Her bubble tea date with Patrick had Danai bouncing around. She was humming a tune that had been stuck in her head since they parted ways outside the cafe. Danai hummed as she crossed the street, past a group of high schoolers who eyed her with curiosity, and as she swiped her card to get back up to her office . She didn’t even mind the fact that she had to go back because she forgot her laptop earlier.
It wasn’t only the boba with Patrick that had made her that happy; it was his story about him and his mate. Danai sometimes wondered if she would ever get a love like the one she imagined when people told her about mating. She had been so focused on her career over the years that she didn’t give much thought to it. And the sad, dramatic tales some people told her about Omegas having to settle kept her from rushing anything. But, Patrick had found his love, and that gave her hope.
“Someone’s in a good mood.”
Danai stopped in her tracks when she noticed the tall, handsome alpha leaning against the wall beside her office door. He had hung his suit jacket in the crook of his elbow, and had the sleeves of his white dress shirt rolled up. Everitt’s tie was gone, now, and the few buttons undone below the collar allowed Danai a view of his collarbone. The shirt hugged his biceps, shoulders, and chest which showed off a hint of his muscles. She stared at his neck for a while before she remembered where they were, and that she was not happy with him.
Danai cleared her throat, “what are you doing here?”
They watched each other for a while, silent, as Everitt bounced off the wall to stand up straight. He opened his mouth a few times, then closed it as though he was second-guessing his thought process. Danai crossed her arms over her chest and raised her eyebrows. He was obviously there for something.
“What?” she finally huffed.
The inner corners of his eyebrows raised, and his mouth was slightly downturned. He tried to smile, or something, but his eyes told the opposite story.
Danai was sick of them standing there and staring at each other. She walked up to her door, unlocked it, then tried to step inside when she felt a strong hand on her arm. Danai turned to tell him off, but the look on his face stopped her.
“I… I’m…” Everitt stammered as he gazed into her eyes.
He eased his hold on her, but his touch remained in a lighter way. Everitt stepped into Danai’s bubble, and she could feel the heat radiating off of his body. Her eyes travelled to the exposed skin below his neck, again, and her breath caught in her throat. Danai sniffed subconsciously, and took in his scent, picking up strong notes of cedarwood, amber, and something that took her back to campfires and marshmallows.
Danai didn’t know why, but she stepped closer, now only inches away from him. Everitt trailed his hands up Danai’s arms as he leaned down into her. She could feel his breath on her cheek when he sighed, and her heart felt like it was going a million miles a minute.
“I shouldn’t have...” He sighed, his voice low and husky, “we should keep working on the interview...”
Danai had it in her mind to push him away when she placed her hands on his chest. Somehow, though, her hands gently outlined the hems of Everitt’s shirt before she started pulling him closer to her. At that point, she wasn’t in control of herself. Danai took in more of his scent, now feeling mesmerised by it. It wasn’t necessarily unique or special, but something about the aroma coming off of him was making her head spin.
Everitt gulped when his eyes found Danai’s fingers undoing the buttons of his shirt. Her hands went underneath, and she smiled to herself when she felt him shiver under her touch. Everitt’s chest was smoother than Danai expected, and she relished the feeling of his pecs tensing beneath her fingers tips. Danai watched Everitt’s expression as let out a low moan when she stroked his nipples. She bit her lip, and her mind was on nothing more than the man in front of her. When Everitt looked back down at Danai, she lifted her chin up towards him and he quickly took possession of her mouth.
She was forced to back up quickly from the weight of Everitt pressing into her, somehow able to find her couch in all the chaos. Danai was getting close to no oxygen with the heat and intensity of the kisses Everitt was giving her. He took hold of her waist with one hand, then used the other to explore her body. He stroked her tight curls, the ridge of her ear, and teased at her mating gland that was now pulsating with excitement. Everitt moulded their bodies together as he bit her lower lip, and Danai couldn’t help the whine that left her mouth when she felt his hardness press at her entrance. Even with their clothes still on, she could tell he had a lot to offer.
Everitt pulled back, his eyes now dark with desire as Danai sat back against her office couch. Just having him watch her made Danai feel excited, and her heart thumped as she waited to see what he would do next. Eventually, Everitt smirked, nodding towards her chest.
“Take it off,” he commanded.
Something about the way he said that, just expecting her to bend to his will, brought some of Danai’s senses back. She scoffed, and Everitt’s smirk fell.
“Why don’t you-” Danai started to say, but then his body was towering over her own.
“I said,” Everitt’s voice was low and much deeper now, “take. It. Off.”
If Danai didn’t respond, her omega would have. Everitt was appealing to a much deeper part of her, now, and it made her feel something strange. Without another word, Danai started to peel off her top.
Everitt smiled, “now-”
“Why does it-” Danai’s eyes widened when they met with the cleaner’s, “OH MY GOD, I’m so sorry!” The woman covered her eyes and turned around, disappearing into the hallway.
Danai jumped off the couch, shoving Everitt away from her before she grabbed her shirt. She didn’t even notice him topple over from the force while she tried to make herself look decent. Her heart pounded as she looked around her office. Now that she’d sobered up a bit from the sheer embarrassment, she was able to see how many things had been bumped into and knocked over by the two of them. Her coat hanger, along with her bag and a couple of umbrellas were on the ground in disarray. Her bag had been left not too far from the door, along with Everitt’s coat.
She finally looked over at Everitt, and he was staring at her while he buttoned up his shirt. Danai had no idea what to say, because she didn’t understand how that had happened so quickly. Just looking at his face infuriated her, now more than ever, because her body had some kind of strange attraction to him. The man was egotistical, insensitive, and--now she knew--domineering. Just the thought of him telling her what to do not too long before made her want to kick him out.
That wasn’t necessary, it seemed, because Everitt was leaving before Danai could string together some kind of something to say. He stood by the door, eyes focused on her, and it seemed like he was gonna say something. Danai held her breath, but Everitt just sighed then walked away.
She stood in the middle of her office, dazed, confused, and feeling oddly exposed.
“What...?” Was all she managed to say to herself, or whoever the hell was listening.
