Jacob's Unpredictable Day
Jacob's Unpredictable Day
Aug 16, 2023
The days continued to pass, and Lily continued to live alongside Jacob, who seemed to be tired of her irrational and selfish behavior. One day, Jacob decided to visit Lily's house to try to talk to her mother. He hoped to persuade her to convince Lily to come back home. This way, he could focus more on his work and enjoy the peace in his own house. Especially after the ongoing arguments between Lily and Youssef, who couldn't seem to stop quarreling every time their paths crossed, behaving like children.
On a Sunday morning, a day of rest, Jacob decided to visit Lily's house after visiting his own family who lived nearby. He woke up early, hoping to spend his day in peace. After taking a shower, he put on his clothes in a casual manner. He tied his hair back while standing in front of the mirror. He wore a long black shirt with ornate sleeves, paired with loose jeans and white sneakers.
After a brief moment of contemplation in front of the mirror, Jacob left his room and headed toward the room where Lily slept. He checked on her and found her sleeping like an angel.
He mumbled, "If only you were like this after waking up as well."
Then he retraced his steps and made his way to the kitchen. He grabbed an apple and left the house with his usual demeanor - cold and composed as if he were about to eliminate someone.
As Jacob stepped outside, the morning sun greeted him with its warm embrace. He took a bite of the apple as he strolled down the street, lost in thought. The peacefulness of the morning contrasted with the chaos that seemed to follow him whenever Lily was around.
After a few steps and as Jacob finished his apple, he headed towards his car. He got into his car and started driving, moving away towards his house, which is where his parents live, and it's also neighboring Lily's house at the same time. Jacob enjoyed the cool breeze that filled the air, while his car vibrated with Western rock music playing, swaying along as he drove gently.
Finally, his car lined up in front of a small villa where Jacob's parents lived.
Jacob got out of the car, heading towards his home, which he seemed to have not visited for a while.
He wanted to open the door to enter, but he collided with the fact that the door lock had been changed.
Jacob sighed in annoyance, saying, "Are you really doing this to me now? It's just been fifteen days... Ah..."
He started calling out gently from outside, "Heeey... Opeeen up..."
His voice was barely audible, and he turned around to see if anyone was nearby.
Was there someone so that they wouldn't see him shouting?
After confirming no one was around, he shouted loudly, "I'm sooorrrry... Commmme ooon..."
The atmosphere momentarily quieted down. After a while, the door to his house opened.
A middle-aged woman stood by the door, with youthful features adorning her face.
She observed Jacob, who seemed embarrassed by his shouting.
Jacob spoke gently, "Mom, won't you stop doing this every time...?"
The woman spoke, "This is what you deserve. You don't even ask about your mother. Am I dead?"
Jacob smiled gently, kissed her cheeks, and answered, "I'm really sorry... I won't do it again... I promise."
She smiled back, and they entered the house together.
Jacob entered the house with his mother, whispering and exchanging laughs.
They made their way to the living room, where Jacob's father sat calmly having his breakfast.
Jacob noticed his father and quickly moved towards him, embracing him gently amidst their laughter.
His father, who bore some resemblance to Jacob in his features, laughed heartily as he was hugged.
He, in turn, held Jacob's hand and reciprocated the embrace.
Then, he sat at the table to join them for breakfast.
Jacob's father spoke, "If you were a bit late returning home, your mother would have forced me to move."
He chuckled, while Jacob wore a surprised expression, saying,
"Really, Mom? Am I your son or did you pick me up from the street...?"
His mother playfully shook her head while taking a bite of an apple, indicating a nonchalant shrug.
Meanwhile, Jacob began his breakfast and spoke at the same time,
"I thought I'd find peace here, but even Mom wants to send me away..."
His expression turned into that of a sad child, and his mother inquired,
"I guess Lily, as usual, isn't sparing you from her troubles."
She then burst into laughter, which was echoed by Jacob's father, as they both shared a lighthearted moment. Jacob continued, "Aah... Mom, you have no idea. My neighbor... I don't know why, but both he and Lily are constantly in conflict. They're like cat and mouse. Look..."
He gestured towards the window, where Lily's house was visible,
"They seem relaxed now, while I'm the one suffering. That family is crazier than ever. Why do they leave their daughter with me when she has her own place, huh?"
His father responded, "Because you're the one who can handle her the most, after all."
A gentle smile formed on Jacob's face, and then quickly vanished. He mumbled, "I just want my own space..."
He ate his breakfast with determination, while his parents sat beside him, smiling gently, knowing very well that he cared deeply for Lily, perhaps even more than her own family did. He might be the one who understood her the best, which was why she was always by his side, like a child, seemingly unaffected by the passage of time, as if she hadn't grown up since their childhood days.
Lily, a 25-year-old graduate in Management and Administration from a wealthy family, presents a challenging demeanor and rejects the job market. Her sole focus lies in reentering academia to specialize in psychological sciences. She shares a deep bond with her friend Jacob, a 26-year-old introvert who manages a tourism company. Having grown up together, Lily finds herself ousted from her family home due to the repercussions of attending college classes without official enrollment, causing significant distress. Determined to forge her path, Lily chooses to reside with Jacob. Fate takes a turn when Jacob becomes captivated by a stunning woman and resolves to make her his own. Unsure of his next move, he turns to Lily for guidance. To make the woman fall in love with her dear friend, Lily must work alongside her at the same company, all while pursuing her studies at the esteemed College of Psychological Medicine. The question lingers: what adventures await Lily and Jacob in the days to come?
