The Last Dragon Keeper

14- she's not dead! :D

14- she's not dead! :D

Jul 27, 2023

After two days, two very rough days for everyone, Sasha's state was finally stable. Hopefully, her head was totally fine and her other minor injuries had started to heal, thanks to a very long rest and some magic. However, her leg was pretty much done for. Lysandra had rushed over to them the day after the accident after she heard what happened to her refugee. She couldn't hold her tears when she saw the little girl in such a bad state. She stood at her bedside and cried. She felt like what happened was her fault. She hadn't been there for the little girl. She unleashed all her anger and distress onto her during their argument, even if the young girl had done nothing. Sasha wasn't the one Lysandra wanted to shout at.

” She is just a child. I have to protect her, thought the angel.”

She left in a hurry soon after her visit and came back with her brother, Mica, an incredibly skilled healer. Her injuries were too overwhelming for the old healer of the village. He was used to treating scratches and assisting in childbirth. Sasha needed someone with more experience. Lysandra stayed by his side while he examined Sasha. In the end, Mica told his sister that healing Sasha's leg was going to be a challenging task, even for him, but not an impossible one.

One night, Sasha finally opened her eyes. She soon realized that one of them was covered in some kind of cloth and her torso and right leg were tightly wrapped in bandages. She tried sitting but was unsuccessful.

” Where am I? She asked in her hoarse voice, panicked.”

Manta, who was sitting in a corner near the girl, turned around, shocked to finally hear the little girl talking and hopped towards her.

” You idiot! You scared me, whimpered Manta. I thought that you were gone for sure!”

” What?”

” You got crushed by those monstrously big rocks! Idiot! The Etomanian angrily told. ”

” Ah yes I remember now! said the girl. I still feel like I'm under the rocks though ahah-ouch! She tried to make a joke but her ribs made her regret laughing. She smirked at Manta through the pain while still holding her ribs.  ”

” You goofbug! Now is NOT the time for jokes. She said with tears in her eyes. ”

She left and then came back with Elwyn, Lysandra and another angel she didn't know. He had warm blonde hair cut short unlike Lysandra, who had long winter white hair, and his skin wasn't as pale as hers. He had a fancy long white suit and, from what Sasha saw, he seemed to have larger, rounder wings.

” Sasha! Lysandra gasped in relief, kneeling next to the bed. I'm so sorry Sasha. I- if only.. i-i... I failed you! she stuttered. You would have been fine, I- ”

” Lysandra, interrupted Sasha. It's not your fault. I have been too reckless and I'm sorry for scaring you all. ”

” What matters is that you are still with us. That's what counts, said Elwyn to make the mood just a bit less heavy.”

Sasha asked them where they were, as they had not answered her before. Elwyn explained that they were in the village down the cliff and that due to this unfortunate turn of events, they would have to stay there until she recovers.

” Lysandra, I'm so so sorry, apologized Sasha. I'm sorry that you had to cancel whatever your plans were to come to see me. ”

” Don't be, dear. I had to join you sooner or later. I'm just happy I arrived with Mica, my brother, on time, said the angel with a smile. She then leaned closer to Sasha and lowered her voice. I wanted to talk to you about something. I think we should go ba- ”

” Excuse me Lysa. I don't mean to be rude, but I have to talk to Sasha about her treatment plan, politely interrupted Mica.”

” Ah yes! No problem at all, Bye Sasha, said Elwyn. ”

Sasha is a very curious and stubbornly brave (or stupid) 13 years old girl. One day, she couldn't take it anymore. She was craving a new adventure, so she fled her adoptive mother looking for a more action-filled life. Guess what? Well, she found it! But maybe it wasn't exactly what she was expecting. She woke up, after a dramatic fall, in an unfamiliar, fantastic world called Egea where lives some of the most unexpected of creatures. Along the way, she meets a lot of interesting people(?) but also falls face-to-face with a very unfortunate series of events. Will she be able to make it back to her family? or will she find out that she belongs somewhere else...?
