And Now a Word from Our Villain
The signal finally came. After years of waiting, that sweet, silky alert drifted through the castle. Those brats weren’t stealthy enough to hide from him forever. Deep in the realm ruled by rot and death, the Great Demon King sat atop his throne of bones and grinned a sharp, bloody grin as he gazed at the mirror showing him the Third Realm—Earth—with a hunger that could not be quenched. He leaned forward, the decomposing bones decorated in chunks of flesh and dried blood screaming with effort.
He had spent years trying to track down the ingrates who had escaped his grasp a mere eighteen years before. They were crafty little shits; he gave them that. But not crafty enough. Hiding their auras by putting themselves in human bodies and temporarily muting their bond so they couldn’t be found had almost ruined his plans—but that night, something awakened. Their powers grew, and the binding was reactivating—and that meant they could be tracked.
However, the Demon King was not so feeble-minded that he would attack without a plan. No, he had been preparing for this day. And he had a secret weapon—one unknown to the entire universe. And it was finally time to set him loose.
“Natasha!” His harsh voice boomed through the walls of the black castle, sharper than the spike-covered walls.
A woman appeared in front of him as if popping into existence, wearing a dress of black fire that burned around her. She looked to be in her thirties, with jaggedly defined features and piercing hazel eyes. Her blonde hair was twisted and pulled out of her face, but loose in the back where it fell in limp curls.
She knelt before him; eyes lowered in a sign of respect.
“You’re in luck, my sweet.” His voice wore the mask of kindness, but there was a harshness lying just beneath his tone. “We have located the child you lost. And at a summer camp, of all places!” He laughed, his voice carrying across the throne room. “We must act now, while they’re still weak. Lucky for us, we have a secret weapon.” The Demon king leaned back in his throne. “Rise.”
Natasha lifted her head and rose to her bare feet. “What will you have me do, my Lord?”
The Demon King grinned, a drop of blood dripping from his fanged teeth. He laced his boney fingers together, his sharp black nails reaching almost to his wrist. “I think it’s time to awaken my son.”
