The introduction of Flogur

Blouthu

Blouthu

Sep 04, 2023

Blouthu is the capital of Flogur, the city is large, so large its considered its own region. The walls around Blouthu are shaped in a triangle. The tip is poiting out to see (south), and the flat side is along the land (north). Each corner has a large tower where the walls meet, and four shorter towers spaced between each large tower, twelve small towers, thats fifteen towers in total. The wall is 3,218 meters high (or roughly two miles), the  small towers are 4,828 meters high (roughly three miles), The large towers are 16,093 meters high (ten miles). So, if all citizens were ten feet tall (which there not) it would take 1,560 people to reach the same hight as the walls, and 5,280 people to reach the hight of the main towers. The tower pointing south gose over a narrow spot, abought twenty feet wide, only passible by small boat. The bay way, as the Flogosians call it (Flogosian: a term meaning native to the kingdom of Flogur) has a spiked beam that is refured to as a barge, which can be raised or lowered for access, There are also portcullis gates on the outside of the wall and the inside of the wall.
The main towers are fifty-five feet in circumference. The two main land towers are designed the same. With sturdy oak doors on the inside of the wall, to access the towers. Six floors, and periodic arrow slots, wide enough for an archer on the inside to stand & shoot, narrow enough on the outside for them to stay safe. The first floor is weapon storage, and maintenance storage. The second floor is ground troop barracks. Next is personal armory & repair stop. Then the troop division's kitchens. On floor five you have tower guard barracks. Floor six is upper weaponry, a rain barrel that collects water, they also keep food supplies here. (the floors have there own interior floors, its just easier for the guards to break into sections of six).
Break for a snack.
The roof is flat with parapet going all the way aroun it. Parapet are the square stones that they stand be hind on castle walls. Hopefully you know what im talking abought. Up here there is a large catapult, and standig spots for the look out. The third tower is built similarly to the other two, from floor three to the roof it's the same, this tower also has the arrow slots, but instead of a catapult on the roof, it have a massive cross bow.

The cross bow is designed for two men to load and one man to aim and fire, they call it The Bey man. Bey man has three diferent types of bolts. It can shoot two feet bolts, wich are pretty standard, strong shafts with barbed ends, capable of easily smashing the keel of enemie boats. The second is a two component one, first you shoot a bolt with an oil filled bladder made to burst on impact, the oil will soak wherever you fired, then you shoot it with a flaming bolt (there is a newer version, which is more dangerous, it is where you shoot a flaming bolt with an oil bladder on it, they haven't been able to test it yet). The third and final, is a bolt with the head cut off. Instead there is a jar filled with projectiles, this is designed to disable the men without damaging the ship to much.

Floors two and one are dedicated to the functions of barge & portcullis. With guards to check credentials, and engineers to operate and repair the equipment. The wall is twenty feet thick, with a ten foot hallow interior, this is how the guards move around from tower to tower. The smaller towers are thirty-feet in circumference, and there lay out is the same as the big ones, except you can only enter from inside the wall. The other diference is that on top is a wooden platform with wooden walls going around it, and a pointed shingled roof. These towers roofs only have the ability of holding archers.
The length of wall between each tower, large and small is a hundred miles. with guard stations every fifty feet. The main land towers have a large renforced oak draw bridge & and iron portculis located in between them. The draw bridge goes down over a river with spikes stiking out. The portcullis is right behind the draw bridge, and behind the portcullis is a double door. The draw bridge, portcullis, & double doors are fifty feet high. The double doors ar made of petrified wood, reinforced by strips of iron. there is a river going straight towards the main gate which slpits in two and goes around the castle walls, pouring out to sea. Now you may be thinking 'what good is a draw bridge that goes into a river?' Well the answer would be it goes onto a stone bridge. The bridge is 'T' shaped, and the draw bridge comes down at the bottom of the 'T', you can then turn left or right to get off. The bridge is a mile long, and the T's top is 2,640 feet long (1/2 mile). The bridge and entrance are twenty-four feet wide. Both the enterance way, and the Bay way,  have spots above them to dump boiling oil, and for achers to shoot down on enemies.

There are small fields and farmers inside the wall, the main section of city has a smaller fifty foot high, ten foot thick wall. The edge of Blothu and just out side the inner wall is where the poor people live. On the crescent shaped harbor its docks, and some inns. The city goes up to a point, the castle being at top, and the docks and poorer area being the largest sections at the bottom. The section above the docks and "poor" areas is where the shops and fancier inns are. There are around twenty inns, twelve tanners, six carpenters, five fish mungers, four silversmiths, nine coppersmiths, fifteen blacksmiths, and thirty brewers. Not to mention other shops, like vegetables, fruit, bread, and meat sellers. The main castle also has its own blacksmith. The streats are laid out orderly and not twisted and thrown together. all the buildings are brick/clay, with shingled roofs. the castle has a circular wall thirty feet high, and four feet thick. Both the city gate and castle gate have a portculis and wooden door.
The city wall has a small moat around it, and each gate has a station on the outside for guards to check credentials. The castle has a court yard, barracks for guards, stables, and a blacksmith. And of course the castle itself, the front of the building points south (out to sea) it is three stories high, the bottom is rectangle, & floors 2-3 are square. there are four towers on each corner, and a fifth tower in the middle, all five towers are ten stories high. Looking at the front of the castle, to the left is the stables and barracks, and on the right is the blacksmith. All the castle walls and outer walls are made of dark, opaque, jade collored bricks. There are also guilds in the city. Four diferent head quarters. The Black Knights Guild, Blood Mans Armorer's, The Golden Swan Guild, & and Three Way axes.

                                                                         GUILDS: A history

Let me talk abought guilds now. Guilds are a large part of this world, they expance through history, and have always been mysterious. They started in taverns, and the founders were veterans of war, who decided to take up mercenary work. Guilds are now organized adventurers groups, with official headquarters. There tasks are things that are to benign for the soldiers to tend to, or too dangerous for the common knight. They rescue family heirlooms, stop queues, personal gain, and bandit rescues. There are twenty in the kingdom of Flogur, I have already mentioned four of them. and latter you will learn of other's

My next episode will have charachters, and some will cuss, thats all, there is nothing else mature in it.
