A dizzying disorientation was unleashed upon Oto’s senses as they slowly awoke to the consciousness of the world around them. The overwhelming sensations faded from their mind as dark and blurry images began to construct their vision. Piece by piece, their surroundings started to come into focus. . .

. . . A black sky. . .

. . . Dots of light. . .

. . . Clumps of color. . .

. . . Some kind of light show?

It was the only conclusion Oto’s mind could comprehend. But as their sight cleared, they were taken by an array of star clusters, quasars and nebula.

Am I in Space?!

The realization caused Oto to stumble backward in awe and shock. But without gravity or a solid surface beneath them, they were thrust into a weightless spiral. Their arms shot out and tried to reclaim their balance. Only, instead of arms, glowing blue orbs were summoned from their sides and rebalanced them.

Oto quickly examined their body. The balls of light were tethered to them by thin streams of light. As the orbs moved, the threads would flex as arms would. There were two more similarly orbs beneath them that seemed to be acting as their legs. But instead of being attached to a torso, the light threads went directly up to their head.

“What the-”

Oto assumed what they’d heard was their voice. But as they spoke, they couldn’t feel sound being projected from their throat. The words seemed to be manifesting into the air as they were thought.

“What’s happened to me? What is this place? How did I get here . . .”

So many questions piled up in Oto’s mind as they tried to make sense out of whatever situation they were in. They tried to look around for anything that could help them. But, the only thing they could see were the celestial bodies that made-up the scenery. Each was probably millions of miles away from where they were.

If they were closer, Oto might have tried to move closer to one, but as it was-

“Huh!?”

Oto’s thoughts were interrupted when the world became a tunnel of lights that flew by as they accelerated forward, towards a single red star.
