"It's time to try that dagger," Jack said.
Jack summoned the Truth Dagger and stared at it for a while in a peculiar way. The idea behind cutting through lies and revealing the truth was fascinating to him, to the extent that he imagined this ability as a powerful tool that could distort the truth and turn it into lies. For instance, saying that he had captured someone and was interrogating them; this dagger would be a real blessing.
Jack pondered the ability of the dagger, but he hadn't tested it yet. Therefore, it was time to verify its potential. By considering the most suitable place for the experiment, Jack went to the police station where he tackled one of the officers and assumed his identity. This officer was originally tasked with interrogating a suspect involved in a robbery, making him a perfect candidate for the test.
Jack took the man's identification papers and entered the room with him. He noticed that the man was somewhat nervous. Sitting in front of him, Jack started flipping through the papers slowly while maintaining a cold and serious expression on his face.
"This man's name is Sam. He was born in County B of this state, and he cames all the way to County C for suspicious activities related to theft. He's around thirty years old, with no family except elderly parents living in County A. He lives alone in an old house with high rent, and the analysis suggests he hasn't eaten in a while. Classic thief background. Well, let's start the experiment."
With that, Jack, the man with the brown mustache, looked at the suspect and opened his mouth, asking, "Do you know why you're here?"
"No, sir, I have no idea why I was arrested," the man replied.
"Oh, the cold sweat on your face tells me you're really bad at lying, even without using the dagger," Jack commented. He then whispered, "Activate the Truth Dagger."
The dagger, in its physical state, was a sharp and formidable weapon for combat. However, when its power was activated, it took on a ghostly and transparent appearance, as if it were on the verge of disappearing. At that moment, Jack asked the man the same question again.
"Are you lying?" Jack inquired.
"O-of course no , sir. I really don't know why I am here."
"Hmm? I wonder why the dagger didn't work. Was there a specific condition for it?"
Then Jack thought to himself, "Oh, system, how do I use this dagger?"
The system responded as a voice inside his head, "The usage method: simply direct it at the living being and cut the chain of its lies (literally)."
"Ah, I see. But what does 'literally' mean in parentheses? Anyway, I'll give it a try."
Jack took his hand out of his pocket and said, "Do you see that I'm carrying anything?"
"Ah? Oh no... no, sir, I don't see anything."
"Good," Jack then repeated his question, "Do you know the reason for your presence here?"
The man became angry and started to say, "As I told you, I don't—"
But then he stopped talking, and his eyes became hollow as if his soul had left his body.
"Well, strange? Wait, after I cut him with the dagger, he remained in this shocked state, which makes me feel strange. System, explain this."
"The user successfully utilized the unique dagger's ability, and now he can command the target to reveal the truth."
Jack looked at the man and asked, "Are you the thief?"
"Yes," the man quickly replied, making Jack doubt the success of the ability. So he added something else, "You are now mute, and you only know the sign language of Psiko." To his astonishment, the man actually stopped talking and started using Psiko sign language, a language not from this world! But this man had mastered it!
"This..." Jack mumbled to himself before saying, "System, is there no limit to the extent of this ability? Can I penetrate time and space with it?"
"Yes," the system replied concisely, which made Jack feel extremely excited.
Jack's thoughts raced as he imagined all the things he could do with this ability and, most importantly, what he could achieve using the system! It was terrifying on a whole other level, surpassing all the worlds he had experienced in his reincarnations.
"Officer, have you finished?" a strange voice came out of Jack, interrupting his thoughts, which annoyed him. He simply replied, "Yes, I will complete all the procedures soon." Then he looked back at the man and said cheerfully, "You... after ten minutes, you will have a heart attack and die."
"Yes," the man replied in Psiko
With that, Jack left the police station in extreme excitement, thinking, "Very powerful and extremely dangerous. No matter who created this system, I must be more cautious. Will it kill me one day without me realizing it? Or will it erase the essence of my soul from existence?" Jack held his heart, remembering that terrifying feeling of his soul being eaten away by the tattoo, and he smiled madly, thinking, "Finally, the ultimate pleasure!"
