"I've been there..."

"I've been there..."

Sep 10, 2023

In the fresh spirit of the morning, the entire city is abuzz. Riya is entering through the gate of the building when she suddenly notices Ted, looking somewhat lost, in a suit and boots, heading towards the building. People nearby are greeting him with a "good morning," but he continues to move forward without acknowledging them.

“Hey! Look ahead.”

In front of him is a wall that he is about to collide with, and when Riya sees this, she calls out to him from behind. But her words fail to reach his ears as he continues walking, lost in his thoughts, clutching a weighty envelope in his hand.

Before he bangs his head against the wall. Riya firmly grabs hold of his arm, pulling him back with force. This causes Ted to lose his balance, leading to a collision between them. The impact results in the envelope tearing, and the bundles inside it scatter on the ground

"Where is your attention? You could have gotten hurt just now," scolds Riya.

"I was lost in thought," Ted responds.

"You're behaving just like Muskaan. She often gets lost in her thoughts these days too," Riya remarks.

Hearing the name Muskan, Ted suddenly remembers about last evening.

“No. You can’t give me what I want. So don’t even try. For the last time, the Muskan you are searching for is no longer here." And she left.

“But maam-'' Ted tried to stop Muskan from, but Jay prevented him from doing so.

"Sir, how can you let her go like this? You've waited so long for this day because you want her to go with a misunderstanding. You should stop her, and you are stopping me." Infuriated Ted said as he watched Muskan get away from them in her car.

"What do you think, I don't want to stop her? But nothing will change her mind." Jay replied.

"Until you try, how will you know if something will happen or not?" Ted countered

"I know because I've been in that place before. I used to be filled with anger and hatred for the whole world. I used to behave the same way she is now. Back then, Muskaan held me, introduced me to the beauty of the world. Now it's my turn." Jay looked towards the exit and, while holding his captivating smile on his lips, calmed Ted's anger.

“By the way, what are these documents?”

While Riya was helping Ted pick up the bundles, she noticed some papers inside them. They appeared to resemble invitations from somewhere.

“Oh these! You’ll get to know about them soon.”

“Ok! Let me help you.

‘No, It’s fine. I can take them.”

“Woah! I’ll be offended. If you don't let me take this with me, I'll assume you don't consider me your friend," she said and picked up half of the bundles before heading inside. Once she turned around to look back, Ted was standing there like a statue.

"What are you doing? Come on!" she called out to him.

“When did we become friends? Why don’t I remember?” Confused Ted murmured to himself.

“Wait for me! I am coming.”Having no choice he followed her.

There was a girl, very cute. On her birth, she gave a healing smile to her parents. That's why she got the name Muskan (Smile). Now you must be thinking how do I know this? Because she herself told me this. Back in our school days. 10 years ago. When I was her boyfriend.
For some reason we had to end our relationship there. But today, after 10 years, when I went to meet her again, all excited, I saw… this is not Muskan, whose smile blew away all my troubles, today there is no smile on her face.
What happened that took away Muskan’s(GL) muskaan(smile)? Why has she changed so much in these 10 years? Perhaps is it because of me? No, This should not happen. Please! Please…
