Aejjia stirred from her slumber. As she rubbed her eyes and sat up, she was surprised to find JJael standing nearby, his majestic presence reassuring. By his side were two new companions.
JJael stepped forward with a warm smile. "Good morning, Aejjia," he greeted, "Allow me to introduce you to my dear companions. He nodded towards the fox."That is Embia."
Aejjia's eyes were full of curiosity as she watched the fox approach with playful energy. Embia flicked her tail in excitement, her eyes full of joy as she circled the young girl. Her lively movements expressed her affection and curiosity.
JJael chuckled, amused by the antics of the fiery creature. He turned his attention to the little rabbit that had made her way to Aejjia. "And the tiny one is Clov. She prepared those berries for you. She hopes you like them." He flicked his tail in the direction of the basket, sitting just in reach of her.
As she eyed the berries, her stomach rumbled. She eagerly grabbed a handful and popped them into her mouth. Her eyes widened in delight as their sweetness exploded on her tongue. "These are so good!"
Clov's ears twitched. The leaves around her neck trembled with a mix of shyness and pride. "I'm glad you like them," JJael expressed her bashful thoughts for the small critter. Embia and Clov didn't share his ability of telepathy so he shared their words for them.
Aejjia turned to JJael with genuine gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you, JJael, and thank you all," she said sincerely. "You saved me, and I'm so grateful for your kindness."
The animals beamed with pleasure, their hearts warmed by Aejjia's words. Embia couldn't resist her playful nature and flicked Aejjia's hand with her fiery tail, eliciting a giggle from the young girl.
As the morning sun enveloped the cave, JJael's gaze grew tender as he spoke to the young girl. "Aejjia, this mountain forest is not safe for you. I want to take you back home, where you'll be with your family and friends again."
A mix of emotions crossed Aejjia's face as she hesitated. Her thoughts lingered on the lord's manor where she worked, the harsh treatment she endured, and the feeling of not truly belonging there. She wished she didn't have to return.
Though she didn't voice her thoughts, JJael seemed to understand her inner turmoil. He sensed her reluctance and her wish to stay, but he also knew the risks of her remaining in the treacherous mountain forest.
After a moment, Aejjia reluctantly nodded. She didn't want to burden her new friends. "Okay, JJael, I'll go with you," she agreed, her voice soft with both sadness and resolve. "I know it's the right thing to do."
With her heart heavy, yet filled with gratitude for the friends she had found, Aejjia prepared to embark on the journey home.
