head, he needed to end this anyway. Whether it hurt him or not, he had to do it. 

“But …” “ No buts Anna, I DON'T LOVE YOU. I just wanted to use you for some work I was working on.Dont you realise that this relationship was all fake. You said it yourself ,what do you know about me, NOTHING!!. Are you even sure that Luke is my name. You are so dumb… Your are so boring .“ He said as he stood and left for the door leaving Anna sobbing.He rushed for the door not wanting to look back , he was scared he would change his mind if he did . 

He didn't want to do this , it was killing him. However, before he got out, he had her cries. This made his heart ache, he couldn't breath anymore. “Did you lie about everything you said Luke” he heard her ask, he didn't have to answer that so he walked out of the cafe instead.

All he did hurt him, maybe even more than it hurt Anna but he had to, it was the only solution. For Anna, he was ready to sacrifice his happiness.
