Leas drove to the first gas station on the way to Dublin. Although he did need to top off on fuel, he was most concerned about Idonea’s car sickness. She has been gone in the bathroom for a long time. Long enough for him to finish topping off his grand Mr. Two, he became restless from the wait, so he sauntered on over to the store inside to keep him busy. After all, Idonea might not like it if he is at the bathroom door spouting whatever sweet thing he can think of at the spot.
It would be cute to see her get flustered all over, especially when it is a public bathroom, and she is probably not the only one in there.
Not today.
“Welcome, sir! Let me know if ye need anythin’” There was a young woman at the counter, all blushing and bright-eyed at the sight of him. Typical reaction he receives in the daily.
“Not yet. Thank you.” He flashed her the careful platonic smile, one he thinks shouldn’t make a girl swoon. Leas was terribly wrong for the 900th time this week. She was gushing at him from her station while he searched through the aisles.
Nothing he saw was worth the hassle for him or forced the boredom out of him. He was hoping he would find something to give to Idonea to cheer her up. She was already turning her nose up earlier at the suggestion he made about getting her some medicine. If not medicine, maybe she likes something sweet and cold.
There was a vending machine with a huge sign written in red cursive ‘Slushee’. The machine in question had six different swirling containers filled with flavored colored crushed ice. The colors he saw were purple, red, yellow, green, blue, and pink. An exciting plan unearths itself in his head, and he was in front of the machine in a second. Two cups pulled out of row; it is time to make a masterpiece!
An odd 10 minutes passed, and he returned to Mr. Two with two colorfully filled cups of frozen treats. One filled with mostly reds, with pinks and yellow layered carefully within the reddened ice. The other is mostly blue, with green and purple stripping the mass of blue. He was rather proud of his creations, so proud that when he saw Idonea waiting beside the car he was offering the red one to her.
“My sweet Idonea~! I got a treat for you!” He was way more excited than normal, and really caused Idonea to pause instead of taking the drink from him.
“What are you planning?” Idonea glowered at the drinks, upon further inspection she later gaped then. Blinking her amber orbs, “That is what you have been doing this whole time?”
“Yep!” Leas didn’t lose his cheerfulness, “I wanted to get you something to help with your car sickness.”
Idonea curved her pink lips down as if she was ready to tell him that it wasn’t needed. The posturing and the dimming of her eyes was always a sign that she was about to decline.
Leas was just as ready to insist if she didn’t choose to shock him today. She grabbed the reddened drink from him and started slurping at the straw, “I wouldn’t want to force you to have a brain freeze drinking both.”
She’s…
“Haha!” Leas could feel the skin on his cheek warm, he kept his confident smile. He was more than shaken in his core by that cute reluctant statement of hers, “You have a funny way of saying that you liked the gesture.”
That had her fluster, his favorite side of her, moving to the other side of Mr.Two and trying to open the door with one hand. “Enough! We gotta go!”
She’s so cute.
“Alright~!” Leas playfully grinned, shuffling out the keys in his jean pocket and unlocking the doors. They entered the vehicle and he was back driving Mr.Two off the gas station and towards Dublin.
Mere minutes later….
“OW!” Idonea yelped, touching her temples with her fingertips.
“Did you just get a brain freeze!?” Leas was already losing the battle to hold back a laugh.
“No!” Idonea huffs, turning her face back towards the window. She placed the half full cup of slushee on the cupholder, rubbing the ache on her temple.
“You did!? Hahaha!”
“Leas…”
