In the throne room of a demon king's castle, a lone girl stands atop the body of the wicked demon king she has defeated in a battle between good and evil. However, the girl's facial expression reveals no trace of joy, sadness, or any of the emotions one would expect to feel after the battle... only the relentless expression of boredom.
"Sigh," with this, the count of lives will be 999 lives: 349 righteous lives, 600 evil lives, and 50 ordinary lives. After the girl finished the sentence, she stabbed herself in the heart to die... as usual. In truth, she doesn't even know if she is a girl or a boy because she has lost the memories of her original life. All she remembers is waking up in the body of a young child named Haimen Shing. Since then, every time he dies, he transfers to another world, retaining his memories from previous lives, except for his original life. He has already lived 999 lives. Initially, he lived to become a hero of that world, but then he wanted immortality to escape the suffering of starting anew as a different person in another world. After a while, he only wanted to live a simple and ordinary life like an insignificant character. However, every time he obtains a bit of happiness and peace, he starts hearing hallucinations and seeing foggy memories, causing him to suffer intense pain that ultimately kills him, as he had attempted. After gaining hope for a cure and repeatedly failing in every life, he found it all monotonous and decided to always become the villain, hoping to find some pleasure in his mundane existence. And so, this person plays a game of chance to see whether he will destroy the world or save it...
In one of the poor alleys of a kingdom whose name does not matter, an old man opened his eyes while lying among the garbage. He coldly stared at the sky for a moment before standing up and starting to walk. He entered the Adventurer's Guild and registered there, despite his low ranking. Although he held a D rank, he took on a mission of rank S. The old man went to the monster forest and simply started killing monsters. When night fell, the old man looked at the moon while sitting on a mountain of corpses, as if deeply contemplating. He raised his right hand and noticed the tattoo on it. This tattoo is the only thing that keeps this old man sane. He obtained it at some point during his 700th life, and since then, he has carried it with him in every world and body he wakes up in. Is it linked to his soul? Why did it suddenly appear like this? Is it his deliverance from this foolish curse? He doesn't know the answer, but he feels like he has no other choice but to move forward. After the old man killed all those dangerous monsters, he went to the capital and discovered that the evil threatening this world was a legendary dragon feared by all. Upon receiving this information, he embarked on a three-month journey to the farthest continent, where he found the dragon's cave and raided it. For eight days and nights, the old man fought the dragon. In the end, after sacrificing his own life, he managed to kill the dragon. The brave hero who defeated evil and became a symbol of humanity in that world was nothing more than a traveler who felt bored but, of course, no one knew about this.
"This is life number 1000. Will I finally find some relief from all this crap? Damn, I'll go mad if nothing changes," the boy muttered. After finishing his thoughts, this person opened his eyes to find a white ceiling. He looked around to discover that he was in the hospital. Is this another new life? Yes, that's what it seems. Before the teenage boy could become frustrated, he suddenly felt the presence of something new—a sensation he had never experienced in his previous lives: magic, mana, spiritual energy, supernatural abilities, all types of energy. Yet, he didn't feel any of them!
A world without supernatural things? This is the first time the boy finds himself in such a world. Without delay, he quickly raised his right hand to find that the tattoo had changed its shape.
"It has changed! Something is different," the boy exclaimed.
Initially, the tattoo was just intertwining black lines and circles, but now it had become larger and extended in the shape resembling a broken sword. The boy paused for a moment, observing the new shape of the tattoo. He didn't feel genuine joy, but he felt some reassurance that his long wait hadn't been in vain. However, he soon frowned and thought, "Does this mean I have to go through a thousand more lives for the tattoo to change again? Maybe two thousand or more? Can the tattoo even rid me of this nonsense? Will it fundamentally change?"
Many questions flooded the boy's mind without finding answers. While lost in his thoughts, the door to his room opened, and a girl appeared at the doorway. As their eyes met, the girl was initially surprised before revealing a warm smile and saying, "Do you feel better, brother?"
