As the wintry sun dipped below the horizon, casting the world in hues of purple and blue, JJael, Embia, and Clov reached the mouth of the cave. The gentle tiger entered first, moving with grace and caution to not startle the young human child nestled amidst the leaves. The cave's interior was dimly lit, with the last rays of sunlight casting soft glimmers through the opening.
Clov hopped in after JJael, her keen eyes immediately drawn to Aejjia's slumbering form. The sight of the child shivering in the cold tugged at her heartstrings, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility to help.
"Quick now, Ember," Clov urged the fox, "The child needs your warmth."
Embia complied, the warmth she radiated quickly filled the cave, creating a cozy sanctuary within the icy forest. Curiosity danced in Embia's eyes as she observed the child. "She's quite the funny-looking creature, ain't she?" she remarked with a hint of amusement.
JJael turned to Embia with a disapproving look. "Ember, that's not kind," he scolded gently.
Embia sighed, her fiery tail flickering in annoyance.
As she settled closer to Aejjia, the glow of her fiery aura cast a soft, warm light around them, filling the cave with an enchanting ambiance. Aejjia stirred in her sleep, her eyelids fluttering. The change in the light level caused the young girl to stir, but she settled back into her peaceful slumber.
With careful consideration, JJael approached Aejjia's woven basket and carefully poured the delicate contents onto the cave's floor. Holding the basket in his mouth, he carried it over to Clov, who was waiting with a nurturing expression. "Can you fill this with your berries? She will be hungry when she wakes," JJael requested.
Clov nodded eagerly, her foliage collar rustling gently as she began to pluck the berries that grew there. A wondrous sight unfolded before them, as whenever Clov removed a berry, a new one sprouted in its place. Within minutes, the basket was full, a delicious assortment of berries, and Clov offered it back to JJael. "Here you go," she said softly. "I hope she likes them."
"Thank you, my friend," JJael said with heartfelt gratitude as he took the berry-filled basket. He gently passed the basket next to the leaf bed and settled down, keeping a watchful eye on the sleeping child.
As the night settled around them, the trio took turns keeping vigil over Aejjia, ensuring she was comfortable and safe.
