“Kai! The Head Butler is looking for you! Apparently Lord Ferris wants to speak with you!” 

The Duke’s advisor wants to talk to me? 

Since it would be my first time entering the main house, I had to get myself cleaned up a bit. I returned to my dorm room and took out a new set of my uniform. Luckily this one was in a better shape than the rest of my uniforms. I washed up, got dressed and fixed my appearance a little. Once I looked presentable, I made my way outside the dorm building. 

The head butler stood there with his pocket watch. He snapped it close upon my arrival. 

“Let’s go.” He said sternly. 

No more words, in utter silence, we made our way to the main house. 

The distance was quite surprising. The main house was said to be in the middle of the estate and the servant’s quarters are located on the east of the main house. Although, for some reason, it felt like we had walked in a circle around the house and then made our way to our actual destination. 

Is he just messing with me? Is this revenge for the door handle or the cat? Why would he do this to both of us? Flexing your stamina old man? 

Either way, we had finally made it to the main house- NOT. This entire walk was just till the main gate!? No! I just can’t deal with rich people! 

My fourteen-year-old self is deficient in physical strength. 

“We are going to be entering the main house, maintain your best behaviour.” 

The silence was so comforting that him talking scared me. 

Right before me, the gates opened automatically, wait no, magically? Since technology doesn’t really exist right now… and surprisingly enough, the main house wasn’t an entire country away. 

Instead of walking in through the main door, the two of us walked around the six-floor residence. The main house was more spacious in its gardens as it had one bordering each side of the mansion. We went around the residence, and the butler stopped in front of the door all the way behind the house. 

“Robert!” A young girl’s voice came from the gardens behind us. In the distance, far from all the flower fields, there stood a little garden table with a beautiful white marble archway over it. It looked like a delicately crafted birdcage. However, the girl sitting inside the birdcage was way more dazzling. 

Her bright platinum blonde hair glimmered in the sunlight, her small face with delicate features carefully sculpted on her snow white skin. But the attention was more drawn towards the green gems that were in place of her eyes. She looked like a real fairy princess. 

Her eyes looked exactly like Nero’s, except Nero’s are more pretty. #Catlover

“Robert!” He called again. 

At the mere mention of his name, the old man with a nasty personality walked up to her and greeted her with proper etiquette and a warm smile. 

Warm!? More like chilling and creepy. 

According to servant etiquette and rules, a simple laundry boy like me is not allowed to greet the main family members, unless called for. And due to that, I had to remain at the door waiting for Sir Robert, so he could come and unlock it for me. 

The two of them were too far away for me to hear, but judging purely by their expression, it seemed like the young lady was asking the butler for a favour, but the butler refused it. Hence she looks extremely upset and sulky. 

I did not realise that I had been staring at the fairy-like princess. Our eyes briefly met in the midst of my staring and I instantly flicked my head away. I glanced back to find her still looking at me. 

The butler sighed immensely and then ushered at me to come over: 

“Kai!” 

It seems the princess was asking about me. I fixed myself up and walked up to the marble archway. The butler was glaring truck-samas at me.

The young lady’s beauty was utterly mesmerising.

“I greet her highness, Lady Irene.” And bow to a perfect 90 degree angle. I’m going to have back pain later in life from all these L-shaped bows. 

“Good Morning to you as well” my god, she even has a sweet voice. 

“Apologies, your highness, but why has my lady asked for this humble servant’s presence?” She doesn’t even know me, why would she call me over so nonchalantly? 

“I heard Ferris finds you interesting. A servant boy from an unknown background, but he can somehow read our country’s language.” 

Country’s language? What is she talking about?

The lady smiled at my dumbfounded expression. 

“And you don’t even know it yourself.” She giggled in a small voice. 

“I apologise to your highness.” Why is it so surprising for me to be able to read the county’s language? Come to think of it, Charlotte asked me about that too.

On the day I was tasked with the library, I started working on it immediately. Before all the drama with the basket and Jack happened, Charlotte visited the library in person. 

She came through the door and walked up to me sorting the books out. “It’s still strange how you know how to read the language.”

I found her statement to be odd and never really answered it. Besides, even before I, Ash, came around, Kai was in the library reading books. That means it’s not me but Kai who is able to read the native language. 

……..

“Well, Ferris got mad at me last time I delayed his guest, so I will have to bid you farewell.” The princess placed her cup of tea onto the saucer and stood up elegantly. 

“Thank you for your time, Your Highness, may blessings follow the princess of Aldelaine.” I maintained the L-shaped bow until she had left.

The Young Lady walked away from the garden. 

I swear I feel like an old man every single time I have to bow.

“Let’s go.” The butler spoke with no comments on my attitude. 

I guess I did a good job.
