My Healing Game

002. Harmonious Neighborhood Relations

002. Harmonious Neighborhood Relations

Jul 28, 2023

“Life Perfect is a casual healing game that nourishes the soul and soothes the body. we will bring positive power to all players with hope and happiness…”

Time passes by minute, and it is not until 23:59 that the mechanical synthesis sound in the depth of Han Fei’s mind comes to an abrupt end.

“Now you can choose your perfect life.”

The hard and cold ground stimulates his face, and Han Fei slowly opens his eyes, finding himself lying in an unfamiliar room.

The house measures approximately seventy square meters, the furniture is dusty, the walls are mottled, and there are some black and red stains.

“My head hurts, it feels like there is a hole in the back of my head.”

A faint musty smell wafts into his nose, and Han Fei could perceive everything around him.

Hearing, sight, smell, touch, all the senses in the game are the same as in the real world.

Sitting dumbly on the floor of the living room, Han Fei looks at the empty, cold, and deserted room that no one has lived in it for a long time.

“Is this my home in the game?”

“According to the game introduction, this is a healing Sims game, open world, no fixed gameplay.” Han Fei stands up.

Just as he is thinking about what to do next, Han Fei suddenly hears a knock on the door.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Across the living room, Han Fei opens the security door, the dim light of the voice-activated lamp entering the house, dispelling the coldness and loneliness.

“Young man, you're the new resident, right?”

A gentle voice comes from the corridor full of debris, and there stands an old woman with a kind face and silver hair.

“Today is the New Year, I invite you to come to my home and eat dumplings with us.”

Han Fei has never received an invitation from neighbors.

“Thank you, but I don't want to trouble you.” he is reluctant to interact too much with others.

“It is just my grandson and me at home, and I made so many dishes, which might be wasted if we couldn’t finish them.”

The old woman looks at Han Fei kindly, and her words make him feel warm.

“Dumplings have the meaning of reunion fortune, eating dumplings can get rid of a year of bad luck. It's not easy for you to live alone. Come and spend the New Year with us.”

The old woman repeatedly invites. Han Fei finally agrees.

“She may just be to guide me to carry out the plot mission.” Thinking in his heart, Han Fei picks up a bunch of keys on the coffee table in the living room and walks out of the door, supporting the old woman to walk downstairs.

“I’m Han Fei. What should I call you?”

“My name is Meng Shi. Just call me Meng.”

The corridor is piled with debris and garbage, the iron railings are rusty, and there are many small advertisements on the walls on both sides, as well as many children's graffiti.

They walk down one floor and stop at the door of room 1031.

The numbers on the wall painted with blood-red paint are already a little blurry. Meng Shi coughs lightly and opens the door.

The rich smell of meat wafts out, and Han Fei swallows his saliva and looks into the room.

Meng Shi does not turn on the light but lit a few candles on the dining table.

“The fuse blew, and probably because of the holiday, the repairman never comes."

“Grandma Meng, I can help you fix it, I used to change the fuse by myself.” Han Fei doesn't treat Meng Shi as a game NPC, perhaps because she makes him feel that she is a living person.

“You be careful, the spare fuse is in the drawer.” With that, she enters the kitchen.

Stepping onto the bench, Han Fei changes the fuse, turns on the switch, and the warm light illuminates the living room.

“Player ID 0000 attention, please! [G-Class Ordinary Mission: Replacement Fuse] has been completed. [Meng Shi's Friendliness: +5]. Harmonious neighborhood relations are the first step to a perfect life.”

A cold mechanical synthesis voice comes from the depths of Han Fei's mind: “The mission system has been activated. The newbie missions have been updated, which will help you understand this world as soon as possible."

Listening to the voice in his mind, an attribute panel appears in front of Han Fei, but before he could take a closer look, Meng Shi walks out of the kitchen with a pot of fish soup.

“Fresh fish soup, have a taste.” She puts the fish soup on the dining table with a smile. Then she walks to the bedroom and opens the iron lock on the door: “Coco, come out for dinner.”

Moments later, a five- or six-year-old boy walks out of the bedroom, his head keeps down as if he is having a tantrum with Meng Shi.

“You guys taste the soup first, there are a few dishes unprepared.” Meng Shi opens the refrigerator and takes out half of a frozen chicken.

The figure of Meng Shi in the kitchen makes Han Fei feel warm which he never experiences in the real world.

Han Fei picks up the soup spoon and respectively fills a bowl of fish soup for Coco and himself.

Suddenly, Coco holds the bowl aloft, and slams it on the ground before Han Fei reacts.

“I don't eat what took out of the coffin!”

“Poof!”

Hearing the kid's words, Han Fei sprays out directly.

Coffin?

Meng Shi hears the sound and quickly runs out of the kitchen: “Coco! What are you doing?”

“Everything you make is taken out of the coffin!” Coco looks up.

“What nonsense you are talking about!”

“The apartment manager said that only dead people will be put in coffins!” Coco runs into the bedroom.

“You come back!” Meng Shi also enters the bedroom.

“The naughty kid is terrible.” Finding a broom and dustpan behind the door, Han Fei is about to do the cleaning when he suddenly notices something.

Coco said that he would not eat what was taken out of the coffin, but Han Fei could see that all the food was taken out of the refrigerator.

And Coco also said that the apartment manager told him that only dead people would be put in the coffin.

Why does he take the refrigerator as a coffin? Could it be because there is a corpse hidden in their refrigerator?

Er?

Thinking of this, Han Fei is stunned. This doesn't seem like a proper plot for a healing game!

well, what if I say this is a healing game? All the seemingly irrational scenarios are for better healing, or depressing...
