What I did was Elemental Assimilation, right?
Wasn't element Assimilation hard to achieve in the first place?
No, if that's easy to achieve what's even the use for chanting and magical formulas?
Concentrating, shaping, feeling, and visualization.
That was basically what I did.
In that case, isn't incantation basically worthless for me?
Well, maybe that would do me better as I didn't have to memorize long-ass chants just for me to use spells.
"Hmm"
Maybe incantation's just a trigger for someone who doesn't have that much influence on nature?
Mana being the link for yourself, that was probably it.
Yeah, it might be something like that.
It's just like a water tube; without the tube, no water would stream on it as it would only spread to various spaces.
But as I see it, incantation would do more spells than Elemental Assimilation.
To explain it simply, instead of you concentrating hard on feeling the process wouldn't it be more beneficial for mages to just chant quickly?
Needless to say, magic used for attacks needs to be quicker.
"Ah!"
Is it because of instinct and memory?
For example for writers, they don't need something a guide when writing a story because they understand the flow by instinctual memory.
It was already engraved in their minds and muscles on how the story would go.
"So, this was it"
I quickly flipped through the mage guide textbook, but I found nothing about Elemental Assimilation, except for its basic information.
But, that's weird.
For me who was just trying to cast simple spells, succeeding in Elemental Assimilation was easier than what I read.
Maybe I'm just better?
That means I'm not some ordinary person, right?
Isn't that amazing?
HAHAHA, I'm getting excited.
"Ah wait, no calm down"
It might just be a fluke, getting proud of something you just done for a single time doesn't mean you can always do it.
In the worse case having been boastful would only embarrass you in the future.
Yeah, I need to be humble, the most important thing is to not think of me as something better than others.
Good, based on my spell earlier I just need to imitate the feeling again to succeed, then with it, I can practice Elemental Assimilation repeatedly.
"Well, let's do that again"
But when I tried raising my hand again, I felt a little sluggish.
Weird.
Mana exhaustion?
Is it because I'm using my brain too much?
No, I still feel fine in my head.
"Mana exhaustion!"
God, some having to fire only two shots of beginner magic spells enough to tire me out? damn, I'm weak.
Pushing my sluggish body aside and casting the beginner spell with a chant, I tried.
But in the end, I really fainted.
"Huh?"
"Luis! What are you doing there with wet clothes, did you play with water again? I swear you just like your father, so carefree."
When I woke up, I was treated as if I was playing with water while reading a book.
Well, better than them finding out their son was already playing with magic at this young age.
But seriously, isn't my mana capacity too little?
Even though I have both mages for a parent?
In any case, I shouldn't laze around since I only have a mouthful of mana.
*Sigh*
The next day, I fired two more water bullets before fainting again.
"Hah, how much do I need to do this just to get a decent amount of mana pool"
Based on my experience, if I tried to shoot another four spells after casting four earlier that would make my current shots eight, testing my hypothesis I tried casting four more and eventually fainted.
"Huh?"
Doesn't that make training a lot easier?
If my expectations are correct, I should be able to cast sixteen spells right now before I faint again.
So, my hunch was right, having cast spells and exhausting my mana I can increase my mana pool capacity two times compared to the other day.
Is it because I was casting it through Elemental Assimilation that it was able to increase two times?
Or was it because I completely exhausted my mana pool that It was possible?
I don't get it.
Maybe if try casting sixteen spells with the chanting method I'll get a different result tomorrow.
It's the next day.
The number of spells I can chant is still doubled even with the chanting method.
Thirty-two times.
Another day passed.
Sixty-four times.
"Whoa!"
Doesn't that mean if I train for years, I would be strong?
So, is it something related to a child's body still being in the middle of growing that I can increase my mana pool two times?
When casting magic during toddlerhood, the maximum value of the mana pool can be increased two times as long as its depleted, something like that?
Or is it because I'm special?
Considering I can use Elemental Assimilation easily it might be also because of that.
Since I can't really determine the answer right now, there's only one thing to do.
Train as hard as possible before I become a teenager.
From the next day onwards, I tried depleting my mana to its brink every day.
At the same time, every day I depleted my mana my capacity increased two times.
As I experienced during my training having Elemental Assimilation was a lot easier compared to the long ass chanting.
Anyway, my target was to hit full mastery of beginner's magic.
As the name suggests beginner magic is the lowest rank of magic achievable by mages.
Any spell that is a bullet was classified as a beginner's magic, water and fire was considered one of the popular ones due to being easy to cast.
There are seven ranks of magic known to mages.
Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, advanced, master, Saint, and Emperor.
I read in a book that an average mage can improve their magic rank up until Advanced rank, while the typical superordinary people can go up until Intermediate.
Anything up to that point can be considered peak mages as they earn a title based on their most compatible attribute.
Those people can be called, Fire-Master, Fire-Saint, and the Flame-Emperor.
Emperor rank.
Now that piqued my interest a little.
"Flame-Emperor Luis"
Hmm, not bad.
Say, I'm quite curious about how one can attain the emperor's rank.
Is there something like a test?
Do you need to prove your loyalty to a certain kingdom? something like that.
But when searching the guidebook, what I only found was the wind, water, fire, and earth guide system, up to the advanced system.
Why isn't there something for master rank and above?
Well, better not think too much about it, as I can't even launch my spell properly.
So, trying once again, I cast a normal water bullet under Elemental Assimilation.
*Drip*
"…"
Once again
*Drip*
"…"
Once again
*Drip*
"…"
!!!
Is this spell mocking me?
Why doesn't it work?
Isn't the spell supposed to lunge forward?
WHY!!!
*Sigh*
Calm down.
Better not to cause a rampage.
Checking the book again, it is written that.
"Upon successful activation, one spell should automatically shoot where the mage had aimed"
It used the word, "Successful"
So, to simplify, my spell didn't successfully activate.
Why? Is there something I'm skipping?
Ahh!
The book said something about spell size and speed.
Could it be that I wasn't determining the size and speed of the spell that it always ended in failure?
Well, to be fair how do you even adjust the spell size and speed?
Hmm… I don't get how, but let's just try.
Recalling the feeling of water, I stretched out my hand.
*Appear*
First, I'll adjust its speed, I'm going to skip adjusting its size for safety reasons.
Now, how do I increase its speed?
Perhaps I should add more mana?
"Oh!"
"Oh…"
*Drip*
It still fell.
I had managed to make it larger by adding more mana, but still couldn't make it shoot out of my hands.
After that, I tried many methods on how I could adjust its speed.
I tried limiting the mana, making it lighter.
I created two water bullets and tried throwing it away by force.
I tried imagining I was pooping just so I could launch it forward.
But, still ended in failure.
All I could do was adjust the size and strength of the spell, but failed in launching it.
I also tried to use a fire spell, but that ended in burning I few planks of wood.
It was also the same for the other elements, all I could do was adjust the spell size and strength but still failed in launching it forward.
"Hmmm…"
