I had a book in my palm as I knocked on the door in front of me, the book had a pink coloured thick cover, ‘My diary' was the word written on the cover of the book. “Who's there?” A voice behind the door whispered. “Its Andrew” I replied. The door opened, I walked into the apartment, Susan's apartment. “How are you feeling today?” I asked. “Am fine,” Susan replied with a flash of smile on her face that disappeared the next second. I pulled her in, wrapped my arms around her. Tears started running down her face, her breathing rhythm changed. After some seconds, she was crying like a baby. The pain in her voice was chilling. “I got something for you” I said. “What’s that?” Susan asked while wiping the tears off her face. I handed her the book I was holding “Write down your thoughts here, the things you wouldn’t want other people to hear. Pour out your heart into this book. I think it’ll help.. am so sorry, Susan” “Thank you, am okay now” Susan replied. “What did you eat?” I asked as I walked to her kitchen. “Nothing yet,” Susan replied. I popped a pack of spaghetti and prepared it. I dished out the spaghetti and served one plate to Susan, while the other plate sat right in front of me. Susan just stared at her food, her arm didn’t move an inch.
“If you eat, I’ll show you something interesting, something that will blow you away.”
“What’s that?”
“I can’t tell you unless you eat”
“I’ll eat later”
“Then I’ll show you later”
Susan picked up the spoon and started eating. Fifteen minutes later we were done with the food, I picked up the plates and walked to the kitchen to wash them. I placed the washed dishes in the plate rack. “Show me the interesting stuff” Susan said. I pulled out my phone from my pocket, “Its an anime I discovered, One piece, it’s very interesting”
“ So.... you tricked my into believing that you had something amazing.”
“It’s not a trick, one piece is really amazing"
I grabbed her hand, ran to the bed then I let go as I jumped into the bed. Susan lay right beside me “It won’t disappoint” I winked. Two hours later, Susan was fast asleep. She was tired, I got up and covered her with the blanket on the bed. I then walked to the parlour and spent the night on the cushion.
My sleep was cut short by a knock on the front door, I wiped my face with my palm and walked to the door. I opened the door, a tall skinny blonde man with glasses was standing right outside.
“Who are you?” The man asked.
“I should be asking you that, who are you?” I replied.
“Did you do anything to my niece?!” The man yelled.
“Your niece.. what’s her name?”
“Susan!” the man yelled as he pushed me out of his way, barging right into the apartment.
“Uncle Aaron!” Susan exclaimed, she looked so surprised, the noise wokeher too. “Who’s this person? What is the meaning of this? What is he doing here?! Your parents just died and you are already inviting boys over into the house. Is this how you were trained!” The man screamed on top of his voice. “Umm I don’t think you should be saying that to her sir, that is way out of line.” I said to the man. “Shut up and get out of this house now!” The man yelled. “Andrew is my friend and I want him to stay, and it’s not what you think uncle.” Susan said. “Susan you know how much I care about you, I just want to watch over you and take care of you since your parents is no more. A young person like you shouldn’t be staying alone.” The man said. “Thank you sir, but I am old enough to take care of myself” Susan replied. The man walked closer to Susan and placed his hand on her shoulder “That is what you think, but as an adult, I am obliged to do this. I came to tell you that I will be moving in after the burial.” Susan's jaw dropped, “What? No sir, don’t, am okay" Susan said as she took some few steps back. “I am the adult, so your opinion is not needed. This is what’s best for you, you will thank me later.” The man walked out of the house the moment he finished talking. I looked at Susan, her hand was vibrating, she was scared. Susan sat on the floor, bent her head over and started crying.
After some hours passed, I felt that I still needed to stay with Susan for a while. There was a knock on the door, “Susan!” A voice from outside the door yelled. I recognized the voice, it was Kelvin's. I walked to the door and opened it. Kelvin lifted his eyebrow the moment he saw me, his eyes widened.
“You spent the night here?!” he asked.
“Yeah..”
“Seriously?! Bad guy... how’s Susan?”
“She's inside.”
Kelvin entered the apartment, walked straight to Susan’s room. He knocked, then he entered into the room. After a while he walked out, “She seems okay, am happy" Kelvin said. I nodded to approve his words “By the way, Susan said I should call you.” Kelvin said. “Okay,” I replied. Walking into Susan's room, it was dark, she was sitting on the bed.
“Andrew, can you tell Kelvin nothing about what happened today? It will take his sleep from him”
“Sure, but why were you scared of that man? Isn’t he your uncle?”
“He has been acting strange towards me”
“Strange? How?”
“He's always looking for ways to touch me. I don’t feel safe around him.”
“Who else did you talk to about this?”
“Its just you, he’s my only relative.”
“Then that man can’t stay with you, I have a plan.”
“What plan?”
