Sam rapidly replied to the email saying that she was interested, and they scheduled an interview time. Then, before her free period was over, she sent a quick text over to her parents explaining what just happened.
Sam didn't think much about it during the rest of the school day. She was one of those people who effortlessly got A pluses without even studying at all. In fact, she was in 12th grade when she should be in 10th because of those skills. Having a photographic memory certainly helped, but that wasn't all. Both her parents were basically geniuses when they'd been young, and that's probably where she got those skills from.
Meanwhile, at Rodrigo Corps. United (5 minutes ago):
"Boss, we found a candidate for your daughter."
"Send me a copy of the form they filled out and run a background check. But first, tell me, is it a female or a male?"
"It's a female, sir."
"Huh, that's interesting. Well, continue with your work Cedric, and send her an email asking for an interview."
"Wait, right now, sir? She only just submitted the form, and we haven't even done the necessary background checks yet."
"Are you questioning me, Cedric? Do as I say, we can always reject her after the interview if she's not suitable."
"N-no, sir, sorry, I'll get on with it right away."
Robert Rodrigo sighed as he walked back to his office. Good bodyguards who were suitable for his daughter were so hard to find these days.
He sat on the couch in his office and checked his phone. Cedric had forwarded a copy of the form to him.
As he looked over it, a smile formed on his lips. She was perfect. He'll try to make her sign a 3 year contract, or maybe even a 5 year one! He didn't want her to quit as well. And although she wasn't experienced as a bodyguard, her fighting skills were definitely good enough.
Then, a call interrupted his thoughts. It was Cedric. He accepted it and said, "Yes, Cedric?"
"Sir, her background is clean, there's nothing to worry about. She also replied to the email, is 5 pm tomorrow a good time for the interview?"
"Yes, I'm free during that time. Tell her to come to the company and meet me in my office at that time tomorrow."
"Yes, sir."
As he hung up, a smug grin remained on his face. Things were going well. He was finally going to find a permanent bodyguard for Bethany.
Back to Sam:
The bell rung, signifying the end of school. Sam gathered her things and walked out, to where her parents usually waited for her. As she climbed into the car, her parents started bombing her with questions.
"When's the interview?"
"What did you write on the form?"
"Did they really respond only minutes after you submitted your application?"
"What else did the email say?"
Sam patiently waited till they were out of concerns and questions, before saying, "The interview is scheduled to be tomorrow at 5 pm, with Mr. Robert Rodrigo himself at his office at Rodrigo Corps. United."
Her parents fussed over her for the whole car ride and the whole evening.
After school the next day, they took her to a suit shop to buy something suitable for the interview.
They wanted her to make a good impression, despite Sam's protesting. Sam thought that there was no point, they didn't care how rich you were, and that if she did make it in they had uniforms, they would give her a suit. But being the parents they were, her parents still insisted anyway.
That's how they ended up buying a $500 suit which Sam would probably only wear once. They weren't extremely wealthy or anything, so that showed how much her parents cared about her.
Wearing her new suit, her parents dropped Sam off at the front of the company building. During the whole car ride, they'd been grilling her on interview questions and had told her to not sign any contracts without contacting them.
When Sam walked into the building, a lanky man wearing a collared shirt and a black tie was there waiting for her.
He politely asked, "Excuse me, you must be Samantha Johnson, here for the interview, right?"
"Yes, that would be me, although I prefer to go by Sam. Mr. Rodrigo sent you to take me to his office right?"
"Yes miss, I'm Cedric Cullingworth, but you may address me as Cedric. Now please follow me."
Sam followed Cedric into the elevator, fidgeting nervously with her tie. Cedric noticed and asked, "Are you feeling nervous?"
"Sort of. I never even went to an interview before, or had an official job. There must be loads of competitors who also want this job, aren't there?" Sam seemed unsure of herself.
Cedric reassured her, "Don't worry, you're currently our top candidate. I'm sure you'll do fine."
"Thanks,"
They'd arrived now, and Cedric pointed to the door with a big shiny plaque on it in front of them.
