The black rose was grown from her father's garden before he died. She must've put it in this box with all the other stuff that reminded her of him.

     Since his death, she's moved multiple times, so this rose was the last she picked before her first move. And then it kept reminding her that he wasn't here to help her, so she stuffed it in the box. 

     She didn't think it'd still be alive, if she dug up the box from underneath everything and found it again.

     And she only came upon it because she came to the revelation that she should finally unpack and enjoy her place. Fully intending to sstay for longer than a few months.

     She'd been hopping from place to place, struggling to afford it with the jobs she kept switching to stay close to her place.

     Now, she's moved into a really nice apartment, has a good paying accounting job and intends to stay for awhile.

     She decides to grab the rose and a few of the momentos to put them on the coffee table in her living room.
